christianscoasters
So I went to state fair of the west today. It was to windy to ride anything. Everything was closed. BTW, I am posting the pics in the order that I took them. Custom made Chance carousel called La Fiesta. It's still a pretty ride aside from the headrush, arm pain, and just plain boredom. IDK what this is called. It was called El Diablo, but staff have been calling it El Torro (yes with two r's). Um... notice anything? West corner. Stagecoach. They don't let you climb on this one, but they have a life-size horse that you can. Lining up to get through. I got through first cause I'm cool and have a season pass. "Main Street" as I call it. They had checkers set up by the shops. Sort of like Cracker Barrel! But the shops had all sorts of cool things. We found this HILARIOUS!!! I know that they have to post this, but it's still funny! lol! They need to work on their spelling! We were kind of bummed that Sidewinder was closed, but the others, we can deal with. My friend sucks. He doesn't have a season pass like I do. Well, he did get one at the end of the day. IT'S FOR REAL!!! THEY ARE GETTING A DROP TOWER!!! They have a LOT of admission booths. This was a very nice setting to walk into. This is right before the entrance. The entrance is all-around beautiful! Wait till you see it lit up at night! There were about two or three buses today. There wasn't many kids though and they left pretty early in the day. Big open entrance. Signature shot! The JW Theater. Pretty bridge. The wind blew the pole quite a bit. OMG the wind's strong. And um, where are all of the people? Probably at home AVOIDING THE WIND!!!
christianscoasters
More pics... Ty didn't like this picture. Cowboy Country Himilaya. You have to look close and see that it is wild west themed. Except for the car and the Jukebox. I wish I could have got the whole wheel in one pic, but I'll get it some other time. Prairie Plunge towers over RT. So was Tyler. Emily and Zach were too scared to ride the Rodeo Trail. Amber was part of my group. Rodeo Trail! I loved this ride. Actually, I did like it. I rode it three times. It was pretty crowded today. We hardly got on anything because of the INSANE wait times. See! Awesome station! This ride should open THIS Friday or Saturday. Prairie Plunge Log Flume has a very unique station. It looked great! Sidewinder. What a great ride. You just *had* to be closed today. To windy for them. The thing actually rotated all day! The Jumping Bean. It's actually a good ride! This one stayed there four about thirty minutes, and the car on the lift was there all day. Yes. Crazy Mouse stalled. The wind hit the ride head on causing it to stop. Oh great. What are the ride ops staring at? What an awesome Wild West themed airplane ride! For ONCE, there was no one in line. Yay! The Crazy Mouse! This is a restaurant. I haven't eaten at any of them here yet. They have a lot of restaurants at WWW.
hemmy
In 2009 I will still be living in Kansas, so I can see by then it could be a good park with a drop tower and new coaster. I see improvements from your pics already from my visit.
christianscoasters
More pics... BTW on-ride pics were used with permission and were slow rides like ferris wheel, carousel, train, etc. See, it does have a wild west theme. Swings were closed. This creeped me out. This is his "OMG she's touching my leg!" face. I just couldn't get over how crowded it was. GRRR!!! I'm evil Amber! Bronco Buster.
kraxleRIDAH
It looks like that park was built on a budget of $500. Yuck.
Axman
This place reminds me of Beech Bend........WITH NO AWSOME WOODIE!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHH!!!!!!
christianscoasters
More and more pics... The group. Train Station. YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE NOW!!! The park is really shaping up. Here's the Stampede. It has changed a lot because... They lowered the prices on pop by $1! I can't wait! The infamous condor. Etheredge told us it should be open on the 15th. Mini himilaya. This ride belongs in a carnival and ONLY a carnival. Yay! The Himilaya!
Airtime&Gravity
Nice TR, and WWW looks to have a lot of potential. Since it is the only "major" park in the area, they can attract guests from a good chunk of the Great Plains states. I know the park has received a lot of criticism on this forum due to its lack of trees and grass, but the park just opened. In a few years, this can become a really nice park once the grass and trees grow, and with the drop tower and new coaster coming, things will only get better. Airtime-I bet a water park is due in 2010-&Gravity
Shavethewhales
It looks like that park was built on a budget of $500. Yuck. Don't be so snobbish, it's no disney, but it shouldn't need to be. Mind you, it isn't in its best state right now, but once the grass grows back, the trees mature, and they get in a couple more good thrillers, it'll be great. I can see the place really taking off soon.
Axman
They need at least one really good coaster. That' s what did it for Beech Bend.
Axman
They need at least one really good coaster to hit it big. That's what did it for Beech Bend and Holiday World. Beech Bend has yet to come close to fully maturing, but Holiday World is the fruitful success that was sparked by just one good coaster.
jarmor
I dont think he is being snobbish just honest. I think the park is looking very empty and everything very spread out. I feel that if focus was on half of the park and making the rides look like they are from the old west it would probably look better. But right now it looks like a rushed job... coasterdude5
Does anyone know what kind of tower it's going to be? Intamin? S&S?
Shavethewhales
^^Eh, well there's honesty and then there's just being iffy. ^I'm going to bet it'll be Larson, but they could be using S&S. I think people really only use S&S if at least some of the towers they're purchasing are shot towers though, drop towers can be made by those like Larson for much cheaper. coasterdude5
I didn't know Larson went all the way up to 200 feet.
TheGreatOne
I didn't know Larson went all the way up to 200 feet. They don't. The maximum height on the ARM/Larson Super Shots are 140 feet. I guess they could build them a custom one, so that isn't entirely out of the question.
Dorneypark_fan
I think the park will get nicer in a few years
AT0527
^ I think (and hope) so too. I think you guys are right though..one coaster or one good thrill ride and it will make the park hit it big..then they can be making money and building real large things. If they can build a 200 ft. tower, they can certainly build a large coaster too..hopefully they make money on that park..It does look really rushed, though. redfoot12
From the looks of the pictures I wonder if the park is even going to make it to see the drop tower and big coaster.
chris70
Looks like a rough road ahead for Wild West World .the marketing director left for a job with Hershey Park and the chief financial officer stepped down for health reasons.the section below the article contains 12 pages of brutal comments. http://www.kansas.com/business/poll/story/89849.html l

snorkymn
This is a sad park.. more like a small traveling fair than a theme park. But hopefully they'll keep at it and grow and make something out of it. I agree with others that they REALLY need a good coaster. At least they'll get people to drive thousands of miles for the credit that way.
christianscoasters
^In 2009 they ARE getting a wooden coaster. They are talking with GCI!!!
snorkymn
That's great if they get a good GCI Coaster. Maybe they'll get something like Renegade. If they do, they'll be in good shape.
