Vekomakid
Yep that’s definitely the first positive review I have heard for stranger things. Despite being a big fan of the show I hope ST doesn’t return again next year (give another property that soundstage). My top mazes were Us, Ghostbusters and Pandora’s box. jarmor
I went to HHN a couple weeks ago and only two houses stood out to me, US and Creepshow. While I skipped Klowns, Wolf vs frank and TWD I feel that all the rest were just choked full of black walls with string hanging down. I mean, you get more from a local haunt. Thinking about it, holidays was kinda good. With that being said, the scares are far more intense in Hollywood. I do want to bring this up, the layout of mazes at Hollywood sucks. Like you have to walk all the way around from the far out houses just to get to klowns when it's literally right there. I did get a chance to check out Jurassic World. I really liked it! The inclusion of more dinos in the building and making it a habitat vs the industrial setting really improved the ride. Do I want it in Orlando, nope but I really enjoyed it in Hollywood. ryder
^I know what you mean about going all the way around for Klownz, but that pathway access is very, very narrow. It nearly jams up with just one way traffic. With two way traffic, it'd literally be gridlock most of the time (remember, it's a backstage area not normally used for park guests, so it wasn't designed to be super wide). So between the two options, I'd rather walk all the way around that be stuck in the equivalent of "Disneyland after the fireworks" traffic for hours at a time. jarmor
I wonder if they can reverse the flow of the maze and have it enter behind the mummy by the stairway of the stars? That way, it can still exit out right there and the path to the backlot mazes could support going and coming traffic.
jedimaster1227
Universal Studios Hollywood has announced new details about the new "The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash" attraction opening at the park this Spring. These details include the reprisal of the voice cast's roles for the attraction as well as new technology for the experience! https://www.nbcumv.com/news/cast-universal-pictures-and-illumination%E2%80%99s-secret-life-pets-films-reprise-their-roles-universal?division=4&network=33127&show=151112 The voice talent behind the lovable furry stars of Illumination’s global blockbuster hits The Secret Life of Pets and The Secret Life of Pets 2 unleash their animal instincts to reprise their roles in Universal Studios Hollywood’s lively new ride, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!,” opening in Spring 2020, which answer the question, “What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?” This marks the first time the ensemble cast perform the voices of their iconic characters for a theme park attraction. The film’s talent and their alter egos include Patton Oswalt as Max, Kevin Hart as Snowball, Eric Stonestreet as Duke, Jenny Slate as Gidget, Tiffany Haddish as Daisy, Lake Bell as Chloe, Dana Carvey as Pops, Chris Renaud as Norman, Hannibal Buress as Buddy, Bobby Moynihan as Mel, Jessica DiCicco as Princess and Tara Strong as Pickles. The state-of-the-art ride will employ a series of technological firsts that combine sophisticated facial recognition with enhanced gesture tracking, which helps to identify each guest as a unique stray puppy for the duration of the ride. Every time guests experience “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” they will likely see themselves characterized as a different stray puppy, creating a uniquely new experience with each ride. “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” will be located on Pets Place, previously referred to as Baker Street, and adjacent to the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” attractions. With the installation of all-new store front facades, Pets Place will capture the charm of a busy NY street, including an iconic NYC subway station. The new ride features the original voice cast from the films, as well as 64 animated figures and an optical enhanced gesture-tracking technology for a unique ride experience. This attraction will feature a Virtual Line and a non-traditional queue experience leading up to the boarding station. “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” opens at Universal Studios Hollywood on March 27, bringing an astounding 64 animated figures to this all-new tech-savvy ride based on Illumination’s blockbuster The Secret Life of Pets films, which answer the question, “What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?” The entertaining new ride features original voice talent from The Secret Life of Pets films who will unleash their animal instincts to reprise their roles for this exciting theme park attraction. The talent and their alter egos include Patton Oswalt as Max, Kevin Hart as Snowball, Eric Stonestreet as Duke, Jenny Slate as Gidget, Tiffany Haddish as Daisy, Lake Bell as Chloe, Dana Carvey as Pops, Chris Renaud as Norman, Hannibal Buress as Buddy, Bobby Moynihan as Mel, and Jessica DiCicco as Princess. “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” is a heartfelt experience that transforms guests into stray puppies as they journey to become loved and adopted. After all, adoption day is the ultimate rite of passage for every domesticated animal and, as such, the perfect theme of this engaging new ride as these beloved puppies find their forever homes. Combining 64 technologically-advanced animated figures, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” invites guests to meet some of their favorite characters from the movies, who themselves have transformed into dimensional beings. From blinking eyes to eye and eyebrow movements, from head tilts to head nods, from moving mouths to smiles, from ear curls to lip curls, from full torso twists to physically walking, the depth of mobility and function programmed within each of these loveable characters creates an experience unlike any other theme park ride. With the addition of hyper-realistic media and projection mapping, this impressive new ride is designed to fully immerse guests in a dynamic New York City landscape. Seated within ride vehicles that resemble cardboard boxes—reminiscent of where Katie first finds her beloved Max as a puppy—guests will travel along a track towards the Pet Adoption event and the ultimate happy ending: forever homes. The ride will feature state-of-the-art optical enhanced gesture-tracking technology, which helps to identify each guest as a unique stray puppy for the duration of the ride. With an option to be transformed into one of 15 stray puppies, guests will enjoy a unique experience each time they ride “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” Virtual Line technology is another component of the experience, designed to help guests maximize their leisure time at the theme park. Guests can access Virtual Line via the official Universal Studios Hollywood app, available for free in the App Store and on Google Play or they can visit the Virtual Line kiosk located in the New York City subway station, situated adjacent to the ride. Both provide guests with options to experience the ride based on the next available times and will be available to guests within the theme park as needed. Virtual Line complements the ride’s non-traditional queue which invites guests to explore the area at their leisure and freely roam the ride’s corridors—reminiscent of Katie’s NYC apartment building—explore dachshund Buddy’s apartment, Snowball owner Molly’s living room as well as Max and Duke’s apartment, until they reach the ride’s boarding station. “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” will be located on Pets Place, previously referred to as Baker Street, and adjacent to the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” attractions. With the installation of store front facades, Pets Place will capture the charm of a busy New York City street, including an iconic NYC subway station, which serves as the in-park location for the Virtual Line. Nrthwnd
I like it, that we really don't know everything inside of the show building. I mean, I have no idea how this attraction is laid out. Nothing leaked out... so far. (Except the ride vehicle, the animatronics, and the 'story' of it.)

ryder
As of today, Universal Citywalk has partially opened. Parking is free (at the moment), and the following are supposed to be open: Voodoo Doughnut Johnny Rockets Blaze Pizza Starbucks Crepe Cafe Pizza Hut & KFC Taco Bell Buca di Beppo Shoe Palace Skechers Guess Accessories On a side note, apparently the Smashburger is being replaced by The Habit (not open yet). I'm really looking forward to The Habit replacing Smashburger. Smashburger (at this specific location, I haven't been to other locations) really sucked. So far CityWalk has been dead, but that's to be expected since not much is open yet. I'm surprised that we haven't heard an official opening date for the park since Disneyland already announced, but the park has been ramping up in person staffing levels so I wouldn't be surprised if an opening date is too far away. KBrylczyk
I'm really looking forward to The Habit replacing Smashburger. Smashburger (at this specific location, I haven't been to other locations) really sucked. IMO Smashburger has always been extremely overrated, kinda like In & Out. No matter how you make it seem like your fast food burger is different and better than the others, it's still just a fast food burger. Some are just more expensive than others. I'm not saying a McDonald's burger is the same as Smash or In & Out, I'm just saying they're sub-par. Habit Burger falls into the same category, so don't get your hopes up. So far CityWalk has been dead, but that's to be expected since not much is open yet. I'm surprised that we haven't heard an official opening date for the park since Disneyland already announced, but the park has been ramping up in person staffing levels so I wouldn't be surprised if an opening date is too far away. Perhaps it's due to them focusing more resources on getting their backlot and soundstages open again for movies rather than getting theme park guests in. Remember that those sets and soundstages are rented out by every player in the industry. They're not solely used for Universal films. If Hollywood has approval to start filming again I'm sure they're focusing on making themselves available.
robbalvey
IMO Smashburger has always been extremely overrated, kinda like In & Out. I had never heard of it before one opened up here in Orlando. We went. It was good. Would gladly go back. I actually have not heard a single person mention Smashburger again until I just read this thread. I had no idea it was "overrated" or even "rated" at all. For the record, I think In N Out is stupid and the people who claim In N Out is the best thing ever are stupid. Now THAT is a place that is overrated. I literally had never even heard of Smashburger before!
