TheRapidsNerd
Just saw the videos, and although this seems like a very small park, I like the updated spins on Universal's roster of attractions. The stand-outs are the Jurassic Park River Rapids Adventure and Battle Star Galactica coasters. JP's proposed elevator lift for the finally drop is a neat idea, although I'm not sure how much you'll be able to see with the boats being so closed in and seat backs. Too, these are all concepts and could change and the proof is in the final product. I Like the proposed themeing and trains for Battle Star. The dog fight scenario is a good one. I like that they're updating Beetle Juice Graveyard review with a new monster. That's always been one of my favorite shows. Have to wonder if there will be an adjacent waterpark or one somewhere nearby. Will be interestested in the final product and, naturally, I'm happy to see another cool park and detailed themeing. DBJ
Thanks for the videos! Love the theme park design and architecture info. The park looks like it will be very well done. Really some visually stunning design work going into the park. Highlights definately are the Deuling Coasters, JP, Transformers, and Madagascar Crate Adv. Surprised that Waterworld is still significant enough in pop culture to warrant a new install in this next decade. And it's part of the "Lost World"? Hmmm. Imo, either Far Far Away or JP could have expanded into that area to add more kids/family/thrill rides. Someday, love to see Universal build a flyer themed to a Ptero. Or, where is Harry Potter? Is that license exclusive to Florida? Odd isn't it that a micro Ferris Wheel is in a shop as well. Interesting concept. Although imo, a family coaster with a ferris wheel lift system with the track encirlcing (it is the Magic Potion Spin shop after all). Also odd that Enchanted Airways isn't a family suspended coaster, but a pretty standard sit down. Also MIA...MIB. With a possible 3rd movie on the way, seems like a no-brainer for Sci-Fi city. Maybe they have space reserved for expansion? Or, Treasure Hunters done as interactive shooter. Although it's great they are at least building a dark ride. It's a very promising start for Universal in that region.
Jew
Surprised that Waterworld is still significant enough in pop culture to warrant a new install in this next decade. The stunt show itself is one of the most popular attractions at both USH and USJ. The movie sucked, but it works well as a theme park show. themeparkman25
Update: Height and Weight Limits! Battlestar Galactica will have a height limit of roughly 4 feet (125 cm) ROTM will have a height limit of exactly 4 feet (122 cm) Jurassic Park will have a height limit of 3'7" (110 cm) Full list of attraction weight and height limits Also, all the hotels on the Sentosa property are now open to the public. If you are in to staring at closed coasters and construction, this is the place to be! The park seems to be in full testing mode as we speak (or type?), as the Jurassic Park ride is now roaring and both lines of BG are running at full, though I have not seen a recent video of them testing together. Maybe it is just me, but from this recent video of BG, the launch speed seems to have picked up, as it appears the train takes the course with a little more heat. Would you agree? jarmor
wow...i dont think I have ever seen a weight restriction...
RCFreak
The website only lists one actual weight restriction and that is a rock climbing attraction. All the others just say "Weight restrictions may apply. (Please refer to our park guide map for details)" Funny enough, when Stealth opened at what was then Paramount's Great America, it actually had a "weight restriction" of 240 pounds which was less of an actual restriction, and more of a guideline for being too large to be safely restrained. Maybe that's what they mean here too? *shrug*
CD
I'm glad to see they kicked up the launch speed on BG. Before I saw that video, I thought these coasters looked boring and uneventful... But if the speed stays along these lines, I will be impressed!
themeparkman25
We will open from 20 JanWednesday, January 6, 2010 First off, thank you, our dear, dear supporters, who have been very patiently waiting for us to make this announcement. (Yes, we know the wait has been unbearable for some of you.) It's official -- we will open our doors to the world come Jan 20, 2010, where four of our hotels: Festive Hotel, Hotel Michael, Hard Rock Hotel and Crockfords Tower, will make their debut. Besides these, 10 restaurants and lounges will open to our guests on that date. Here's a breakdown of what our guests can expect when they step in through our doors on Jan 20: http://resortsworldsentosablogs.blogspot.com/2010/01/we-will-open-from-20-jan.html I would imagine that the park isn't too far behind this opening. Things are coming along.
Nosferatu
The weight restriction probably won't be a problem here in Asia, as where few people is anywhere close that weight. Maybe for some western tourists it will be a problem, but it will probably be very rare. Getting really exited for this park to open. They will probably have some sort of soft opening. killawhale925
General park update. My apologies if any of these have been posted before. Doesn't hurt to take a second look at this park though. I think that for its size, it definitely has a unique and diversified attraction line-up! And the detail going into them is impressive. Opening does not look too far away! I can't wait. No pictures of Hollywood but I can't imagine it being that different from what we are already used to at a Universal park. The new take on the Jurassic Park ride has my interest! Check out Sentosa Blog Spot if you crave even more pictures. New York Ancient Egypt Sci Fi City
killawhale925
And now for some new vids! The Battlestar Galactica one shows lots of blue testing AND a roll-back on the red side! Blue is still looking like it is crawling through the course and the video doesn't look to be too old! At least the dueling elements won't whizz by like they do on Dragons. The other one is of Jurassic Park testing. I think this is the part of the ride when the flash flood has just arrived and the tour is just going bad. You can see the flooded and control tower and the beginning of the choppy water!
themeparkman25
Looks like we could see the park opening in the next couple weeks! Now just waiting for the pov of BG. This was said yesterday Jan. 19th 2010Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman of Genting Group, which owns the $6.59 billion resort, said yesterday: 'By the end of next week, Universal Studios Singapore will open, and when we officially launch Resorts World Sentosa later this year, it will be another significant and historical milestone achievement for the group.' Waiting for the official announcement from Resorts World Sentosa So RWS is now back tracking Genting Group chairman Lim Kok Thay said the integrated resort will next open the retail and dining strip, Festive Walk, to be followed by Universal Studios theme park and then the casino, for which it is still awaiting a licence to operate. 'As far as the casino license is concerned, we are still working closely with the authorities through their checks and inspections,' Mr Lim told reporters after the opening ceremonies for the hotels. 'So in other words, we are still going through the motions. We are waiting for the gaming license to be issued.' So Next to open will be Festivewalk maybe next week then USS in the following two week. http://sentosathemepark.blogspot.com/2010/01/wouldnt-ceo-know.html
Coaster Cow
^^Great update! With all the failing park concepts in Dubai, I'm really excited for this park to open. Reviews of Battlestar should be very interesting, and I like how Universal doesn't just pull a Disney and put a total carbon copy of their park in at a different place. chemical_echo
I love the look of the Far Far Away area. The castle looks great and the kingdom streets look just like the movies with the advertisements and everything.
themeparkman25
Tell me otherwise, but the dual at 24 seconds is pretty awesome. Now that the coasters appear to be running at full speed, the two seem to be dueling a lot more and in some pretty cool ways.
4rturo
Wow, that near collision is going to be awesome, especially in the red side, looks like red will be better than blue again
Reon
Its....so....beautiful! I can't wait to see some footage of the Battlestar coasters dueling at full speed. Defiantely looks like the best new coasters of 2010 in my book, and I can't wait to put a China trip together if I ever get the fundage...
robbalvey
Wow, that near collision is going to be awesome, especially in the red side, looks like red will be better than blue again Except that Ice is MUCH better than Fire! --Robb "Never been a fan of Fire Dragon..." coasterfreak101
Fire > Ice. Well...maybe. It's such a difficult choice! But anyways. This park looks phenomenal. IOA is my absolute favorite park I've ever been to, and this is like that and USO in one! The only thing that's kind of lame is how slow BG is going, and I wish that it wasn't up to full speed yet but I can't see any reason why they wouldn't be testing it to its potential. Either way, the coasters and this park is just awesome.
