Waterpark Photo TR

Julia and I have season passes to the beach waterpark right down the street from PKI, as we feel it's the best value for getting what we want: A place to cool off during the hot summer months. The last day they're open for swimming was yesterday, the 10th, and they do it with a little twist: You can bring your dog with you! All you need is proof that you are up to date with vaccinations and a 6-foot leash, and there's tons of games and fun for all dogs and people. Julia and I had a great time and it was really different seeing all these dogs in the middle of the waterpark!! I took some photos to share, as it's a sight I don't think a lot of you have seen.

After getting one of my quesidillas that I love so much from the wavepool-side grill, I was happy, too! That's all!

As you can see, Bailey had a great time.

As they always do on the weekends at the Beach, a live band was playing.

The Banzai, or the "water up the nose makes you cough" Slide. Although it does have some nice airtime.

These slides look like nothing now, but come Holidayfest they are the most insane dry tobaggan slides you'll ever ride!

Did I mention the place was PACKED, and there were booths everywhere to play games and win free pet stuff.

She's proud of her big boy!

Bailey loves to swim in Julia's pond, so this was no sweat for him!

There were a LOT of people there

Random dog photos, this dog was amazing at fetching a tennis ball from the deep end of the pool (8ft deep)

Sadly, as I forgot my "no snaps, zippers, or buckles" swimsuit, I cannot ride the cliff today!

WTF? Here's a sight you don't usually see at a waterpark.

It was chilly when we arrived, and most of the action was at the wave pool, but a few people braved the lazy river.

I love this waterpark. It's small but not too small.

They even had the horse carriage rides, hyping up their (really fun) Holidayfest.

This was certainly a dog's paradis today.

after a 10-minute drive, we're here!

For you log-home enthusiasts, yes, Julia's parents live in a log home they built themselves. Pretty cool, huh?

The unsuspecting Bailey, who doesn't know he'll be making his first waterpark trip today.

^^ Yeah, but the dogs were only in the wave pool area, so there were people on the various slides and in the other (heated) pool area (The Pearl), as well as the lazy river and the kids play areas. There were a LOT of dogs there, but the crowds on the slides, as you can see from the photos, was very minimal. Partially to blame is the fact that it WAS slightly chilly for waterpark fun. We had a blast, though, and I will definitely go again next year given the chance.

Aww... even though my dog can't swim (he's a pug), he loves to go in the water where he can just walk. And, he likes drinking the chlorinated water (I know, WTF!) He would've loved that.

There were pugs there, and many small dogs were in the wave pool. They make life jackets for the dogs that keep them floating and upright, with enough freedom of motion for them to kick. I didn't get any pictures of them, but they had them for sale at one of the booths, and I believe even for a one-day rental.

^To answer your question, we didn't encounter any while we were there (we were there from 2-4:30, but we'd heard secondhand stories about seeing a floater or two, but they were handled professionally and promptly cleaned up. As I said, this was the very last day for the wave pool anyway, so after this it will be drained for the offseason.

That's really neat! I've never seen anything like that before. Were there any problems with aggressive dogs, or did the leash rules take care of that? Also, that dog is gorgeous.

Bailey is a great dog, he didn't even bark once the entire day. There was some barking, but for the most part we didn't see any problems. Most people with problem dogs know that they have a dog that doesn't do well around other dogs. The website encouraged "Obediant dogs only", and most people seemed to abide by that rule. There were no dogs on the slides of course, for safety reasons, but they were allowed to "dive" into the deep section of the wave pool from the side. I even got to go in after Bailey (with the guards permission, of course) and jump into the wave pool, which is normally not allowed. All the dogs who weren't swimming, and most of the dogs who were were all on leashes less than 8 feet long, so people could control them really well. The people who seemed to get the biggest kick out of the day seemed to be the children who got to get in the wavepool with all those dogs. Think about it: Where else can you swim with 50-75 dogs at a time?

^^LMAO that would be funny to see how the dogs would react. I have 2 pups of my own, and I know whenever they see me in the water, they absolutely flip out,

Bailey looks like an adorable lil sucker puppy, wish my dogs were as brave around water as he is. Now about those dry toboggan slides, will the end just dump you out on the sand? Can we say "abrasion weight loss"?
