Shockwave Posted May 17, 2005 Share Posted May 17, 2005 With the sun out, I went out for the weekend to do some shameless coaster-whoring at Camelot theme park. I had only a couple of hours so it was a straight in-straight out affair. First I got my two kiddy coasters out the way before the bigger challenge of Whirlwind. It's running a bit rough, but it's still better than any Reverchon/Zamperla spinner I've been on. Then I went to the Gauntlet, which really is a rough as it looks. A round with Mike Tyson would have sufficed compared to this! After visiting the neurosurgery, I headed over to the Rack. One of Vekoma's better rides. The front seat view is really exhilerating as the gondolas come back towards each other! The staff were pretty monochrome, not much smiling went on here. Food wasn't spectacular, and was really overpriced for what you got. Packed lunches next time. And that was pretty much it. More photos to come, along with Gullivers World Warrington! It's only a model! The Rack might be Vekoma all over, but it's the best flat ride in the park. Excalibur 2 is looking to move into the Gauntlet's heavweight division with an impressive 4th rotation stoppage. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-Lights out! The Gauntlet claims a first round knock-out. The biggest Whirlwind you'll ever see in the UK! These guys had the right idea! Barney the Dinosaur left his sunblock at home. The staff all have a cheery face and the food is better than your average theme park's menu. The potato wedges in the Lost World are a must-eat! The park has three coasters. Antelope is the big draw, a wooden coaster with good little layout, but really rough around the back section. Wild Mine Ride is a wild mouse coaster which doesn't use its trim brakes. Bruises shall follow. Runaway Train is a kiddy coaster with attitude - not least because it's the same colour as the best coaster in the world. The flat rides aren't spectacular, but a kid's magic carpet and chairplane ride are a good draw. And the have one of those crazy SBF Flying mahcines like the ones at Clementon. The Observation Tower gives good views as well, but we were too busy eating potato wedges! Gulliver's World is well better than Camelot! Better rides, better food, better entrance fee, better go back soon! See the pictures for more quirky comments... Out with a splash. Thanks to Gulliver's Warrington for a great day! Before you ask, it's a Gayrilla. Hot Dogs. Now foil wrapped for freshness. ...and I'm not! We loved the Giant Slide! Here, Nadia is slowing down... The Wild Mine Ride - "Brakes? What are those?" Maybe not - how about Expedition Z-Force? Expedition GeForce anyone? Looking back, Nadia was really glad she got a lift home at the end of the day! Lee was dressed to kill! This is about as high as the boat got. We met this guy on the way to the car. ...But the girl in the right front didn't think so. Antelope has a spring in its step. The most silliest "WTF" coaster I've been on & I think it's the best coaster there. The Vekoma ride "Gaunlet" is Okay - makes a worrying loud whirring noise as the arms go spin around. The two gondolas stretch away from each other as the arms move apart, and then when the arms line up, the cars come together! And I really didn't have the time to go on, so I left it out of the update. I'm going back later in the year with a voucher for £5 off entry, as £16 is bordering on daft.
