EuroTre
Hey there TPR! My family and I are headed off to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and Holiday World next June and since my "Six Flags St. Louis" was succesful for us I decided to do it again. Anything we could do after hitting HW and SFKK? Any ride comments? Wait times? Food? Anything else? I would appreciate some feedback for our trip! Sean Menefee
My friends and I really enjoyed... http://www.schnitzelbank.com/ & http://www.holidaydrivein.com/ after our Holiday World visit. The park closed early on our trip so we visited Schnitzelbank one night, and Holiday Drive-In the other. It was a very interesting change of pace, but we all had a lot of fun. You can see some photos from my midwest trip here if you're interested. http://sm2designs.com/thumbnails.php?album=25&page=15 Sean-
EuroTre
Thanks! My dad would like doing that kind of stuff. He's not big on rides.
xericx
drive a couple extra hours and make a stop in Tennessee at dollywood.
coasterdude5
^ I agree, if you can somehow get to Dollywood it will be worth the extra drive and money. You could almost spend two days at Dollywood but one is good, too.
SharkTums
If you're into Baseball Louisville has some museum or something...same with horse racing. There's not much around the Holiday World area. Holiday World has a really good waterpark that you should spend some time in.
easytoremember
Beech Bend is in kentuckey in Bowling Green. It is only two hours south of holiday world
BarryH
Don't forget to stop by Beech Bend and ride the Kentucky Rumbler! Even if you stop for a few hours, I'll be worth it.
EuroTre
Okay, sounds good to me! So any musuems besides the baseball one or the horse racing one that my dad could look at? (He's already looking for museums on his computer)
ginzo
Yeah, don't miss Beech Bend! The park isn't that great, but Kentucky Rumbler is the best coaster in the state. SFKK is really a half day park at best. You should also check into going to Mammoth Cave. They have all kinds of tours, everything from basic walk throughs to the "wild cave tour". Wild Cave is not for wimps, but it's an incredible experience. Mammoth is between Louisville and Bowling Green, about 30 miles north of Bowling Green, which is where Beech Bend is. http://www.nps.gov/maca/ Edit: You should also considering going to Indiana Beach instead of SFKK. Indiana Beach is a lot more fun than SFKK.
mr_teisco_delrey
Beech Bend and the Rumbler are a given. As Elissa mentioned, there is the Louisville Slugger Museum (Main St) If your into boxing, the Muhamad Ali center is across the street. It is more than just boxing though. Churchill Downs Spring meet ends in mid June, but the Derby Museum is cool (3rd St)! Fort Knox is really cool (Bullion Depository, and Patton Armor museum). Located 30 min south of Louisville on US 31W. Mammoth Cave is on I 65 just 25 minutes north of Beech Bend. I could go on and on. Let me know if you want to know anything else. P.S. Dollywood is 5 1/2 hours away from Louisville. Not a short side trip from Lou...
MisterP
Agreed...Mammoth Cave is a great place to visit. If you like to camp, it could be a good 3-4 days. There are several different and fun (and long) cave tours, and its a beautiful national park.
scruffy
If you have time you could go to the Newport Aquarium at Newport on the Levee. Also you can take a River boat cruse on BB Riverboats. If you dad likes baseball try to see a Cincinnati Reds game.
thrillerman1
If you go to Beech Bend, the Corvette Museum is also in Bowling Green, so your dad might be into that. I highly recommend Kentucky Rumbler!
ConleyKE
I haven't made it to Beech Bend yet, but it sounds like it can be done from Louisville within a day easily. ^^^ As for museums, mr teisco delrey pretty much touched on all of those in Kentuckiana. There is also the Kentucky Speedway located between Louisville and Cinncinatti which is really neat. For entertainment, there is 4th Street Live which has a Hard Rock Cafe, bowling alley, shops, and live shows nightly downtown. Hope this helps!
