Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) Discussion Thread

P. 117: The Exorcist & Curse of Pandora's Box HHN houses announced!

Recommended Posts

This is the one ride that I am most excited about. Mainly because Universal seems to be pretty secretive about. I mean all we really know is from the concept photos and that it is suppost to be a newer Spiderman type ride. At least thats all I know. Anyway when does Singapore's open?

Late 2011-Early 2012 okay gforce.

I wonder how Universal is going to use the elevators. I assume that they will have some kind of a screen and ride scene as the ride climbs to the second story.

Also, won't the shafts have to be able to hold two elevators (ala Journey To Atlantis SWSD) to keep the capacity high? if not, those better be some pretty darn fast elevators.

Just THought of Something. Why did they wait this long to make a Transformers Ride? The "Final" Film has been released to Mixed Reviews. Why not open one in 2009?

Because collectively, the movies have made approximately $3.1 Billion dollars for Universal so far (and still climbing as part three is still in theaters and DVD sales continue on).

Also Consider Jurassic Park (the ride) took six years to develop and premiered three years after the original movie (one year before the sequel). If Universal waited to see how the first movie performed before making any attempt to create an attraction for it, 2012 seems about on course for the development of such a large scale project.

^ or the world of Harry Potter. Frankly, I'm waiting for Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider The Ride.

Quick bit about the TF3 movie.. I actually liked it, but notice this: the movies feel like long episodes because the last two used similar plots and elements from the 80's cartoon series storylines. (Fans: look up "Megatron's Master Plan") If they keep making new ones, I'll be happy, and if not, that's fine too.

Universal Singapore has launched a blog for the ride!

The video appears to show a few seconds of ride video and the text in the blog gives away the story:

Join us as a recruit of N.E.S.T (Nonbiological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty), the alliance between the humans and the AUTOBOTS, as you prepare to defend Earth against the DECEPTICONS, thwarting their attempt to steal the AllSpark shard.

For those humans who have not yet been exposed to the reality of AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS, stay tuned to this blog and you’ll soon learn of the epic intergalactic battle for the AllSpark.

So what is TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle all about? Well for starters, the 4-minute hyper-realistic ride will have you racing through the city as you zip through subway tunnels, down city streets and across rooftops with EVAC – your escape vehicle and member of the AUTOBOTS – as you are chased by DECEPTICONS.

The fate of Planet Earth is in your hands.

Just posted on the Transformers ride blog.

The final shard is protected deep inside the NEST facility where you’ll arrive for duty. It is your mission, with the help of the AUTOBOTS as a recruit of NEST to protect this from the DECEPTICONS.

^We'll find out when Transformers opens in Singapore!

That would mean that this building will also have the two lifts shown in the construction for Hollywood's. Like I said on a previous page, I'll be very curious to see how the elevators are run, with one or two elevators per shaft...

The latter seems more likely for capacity's sake. This thing should be a major people eater!

I posted this in a thread of my own because I hadn't seen this one (oops).

The first axe for me should go to aspects of the Studio Tour. I never liked the Fast and the Furious show segment, and I do not get the point at all of the swirling Mummy tunnel (and was extremely dismayed that it is beginning to fray, and you can see the outer workings of it). When the god awful, 'Twister: Ride It Out' premiered at USF, I was sure this would become a tour addition, but thankfully not! I'm not too sure what I would replace these two segments with though.

I would also re-do the Jaws scene, and make the shark far more realistic. It looks very shabby and outdated, and Universal could certainly do better.

Jurassic Park could do with some work, as it's starting to look a little old (with the ride mechanics and animatronic housings clearly visible in the water last time I was there). Also I can't remember the last time I saw the Jeep drop scene working, and the animatronics in general look a little blocky when they move. Still an awesome ride though.

Whilst Water World is very dated, I'll be sorry to see this amazing show go. Even though it's the fakest plane I've ever seen !

T2:3D still has it for me as well. An awesome attraction. But still, dated.

Universal's House of Horrors, whilst pretty cool, could have been so much better, and this attraction has opened three times under the same formula and still doesn't quite work.

I'd like to see a new major E-Ticket at Universal Hollywood (aside from Transformers), as although an awesome park it is severely lacking in rides.

I can see something along the lines of Backlot Stunt Coaster (like WB Movie World) being added, and I think this would be pretty cool if given a huge Universal-style budget.

Also, with the upcoming re-make of The Thing, I can see Universal dedicating at least a walk-through exhibit to it.

Hopefully, (and most likely) there is a new coaster or thrill involved. This place now charges almost the same as Disneyland, and I would currently much rather spend my day there. This seems to be exactly what the park needs, and, while part of me is glad to see this, another side of me says, "well its about time..."

New queue photo posted on the blog. Sexy.

HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL: This is the orientation room in the NEST facility; Recruits who will join in the battle will receive a briefing from General Morshower here. You must pay attention when you arrive, it is important to know our allies.

AUTOBOTS RACHET and BUMBLEBEE will explain to you how the power-hungry DECEPTICONS came to Earth in search of the ALLSPARK. The leader of the AUTOBOTS, OPTIMUS PRIME, will also introduce the other AUTOBOTS: IRONHIDE, SIDESWIPE, and WHEELIE.

Once you are briefed, you will need to prepare yourself, mentally and physically, for this Ultimate 3-D Battle.

^ I don't think most theme park goers are paying attention to film canon when going on these rides... They just want iconic things they remember from the movies (The Death Star, the rolling ball from Raiders, etc)
