dandaman
So, not unlike at least a few people here, I hiked down to the Point for Victoria Day weekend (minus Saturday). Stayed at Hotel Breakers for the first time, in the old section. Definitely wasn't worth $100, but we payed $50 anyway with coupons. So, without further ado... Part 2 coming up tomorrow! And Hotel Breakers calls this a "non-view" room! Where's Simba and Pride Rock? At this point I went to get my coat... needless to say, MF kinda gives you the real meaning of "windchill". But it turns out the water tower makes a lovely birdbath ornament! So I figured "dragon" and "pagoda" would fit together... My frame-shot attempt didn't turn out half-bad! The best part of Coasters... OMG! It's Project 2008!! *ZOOM* This is Chaos' default position? I thought it'd just be flat. "I can fly, Ma!" Did the Pirate Ride close when Raptor opened? Kinda rough this year. This is where Corkscrew goes and shames itself for hurting all those poor innocent riders! These were only around TTD and MF. lol, rollback My favourite ride, and I know a lot of you will dispute that. The Jeff Johnson Express! "lol, internet" "My hands have rigor mortis!" Everyone's actually happy? Dang... almost worked! For all those train enthusiasts! If this queue is ever used, that'd be one hell of a crowd. Airtime-licious! Nicely framed. These pictures don't do it justice... especially MY pictures. All the trains were stored on the circuit while the modifications were made. ...Okay, what the hell is so interesting to my right?! Time to go ride! Yep... silver = shiny! Why do those white tubes just stop a quarter of the way up? The station looks really spiffy! Is this the first "Maverick through the trees" shot? Maverick really does look a lot bigger and better in person. ...Not much in between! And there's the other end... There's one end... How fast does it take to fill/drain the pond? It might have been nicer than I expected for weather, but not THAT nice. Hey Jahan! The first of many dark photos. Maybe Maverick's track is in here! One of the nice laid-back areas of the park. Sig shot This thing needs some speed. Where's Doc Brown and the coloured smoke logs when you need 'em? And then, like so many things, Mantis ruins it. And even better! This one's not so bad! Sadly, my shot turned out more "pathetic" than "artistic"... Hey Derek! The first pic inside the park. My uncle and I went back to the front to process his season pass. Didn't ride it this time around... more time for 1/2-hour MF! So the biggest line of the entire two days was likely for Dragster... but considering it was 1 hour on the 2-4 weekend, that's pretty good. Hello, 102-year-old hotel where I lost my glasses! (Housekeeping's still searching, though, so kudos to them.) Guess they took out MF's track and painted it red for the S-bend! I actually took this picture by accident! Breaking news: You can actually have fun... at Cedar Point... without MAVERICK! What a concept! Boo ya! The one picture I got of the actual park is too dark, but I'll say it looks very nice. We actually only went past 'cause we missed a turn-off... The roads always get smoother the instant you hit the border... hooray for crappy Michigan roads! This was pretty much the weather for the whole time. What happened to the showers forecasted? Don't know, don't care. Looks like the fair at Gibraltar Trade Center was up again this year... Always a nice sight to see when you get off the Ambassador Bridge!
dandaman
Part Two ...There we are! The End! Thanks for reading folks! Almost... Almost... ...Some Canadian freighter snuck up behind me! Right after I took this, I turned around to find... Notice how everyone has their hands up but the front car? Told you it was cold! Magnum time! For such a nice day, it got damn chilly by the lake! Never been on the beachwalk behind Breakers before this. Oh, come on, this thing totally kicked ass back in '94! Is this like the "Kidtums birth POV" that we never had? So if they've already tested this part and everything went fine... what work is still being done in there? That one lady's staring down at me... "HAI! I INGRID! I KLEEN!" Magnum... through some various foliage including but not limited to trees! Flying Man apparently strikes again in the exact same seat! This train was stuck in the tunnel blocks for almost 20 minutes. Caught a couple of these guys around Magnum as usual! Tested the camera zoom for these next few. Wonder if they're still even looking for those glasses anymore... Bigger potential for a rollback! Alas, I rode the fourth train of the day, and only the first three got the "honour of failure". Well, it's cold this morning, so you know what that means... IceDragon
Those photos didn't actually turn out too bad... The Maverick shot of the airtime hill would looks awesome with it peaking the hill, or on the turn! It looks amazing! Really need to go to America now... FeelTheFORCE
Can someone enlighten me as to what a "Terra Coaster" is? I thought it was a coaster that is 500+ feet tall.
ginzo
Can someone enlighten me as to what a "Terra Coaster" is? I thought it was a coaster that is 500+ feet tall. That just sounds like marketing BS speak for "terrain coaster", which makes their claim especially bad.

These are really great pics. ^I thought a terra coaster was well.. this is how I thought it wen't (this makes me very confused). Mega= 100ft Hyper= 200ft Giga= 300ft Strata= 400ft Terra= 500ft. At least this is what I was told.

coasterfreak101
^That was my point when I told him that. The sign says Maverick is the world's first Terra Coaster, but a Terra Coaster is at least 500 feet tall, an attribute that Mavvie defintely doesn't have... Carnage
^ Actually I think "Terra coaster = 500 feet" is just something that internet geeks came up with.
FeelTheFORCE
For what it's worth, Earth's "Terrasphere" is "what's deep under your feet. It's different than the BIOSPHERE where just about all life exists. When we talk about the terrasphere, we are talking about the planet. We're talking about what's beneath the surface of the Earth. There are rivers of molten rock, huge spheres of solid Iron, and more rivers, but of molten Iron. So much going on just beneath the surface." http://www.cartage.org.lb/en/kids/science/Geog/Earth/Earth.htm So maybe a "Terra Coaster" is a coaster, as stated above, that's close to the ground. dandaman
Not to add fuel to the fire, but the next step would be "terabyte" with 1 'r', and then "terra" with 2 r's as in "terrain". Crap. " lol, internet " .... ha! good call on that Gemini pic. Those silver trains on Maverick look niiiiice. thanks for the pics. I tried one of those "look down the brake run" pics, and kinda got that extra. Thanks for all the comments so far, guys!
mike541x
Great Tr, and I have to agree with the Mean Streak queue comment. It looks quite a walk from there to the station.
jamesdillaman
^ Yeah, but I remember waiting FOREVER to ride the world's fastest wooden coaster when it opened. That sucked! -James Dillaman
Carnage
So Blue Streak was running rough for you? I actually thought it was running great. As good as I can remember in years.
dandaman
Well, I don't mind as much as some when a coaster beats the crap out of me. Now that I think about it, it was running fairly well all things considered. Let me put it this way: It wasn't any worse than Mantis. I'll definitely still ride it with a short wait, though. P.S. Checked the calendar, checked with the parents... thanks to the season pass, looks like I'm going back in 9 days.
Darien Laker
Not so sad or pathetic. This is a nice TR with great photos. I love that picture of Corkscrew, with the train on that weird flat section of track. I've always wondered why that's there, it's like there should be a MCBR or something, but it's just straight flat track. I also love the picture of Magnum at night from your hotel room. It's a beautiful coaster and one of my favorites as well, beaten only by Millennium Force.
dandaman
There's a lot more where that came from. I walked along the beach path between Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites for the first time and got some fairly decent Magnum shots. (Sometime today, I promise!) errtyme
Hopefully today, I love Magnum! Besides MF it's my favorite ride in the park, and still a top 10 coaster for me...so bring on those Magnum shots! Great TR! Clay "I heard in 10 years it will have sunk 30 feet! " Lamanske
