Carnage
Unfortunately the more obnoxious one's tend to be the loudest and most vocal. It's a case of a few bad apple ruining it for the rest. There's obviously some cool ACErs. But the arrogant pricks are the one's that give the club that bad name. To the point of just being in ACE will get you scorned. willski
I've been to several events and it's really rare that I meet anyone and actually talk to them. I've wondered if it's me. We call this, "Pulling a Barry" And probably the main reason that you are excluded by ACErs is that they've never actually had friends before/had never belonged to a group, so now that they belong to a crack team of elite gravy-eating supernerds, they exclude people. It's all I've got on the matter, Elissa and Wes stole all of it.
saxman47
400+ lbs, male, and never had sex - you are automatically a member. Being interested in coasters is optional because you would be too large to get on them - they should call it American Buffet Enthusiasts. I am so nasty, I'll just say Homer simpson started it. I've always wondered, how do these "robust" individuals manage to ride many of the new intamin rides?? I've seen normal-sized people have trouble on MF!! rbpia
Don't forget, if you want to be the next President of ACE you have to successfully take out hits on Kirsty Alley, Nicole Richie, and Carnie Wilson. Those 3 weight losing B**ches make the ACER's feel bad about their larger than normal backsides. rbpia "Wait, you mean if we stop at the East of Chicago buffet before we go into Cedar Point we have a better chance at a rollback on Dragster?" socalMAN123
Enough about ACErs, I think all is in order to start a TPR club. Just pay like a little less than what ACE makes you pay per year and be able to go to different meets and stuff. Or maybe I'm just being really stupid and this will never happen. I need to sleep more. ---Brent
socalRCfan
Why is there so much negativity on this site towards ACE?
apollo210
^ Because ACErs are very fat. YOu need to eat 50 pounds of food each buffet, you pay $50 to get fat, and you need to say how awsome Mellenium Force, Beast, and Raven are . socalRCfan
Anyone care to articulate a more substantial reason to dislike ACE? It just seems unusual for coaster enthusiasts to dislike coaster enthusiasts.
SharkTums
I'm sure if you do a search of this board, or even for ACE you'll find plenty of topics with all of our opinions.
bratman
Anyone care to articulate a more substantial reason to dislike ACE? It just seems unusual for coaster enthusiasts to dislike coaster enthusiasts. I would like to hear a valid reason, too. I am an ACE member and I dont resemble anything close to what I see here. Stuff like that really makes me feel welcome here.............
SharkTums
Well obviously then the two of you haven't gotten to know us or the site too well! We've repeatedly said that not ALL ACEers are fat and obnoxious, but a bunch of them are! I'm not going to let this thread turn into another ACE debate. There's a reason why that club is decaying while other clubs and sites are flourishing! Most people don't know enough about the inner workings of ACE to understand that, and that's fine! Carnage
It's just a case of a few bad apples ruining it for the rest of them. There's alot of ACErs that just happen to be fat, arrogant, obnoxious, and extremely annoying. There's quite a few nice people who are in ACE, but it's the pricks that get noticed. Go to a major coaster event and you'll be able to pick out the one's that I'm referring to.
terrancew_hod
I remember somebody posting a video of ACErs on TTD. They fit, but the train rolled back OOOO! I wanna see that one! And I am glad I don't see anything like that in person. At one time I thought about joining a coaster club, but then I just go for the rides. I really can't be bothered though with how many times I've ridden any particular ride; that's too much like documenting and if anyone does programming for a living they know what I mean! Masked_Maverick
Enough about ACErs, I think all is in order to start a TPR club. Just pay like a little less than what ACE makes you pay per year and be able to go to different meets and stuff. Or maybe I'm just being really stupid and this will never happen. I need to sleep more.---Brent I second that. most acers that I have encountered (or as I call them ACE-holes) have been egotistical "I know it all and you don't know anything" idiots make me mad. a TPR club would be much better and what do ya know it's members would actually have a sense of humor about things.. Homer
I'm against the idea of having TPR as a "club." I think the club itself is the reason why ACErs are a little bit chauvinistic. They are kind of like "The Heathers" (not the GAP Heathers ), most of them are arrogant and kind of biased towards one general opinion such as "Cedar Point is the bestestest theme park EVAR!", etc. Having TPR as a club would mean that the laid back forum we have right now could turn into a sort of elitist/snobby enthusiast board (like Coasterbuzz ). Masked_Maverick
^ You do have a point there I wouldn't to have TPR turn into another Pointbuzz or Coasterbuzz their egotism and chauvanism is part of the reason I don't even bother posting on any of those sites other than the fact I have some problems with the webmaster of both sites. coasterrider1998
I am an ACEr and I have only discovered more and more things each year. Also, I don't think CP is the best park ever...IOA is more of my choice. /Cr98\
sixflagsguy5
It's kind of funny that you bring up ACErs thinking that CP is the best park, because when I went to CP back in 2002 I hated it and didn't plan on going back until they got a few new coasters. And I know what you meen about people on message boards being "snobby" or acting like they know it all. Nobody's opinion is better then someone elses and when people argue about what someone thought of a coaster/ park it gets really annoying. The $65 yearly fee isn't too bad I guess, because you get some free magazines and newsletters with that and then you can get into events. I've only been to one official event (no coaster con) and two other non-official events (condor re-opening and HH construction tour). Reality15
I've been a member of ACE for the past six years. In that time, I've attended two events and that's about it. Those events (TimbersFest 2005, 2006) I could have gotten in with something as simple as a Coasterbuzz Club membership. Needless to say, it's not worth $65 to continue that this year. I'm looking at joining ECC this year, just because it is cheaper and because the magazine sounds like it's much better than ANYTHING ACE could ever do. All Clear
I'll finish up my second year as an ACEr this coming summer and I won't be renewing. There are much less expensive ways to get into the only event that I really liked (Holiwood Nights). Also, the newsletters are layed out in a way that makes them almost unreadable and Rollercoaster magazine is useless to me since I can get all the coaster porn I need on the internet for free. I'll spend the $65 I save on lunch at Busch Gardens or something.
Lori
Your car also must be endlessly labeled with bumper stickers of parks or of rides you have been on. True story... while we were going to SFGAm for marching band, we were passed by a light, sparkly-green VW beetle with personalized, coaster-themed license plates, and over 100 bumper sticker of parks/rides. It was scary. Heh. That car has been in my driveway a time or two.
BarryH
^^When I was in ACE many years ago, it only costs $50 to renew. Even then, I didn't think it was worth renewing. I just didn't go to events because they were too far away. I don't recall any ACE events in Florida when I was a member. Sure, I got a magazine and a newsletter, but I usually got the information from the Internet long before the literature came out. I didn't use the discounts too often either. So I didn't see the point of paying $50 for a newsletter and a magazine.
coaster911
Fine Joey, see if this makes you happy: How to join ACE: First you're going to want to gain at least 78 pounds, no matter how much you currently weigh. Then make sure to start eating and talking about cake A LOT. Finally, you're going to want to make sure you're ready to never have sex again. Cause you'll be too busy recording what seat you last sat in on the Beast and how awesome it was. This is why i don't post here anymore. If you don't like ACE that's fine... I have a few problems of my own with it but this is just an immature response based solely on ancedotal evidence and sterotypes which is intellectual laziness at best. Can you grow up or are you just bitter cause you were not made a regional rep? ACE has problems but so do you, as do we all, ( myself included). people living in glass houses....
