jray21
I had a Pepsi Next last night. Not bad when you want a lower calorie soda (60 Kcals a can) but don't want to go all the way to diet soda. Not something I'd drink on a regular basis but once in awhile. Speaking of Pepsi Next, Coke will be introducing Coca Cola Life, first in Argentina, and then possibly across the globe like with Coke Zero. It could eventually become part of the global line-up of Coca Colas along with Classic, Diet/Light, and Zero. Coca-Cola announced on Wednesday plans to sell the company's first stevia-sweetened Coke product, Coca-Cola Life, in Argentina beginning this week. Stevia, a natural sweetener derived from a species of plants native to South America, Central America and Mexico, is sweeter than sugar but has no calories. Coca-Cola Life will have about half the calories of regular Coke.  Beverage Daily tweeted a picture of the drink earlier this week:   The news comes months after Coca-Cola announced it would make over Sprite's recipe in the U.K., subbing in stevia for some of its sugar content. Around the same time, Coca-Cola U.K. released an anti-obesity television commercial.  Experts, however, question if soft drinks made with stevia are truly a healthy option for people suffering from obesity and diabetes. Following the Sprite announcement, Dr. Sharon R. Akabas, a director at Columbia University’s Institute of Human Nutrition, told The Huffington Post that she was concerned by the couching of the stevia-sweetened beverage against the backdrop of Coca-Cola's anti-obesity campaign. "It gives the impression that [drinking stevia Sprite] is a really healthy thing to do," she said, "but it's still ... calories of sugar, which has no nutrients."  Coca-Cola's decision to release a stevia-sweetened cola is especially interesting in light of recent comments by PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi. "Stevia unfortunately does not work well in colas," she said in May.  Efforts by The Huffington Post to reach Coca-Cola for comment were unsuccessful. We will update the story as necessary.  UPDATE: Coca-Cola representative Rosalyn Kennedy tells HuffPost that the company will "explore [a] roll-out of Coca-Cola Life in other markets." The soda, she said in an email, is "the latest example of our global commitment to offer more reduced-, low- and no-calorie options."  www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/28/coca-cola-life_n_3516512.html  Interesting. As long as it tastes good, I don't care if it has sugar, corn syrup, stevia, or the tears of baby seals. As long as it doesn't taste like Coke Light I'll be happy. 805Andrew
^^^Coca Cola Life should taste pretty good if its well executed, as Stevia has a less diet-like taste than Aspartame, Sucralose, and Ace K, and its being blended with sugar (or HFCS probably if it comes here). Coke Zero has been successful by tasting less like diet than other colas, so Coke Life should taste even closer to regular Coke. Stevia is already blended with sugar in some iced teas, juice drinks, flavored waters, and energy drinks. I think Coke has learned it's lesson from Coca Cola C2 (nine years ago), and the packaging and name of Coca Cola Life reflects that, along with the choice of Stevia over Aspartame, Sucralose, and Ace K (also a way to differentiate itself from Pepsi Next). Â Which of the following cans is more visually appealing and stands out more? Coca Cola Life with HFCS/Sugar and Stevia Coca Cola C2 with HFCS/Sugar and Aspartame, Sucralose, and Ace K

jray21
A super nasty yogurt soda from the YOLO fruit stand! I love the Japanese yogurt soda drinks and thought this would be similar. Not even close. It's literally just plain unsweetened yogurt with carbonated water. You know how yogurt takes fizzy when it goes bad? Yeah, that's exactly what this tasted like.
