Updated Safety Guidelines

Per LA County’s Public Health order, beginning on October 7, all persons ages 12 and older must be prepared to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test taken within 72 hours of visit, prior to entry to the theme park. Persons ages 18+ must also show photo ID. Full COVID-19 vaccination means that two weeks have passed since receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or since receipt of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/Janssen). Verification will take place when required based on theme park attendance. Regardless of vaccination status, face coverings are required to be worn at all times, both indoors and outdoors, when visiting the theme park. At Universal CityWalk, face coverings are required to be worn indoors.

We encourage all guests to keep a safe distance between travel parties, and we remain focused on maintaining the highest cleanliness and sanitization standards.

Here are the latest safety updates for your visit:

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination are a vaccination card or photo/digital photo of vaccination card (including name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered), a digital vaccination record from the California Department of Public Health or an approved company, or documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider, in each case showing that at least two weeks have passed since receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or since receipt of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/Janssen). For those vaccinated outside the United States, two weeks must have passed since the last dose of a vaccine that is listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Acceptable forms of proof of negative test are a printed document, email or text message displayed on a phone from a test provider or laboratory. The information should include person's name, type of test performed, and negative test result (date of test must be within prior 72 hours.) A PCR or antigen test is acceptable. A COVID-19 self-test, sometimes referred to as “home test,” is not acceptable.

Regardless of vaccination status, face coverings are required to be worn at all times, both indoors and outdoors, when visiting the theme park. At Universal CityWalk, face coverings are required to be worn in all indoor locations.

We encourage all guests to keep a safe distance between travel parties

We remain focused on maintaining the highest cleanliness and sanitization standards

Guests should review and comply with all travel requirements including State Travel Advisories and Local Travel Advisories

So it sounds like they'll only be checking vax cards on crowded days - or days when they expect large crowds.

The LA county order only applies at 10k and above.

How busy does USH get during the day when the Halloween events are on?  Tossing up whether to go during the day on a friday in late october, or wait a week and a bit until Halloween and go then mid week on our way back.

Hard to say, but it's not really like Knotts or Six Flags — which are usually very quiet during the day. There's some crossover when HHN begins and the day crowd are leaving, and the place always looks slammed to me.

What reason would you want to come in the day time?  They do offer a after 2pm combo HHN ticket.

Surprised no one is talking about the rumors for the Fast and Furious coaster. Looks pretty imminent at this point due to permits being filed and concept art being leaked. Honestly I could do without the “drift“ gimmick and just get the west coast version of Velocicoaster. I’ll reserve final judgment when the plans are released. Nonetheless over the moon that USH is getting a legit coaster!!!!

I have seen some very interesting looking NL creations on this coaster. If it turns out as good as those it could become the best coaster on the west coast

I knew moving 2 blocks from USH would pay off if I could just hold out for 10 years!!!

Actually, though, this is really exciting. Universal Hollywood is really lacking in attractions compared to its competitors and this will be a huge draw for it. I also don't really see the need for the capacity-reducing "drifting" cars, but I'll take it whatever we get. BRING ON THE INTAMIN!!!!

For those who frequent USH often for HHN... We are taking our first trip out to HHN in Hollywood on Thursday Oct 27th and bought the early-entry type deal thing so we can be in the park at the start of the event. We have not bought express, and debate if we want/need to, so my question is... Even if the event should sell out ticket wise, do express passes often sell out as well? We have run into that in Orlando before where express was sold out, but to be honest we have only really got express 2 or 3 times since 2004 (going almost every year). We basically know the drill and get all the houses done in a single night most of the time with stay and scream and hustling around the park from the get-go, so it's really non-issue there for us. We have been to USH before, so no real concern about riding anything. We really are just there for HHN alone.

In my mind I see USH being an 'easier' HHN event to tackle, but perhaps that is not the case. Thoughts/opinions? Right now, we are thinking on seeing how it is once there and buying express if we absolutely need it.

We only have the single night, and going to SFMM the next day to conclude our short 2 day trip to LA before flying to MCO for HHN in Orlando.

^We were at HHN Hollywood on Saturday and it was the busiest we have ever seen that park.  Houses during early entry were over an hour and they have weird staggered openings and are like 30min apart in different corners of the park.  And don't forget about the Terror Tram which will also have a decent wait time. The Express passes were AMAZING!!!! No lines at all. We're used to Orlando where you still end up waiting 20min with express but that was never the case in Hollywood.  They did sell out the night we were there, but then at 11pm they started selling them again.  I know it's expensive, but for us it was sooooo worth it to upgrade.  Even allowed us to do two of the houses twice as we got opening standby for two of them, and then went back with express later.

Sorry if this seems off-topic, but does anyone have footages of Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights 2000, including the footages of that year's haunted houses? Knowing what was it like to experience these haunted houses would be greatly appreciated.

Does Hollywood not sell express passes only on the website like Orlando? Am I missing something? It all looks like combo tickets only, with no option to just buy express for whatever night. We already have our tickets, so just wanted to look into what the express options were.

We may look into that after 11pm express if we need it. Not sure it's worth (from what it appears) is $200+ for normal express passes per person... If we miss a house or two, so be it. But for the 11pm express option, can you buy those earlier in the night or do they go on sale at 11pm in the park?

A limited number of express might be available at the park. Online I believe express is only sold as its own ticket. The after 11s will go on sale in the park around 9 if whatever algorithm they use decides that enough people have used their express passes that there will be enough capacity available. They obviously won’t scan in until 11.

No loss with these two (craptacular) shows closing, and hopefully this means they'll finally kill the really really terrible Jabbawockeez HHN show.  That being said, if they relocate to the Waterworld arena and give us a show with explosions and water breakdancing I'm all for it.

What happened to these message boards?? Used to be the place to really talk coasters and rumors. Now it’s a ghost town. USH is about to get an Intamin custom free spin mega coaster and no one cares. Pretty sad
