P. 261: Arvest Bank announces 10 year sponsorship deal

Recommended Posts

The only concern I have (and I'm being completely serious) is that it doesn't end up like SoB and have structural problems - especially through the barrel roll. I'm sure RMC has taken it into account, and the main track supports are on steel I-beams, but until then there is that lingering thought in my head.

There's actually very little forces on the structure during such a roll.

I'm asumming there will be an event here next year, so my questions is: I've never been to either WoF or SF StL. If I could only pick one of those parks, which one?

They both have a GCi, so it looks like it comes down to: do I want to ride The Boss or Mamba? My first reaction is The Boss.

( and if you recommend one over the other please keep it civil and logical. Thanks )

That's a tough call, I haven't been to SFSL, but I have ridden Mr. Freeze. If you haven't, I'd go to SFSL.

The supports on the double barrel roll look sweet, and unlike anything I've ever seen on any coaster. I like that they went with the Intamin style 6-seat trains...makes me have faith that it will give a smooth ride. Did they say anything about the wheels? I know RMC wanted to use steel wheels at some point.

Isn't Ozark Wildcat already too rotted away to be saved? It's a shame we've lost a GCI already.

I'm afraid that it is. Haven't seen it up close since the park closed, but we pass it on the way to SDC. Shame; I used to ride it over and over when Celebration City was still open. Such a good ride to be wasted on such a disappointing park.

Depends on your preference. Both are tall and fast, but Boss has that woodie edge, IMO. It has a roughness that Mamba doesn't. If you like that roughness, go to Six Flags. If you don't, Worlds of Fun is the place for you.

I haven't heard any official confirmation that OzCat is beyond saving yet. I'm sure that if they had a reason to refurbish and reopen it, it could and would be done. The issue is that there will never be a reason to do so within the next decade at the very least. It's not like they haven't looked into various options for the property. I have heard of at least one pitch that didn't make it that involved a lot of animals and animal-themed attractions. At this point the Herschends just have so much in Branson that having any more properties would just be competing with themselves. They accomplished most of their goal with CC anyway just by taking away the possibility of competition. If anyone else had scooped up the park SDC would have to compete with a low budget park during a time when people are looking more seriously at low budget options.

Anyway though, I'm working on getting my own set of Outlaw Run construction photos up tonight. The angles I got aren't as good or numerous as Chadster's, but I might as well post them since we might not get to get any more photos from those angles ever again anyway.

Yeah, I don't think there's enough room there for a Busch Gardens-type park, nor to I think the Herschends would want to build one, since it would be serious competition for SDC. I know families like mine who have young kids would love such a park, and that's potentially a bad thing businesswise for HFE.

Truthfully, I hope there's a future for OzCat. I'm just almost convinced we've already seen the last of it. Glad I got to ride it in its day.

No, they went with 4-seat trains.

Actually, the new RMC trains for Outlaw Run are 2-seat trains -12 cars for 24 passengers - similar to a 12 seat Millennium Flyer train.(according to the press release and rcdb.com).

Could it be? Has Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters finally found someone to buy their single-row trains?

I know that concept art =/= reality, but the trains in the art look like PTCs.

Ahh, I see. I just looked at the renderings of the rolls, showing 4 seat cars, but 2 seats cars sound much more awesome!

One thing about renderings is that they are just that, renderings. RMC is taking their time and have done extensive research and development on their own train design and to give anything away(that's not in the press release) right now would be foolish. So much like the mystery surrounding this ride up until the last few weeks, we will have to use our imaginations on what train design Alan has in store for us!

Initially I thought it looked like 6, but in the video it after looking closer it looked like 4...now RCDB is saying two? I agree that renderings can be misleading...I mean, just look at any park map. I hope they're as big as they looked in the video though!

As part of the media event of Outlaw Run I was invited to a dinner cruise on the Showboat Branson Belle, and I have to admit my gay side here...THE SHOW WAS GOOD! Yes, I admit it. I was treated to the VIP table as they had one seat available (It pays to be single sometimes!) and was offered my choice of entrees and chose a perfectly cooked Mahi-Mahi and a chocolate desert that was out of this world.

The show called "Made in America" features magician and comedian Christopher James as the show's MC, the singing group The ShowMen, and aerial violinist Janice Martin, and yes, she really does play the violin in the air while twirling around on one of those sheet looking things. Christopher was a huge comedy hit as an equal opportunity insulter, just my style. The ShowMen were well rehearsed and Janice didn't do so bad herself, afterall she was dangling from the ceiling and all

Cruises run daily with a few exceptions through December. More information can be found at www.showboatbransonbelle.com

I think we can do without this, but the other stuff, pretty sure we need it.

Christopher starts off by getting the crowd in the mood. He also likes to play with his rope, stretching, bending, pulling, and cutting. Somehow it always went back to the way it was when he started. It's magic people.

2:30 later the show and cruise were over. Awesome experience, I'd recommend it as something 'different' to do while in town!

Thanks again to Silver Dollar City for the opportunity. I loved it!

Despite Gatekeeper being announced yesterday, this ride is still my most anticipated for 2013, such a daring and epic ride Silver Dollar City has coming! That drop will be fantastic, the insane elements, speed, air and INVERSIONS, clearly going to be a top 10 buster in many lists!
