Finally began my playthrough on Tomb Raider. So far it looks like a solid title! To me, it still feels very much like TR sans the clunky controls (you should have seen me try to control Lara on TR3 with the flat D-pad...kept walking into walls). Only strangeness: when I got to one of the action scenes, it was not registering that I was wiggling the left analog stick, thus being a bug in the game. After 15 tries and doing a hard reset, the game worked fine. Sounds like there may be some patches coming soon for the PS3 version

Jackbox Party Pack 7 was released today! Excited to give these new games a shot tonight, I've been following the 5 new games pretty closely the past few weeks to get a feel for them and what to expect

Trekking through LOZ:OOT3D right now. I'm in the Ice Cavern mini-dungeon with all of the "blue fires" (this post comes from a Europa Park fanboy), which can only mean that a certain dreaded water dungeon is coming soon, though I hear it doesn't nearly suck as much as in the N64 version due to the fact that you can equip/unequip the iron boots with the touch screen rather than having to open and close the gear menu a gazillion times.

As for how I like the game so far, the improved graphics are definitely pleasing to the eye, the game retains all of OOTs goodness, you can rematch all the bosses, and IMO the best change of all...THE AIMING CONTROLS!!!

In the N64 and VC versions I would always have trouble aiming the slingshot, hookshot, and bow due to the fact that the slightest movement of the control stick would cause the first-person cam to abruptly move and miss whatever I was targeting. In the 3DS version, it's soooooo much better! Now the speed at which the aim cam of a projectile weapon moves varies with how far the circle pad is pushed from the center, allowing for much more precise aiming and more successful shots.

Ah, so you did get OoT! Gotta love those blue fires in the ice cavern

Agreed, graphics hugely improved. Just for kicks I dusted off my N64 cart, hooked up the N64 and tried it out...wow, so much fuzzier and blocky!

The Water Temple...what was everyone complaining about? I breezed through that. The toughest part (assuming you beat the N64 version) was that darn water hallway (after defeating shadow Link) that features a series of annoying vortexes...(yay coaster references to a certain B&M standup ). They were a pain to get out of if you get stuck in them. Touch screen controls helped though, no navigating through menus to remove/put on the boots. So the only 2 annoyances in the Water Temple were constantly raising and lowering the water level, and the vortex things I mentioned. Well, Water levels in general however just suck, period (Especially in a Sonic game where you're supposed to be running for crying out loud!).

I have yet to finish my Master Quest playthrough, currently stuck in Dodongo's Cavern. Ok, so I got lazy and got sidetracked

Oh..did I say that Navi is a COMPLETE IDIOT?!?!?

Uh...Navi? The princess is right in front of you!!!

They really did an awesome job with that game. It was definitely worth it to re-buy an old game. I still need to finish playing LOZ: Skyward Sword. Started it, but haven't played it for a while.

^I need to pick back up on Skyward Sword as well. Since I got the Wii U, I've been too lazy to transfer my save over to it and I have the original Wii not hooked up at the moment. I wasn't that far in the game and I don't mind starting fresh again just to refresh me on what happened...

The boss though in the first dungeon did creep me out though, as he appeared to get close to Link and next thing I see his tongue flails about. Yikes!

(About the 2:00 mark)

I agree about the Water Temple not being as bad as most people make it out to be. It's a bit long, but I wouldn't consider it to be too hard or annoying. It has relaxing music, and overall I just feel really calm when going through it, and just accept that it's a really long dungeon.

Great Bay Temple from Majora's Mask on the other hand is a MUCH different story. I really like that dungeon a lot, good music, good puzzles, good theming, challenging and intense boss fight at the end. However, navigating through those stupidly fast water currents in the central water wheel often leaves me washed up in the wrong room and forces me to backtrack. It also has one of the most annoying mini bosses in the ENTIRE series: Wart. Specifically, its second phase.

Once you've yanked off and destroyed enough pink bubbles from this giant eyeball with the hookshot, he will drop to the floor from the ceiling, release a TON of pink bubbles (about 2/3-3/4 of the bubbles on his body) that bounce EVERYWHERE and are ridiculously hard to dodge (basically, its just like playing a Japanese bullet-hell shmup but in a Zelda game), and he will charge all over the room ramming into walls in random directions, and while I'm busy destroying all the annoying bubbles, I can't concentrate on Warts insane, random, spastic attack pattern of charging all over the place. And he's FAST. Really F**KING FAST!!! In order to finish Wart off, you have to shoot him several times in the eye with the bow and arrow, but he's SO FAST that you only have a split second to shoot him before he rams into you! AAAAGH!

OK, he isn't as hard for me now because of how much practice I have fighting him, but Wart still sometimes gets me today, and is the source of many bad childhood memories. Not the hardest or most annoying boss/miniboss in any game, but definitely in the 3D Zelda games. A huge, unexpected difficulty spike in the middle of the game, that's for sure.

/rant about Wart.

Beat Duke Nukem Forever last night; the final boss was pretty easy compared to some others in the game.

Not sure what all the hate was about with the game; it was pretty much everything I expected from a DN game; lots of gore and the occasional wisecrack from Duke.

Still got over 2 weeks until my birthday and Bioshock is in my hands, so I'll probably start the single player campaign on Twisted Metal or do some Multiplayer in BioShock 2.

^ You're going to LOVE that game. Seriously. It's amazing.

So I just completed Episode 2 of The Walking Dead. I don't want to spoil anything, but for any of you who played it yourselves, did you help Kenny or Lilly when the Larry "thing" happened?

Which one?

I've played a few TM missions with friends and its fantastic. If you meant Bioshock, I've been a huge fan since the first one came out.

I chose to help Lily at that point. After the consequences of that, and seeing what happens when you help Kenny, I'm honestly not sure which is worse. One is more gut-wrenchingly shocking, the other is more morally horrible... Seriously, though, the emotions that game brings out. Incredible.

Just started playing the new SimCity as well! It is amazing. I lost track of time playing and next thing I knew it was 5:30 a.m. Definitely worth the buy! They have also reduced the crashing! I have not had a problem at all. I can't figure out how to create a successful Casino City though, Definitely have to get more tourists in my city.

It would have been a decent game like 5-10 years ago. It was just kind of dated. As the stereotype vapor ware game, there was just no way that it was going to live up to the hype. It wasn't horrible by any means, but just not worth the wait.

I found the same thing with Rage. So long in development, that it just felt flat.

^Fair enough. The game really was a decade late, but I guess the kid in me really liked playing Duke Nukem again.

His "After 12 ------ years, it better be good" response to how he liked the game when you start off was pretty awesome.

I like the new Sim City, but there's no reason to play it when you have games like sim city 4. I think that one was (by far) the best in the series. But I really want to know: With one of SC4's strong points being the fantastic soundtrack, how good is the new one's compared to it?

I also recently finished ep2... Man did that mess me up! I was actually shouting at the television. Almost had me in tears! Haven't started ep 3 yet. I am in no major rush to play through all the episodes quite yet. I want to have something to look forward to after the REAL season ends on TV... what a masterfully crafted game!

^^Hopefully it won't be as terrible as BioShock 2. *shudders*

Back on the topic of The Walking Dead, Episode Three of The Walking Dead Game is seriously a shocker. I downloaded it and started playing on the PS3 port.

I honestly think I died a little inside today.

...Until a game-breaking visual glitch (where the camera decides to bury itself in the dirt and look at some far away trees) happened and I was forced to quit.

Curse you, TellTale!

Does anyone know how I can contact them? This really is a serious problem.

Moving along, sort of, on Tomb Raider. I just upgraded my axe to go through the gate and now have hands tied up and have to do stealth mode...sort of reminds me of Ocarina of Time, trying to sneak past the guards to get to Princess Zelda...but a little more...violent (Link just gets kicked out, Lara, takes an arrow to the knee...or the thigh rather).

For those itching to get some new games (or catch up on games missed), Target stores (and Target.com) is having a Buy2Get1FREE sale this week (3/17 to 3/23). All systems. And on the website I was able to purchase games that aren't being released until later on this week. So I was able to preorder LegoCity:Undercover and Need For Speed:Most Wanted both for WiiU. Also got TombRaider for the 360 (which we already have, but still have the original receipt to get a refund on the un-opened copy). So three brand spanking new games for $120 incl shipping!

WiiU owners... the game drought may finally be over... MANY "new" GAMES ARE BEING RELEASED THIS WEEK or last week in one case...

The Amazing Spider-man (already out and its great!)

LegoCity:Undercover (I WANT TO PLAY THIS NOW!)

Need For Speed:Most Wanted U (definitive vers according to developer @ Criterion)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (I didn't like MHTri on Wii personally)

Walking Dead:Survival Instincts (also on 360/PS3; I'm waiting for reviews...)

eShop title Zen Pinball2 (must play pinball on the WiiU gamepad!)

This is a great week for releases... being a launch day WiiU owner, it seems like its been a long wait! Can't wait to play!!

Is there any interest in Dota 2 here? I think it'd be kinda cool to have a TPR group that plays a few games now and again.

I'm still in the process of trying out different heroes to find a playstyle I enjoy, but I especially have liked Weaver, Slark, Vengeful Spirit, and Jakiro. And with a little over 25 hours of games (both practice and ranked) aside some friends, I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable with the game. I like it a lot.

Moving along on my quest to play games that are at least a year old....

Just finished Batman Arkham City. I like more than the Arkham Asylum, but found another story line with Joker as the main antagonist kind of dull....speaking of which, I didn't get a code for the Catwoman missions. Anyone know where I might "find" one? You can PM me. ::wink::

I'm now onto Hitman:Absolution which I'm enjoying. Love the Hitman series!

^^ The Dota 2 idea sounds good, but personally, I'd much rather see a TPR TF2 community come up. That would be fantastic.

^I just beat that game too a few weeks ago. I liked it, but the stealth wasn't as intense and the plotline was more refined in Asylum. I liked the first one better.
