jackskellington101
As published at the beginning of this month in InPark Magazine, Park World Magazine, and copied a dozen other places, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and Economics Research Associates (ERA) came out with the 2006 worldwide theme park attendance numbers. Being both a business admin major at school and the theme park nut I am, I'm all over this. The positive is that, overall, attendance grew 2.2% over the year. However, I'm sure you're all interested in the bottom line. Who's the top? Here are the top 25 parks in the world, by attendance, as researched by these two foundations. In the parentheses are the attendance number estimates for 2006: 1) Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (16,640,000) 2) Disneyland, Anaheim, California , USA(14,730,000) 3) Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo, Japan (12,900,000) 4) Tokyo DisneySea, Tokyo, Japan (12,100,000) 5) Disneyland Paris, Marne-La-Vallee, France (10,600,000) 6) Epcot at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (10,460,000) 7) Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (9,100,000) 8) Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA (8,910,000) 9) Universal Studios Japan, Osaka, Japan (8,500,000) 10) Everland, Kyonggi-Do, South Korea (7,500,000) 11) Tie: Universal Studios at Universal Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, England (6,000,000) 13) Disney's California Adventure, Anaheim, California, USA (5,950,000) 14) Seaworld Florida, Orlando, Florida, USA (5,740,000) 15) Lotte World, Seoul, South Korea (5,500,000) 16) Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Yokohama, Japan (5,400,000) 17) Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA (5,300,000) 18) Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong, SAR, China (5,200,000) 19) Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal City, California, USA (4,700,000) 20) Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, Denmark (4,396,000) 21) Ocean Park, Hong Kong, China (4,380,000) 22) Busch Gardens Tampa Bay/Africa, Tampa Bay, Florida, USA (4,360,000) 23) Sea World California, San Diego, California, USA (4,260,000) 24) Europa-Park, Rust, Germany (3,950,000) 25) Nagashima Spa Land, Kuwana, Japan (3,910,000) An interesting point they make later on is the total attendance for the top 25 parks in the world equals 186.5 million people. The seven page report also breaks it down by region and company, along with having the water park estimates as well. So, anything shocking? Anything interesting? Anything you just don't think is correct?

jackskellington101
^^Very true. The only Six Flags Parks on any list are Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America, and Six Flags Magic Mountain as numbers 18, 19, and 20 respectively on the top 20 of North America. That being said, they're still the number 2 chain in the world behind Disney in terms of attendance with an estimated 28 million visitors in 2006. They're also a distant number two, seeing that number 1 Disney had an estimated 112.5 million visitors in 2006. ^Whoops, missed it. Then disregard what I wrote.
