JZ's Ongoing Kings Island Update Thread!

With such a large area cleared, it really points to a hyper coaster going up. Looks like I might need to make a trip to Ki next year...

Yeah, you'll definitely want to, especially if you read the entire thread...

From the looks of the track pix, it appears to be normal Hyper coaster gauge. Dive Machine track tends to have ties that are straight across the inside of the track

Also, look at the layout of Nitro, and tell me that this coaster isn't going to have a similar layout. Nitro's helix may stick out a little more, and KI's looks like it'll have a splashdown, and KI looks like it is utilizing the ravine. But overall similar to Nitro:

You can't really see in those pix, but the ravine cleared out is quite large. I think the rumor of 2nd larger drop could be possible.

I'd actually be happy if its anything like Nitro. It was one of my favorite rides on my SFGAdv trip. With the raven, shaping of the area, and all those other factors, the layout will be slightly different, but I can deffinatley see the resemblance right now.

This thing is going to completely dominate the back half of the park, pretty much the entire park really. I'm really excited a B&M hyper of the magnitude that we all think this thing will be should really put KI back on the map as far as coasters go. This will be a great steel hyper, they've a few good woods ( a few not so good), a great indoor coaster, a good family mine train, a flyer, and a decent looper. Bring on the Invert for 2011 and we we got ourselves a pretty solid collection of coasters!

^Either an Invert or an Intamin...Either one is fine with me. I think KI needs another solid flat ride to go along with The Crypt, Delirium, and Drop Zon..err Droop Tower. You know something like Sky Hawk at Cedar Point.

Sky Hawk is a very short ride. It was nice and all but very short not worth the wait.

This is what I think is the new ride might possibly be like. The colors I made are based upon the pictures of track in "Kennyweirds" post. And I put and x on the tips of the track because I have no idea what

1-Station

2-End of ride

3-(black) Brakes and railing/steps.

4-Possible water touch/brake

5-Lift hill

6-Into the woods

7-Out of the woods.

I think your missing a footing next to the green building and also one in line for the Crypt.

I thought we confirmed this to be a hyper.....

It IS indeed a B&M Hyper.

So I was thinking about the glance I got of the plans, and I remembered (;-) ) the name on the bottom of them. Now this isn't set in stone, because I know for a fact some rides have changed names after they've been designed, but I've heard "Mustang" and saw it around a few things. The one thing you can be sure of is it will have nothing to do with the Beast (No Father of the Beast or anything like that) and WILL have similar theming to the Rivertown area just as Maverick is themed at Cedar Point.

It was just a little outline. I was trying to be exact. You can edit it yourself if u want.

From your layout, your missing one key thing. The image sort of borders on the canyon, so you cant see it that well. From point 1, the track should veer right and head down the canyon drop, then turn left to where I saw some flags heading in a straight line yesterday. THEN the woods stuff happens.

^ When you plant grass seed, you cover it with straw or hay to keep the seed from blowing away, but I seriously doubt they'd be planting any grass, yet, as it would be torn up by the construction equipment when it starts going vertical.

A veeeeerrry cool set of photos waiting for us to find out what is being built-

Perhaps somebody should come up with a 'pregnancy' test for theme parks- Just to figure out whether or not they 'really are expecting' a new bundle of joy-

But these pics would (ALMOST) confirm it-

It could just be a new ditch and wiring for all we know...

Here is my idea of what will be in the current construction site. It's very similar to dragsterfan420's diagram, but I made mine a little more detailed.

1. Station

2. Lift

3. Splashdown

4. Brakerun

5. Train shed

6. Transfer Track

For 4, 5, and 6, I think it will be similar to the brakerun of Apllo's Chariot at BGE.
