The expansion of Harry Potter is happening on land that was once used as a non-studio space (the Gibson theatre). They won't move into their open space because they use all of the available room for filming. Yeah, they have the land but they chose to dedicate it to the more lucrative business. Filming multiple movies from multiple studios (they rent to Disney, Warner, Paramount, Fox, etc) is MUCH more profitable than building a new ride or two. The theme park business is the second most profitable division of the company (behind the cable division), and Comcast has made it very clear they intend to keep investing in the parks, so I would never say never... This. Two years ago, if someone said that HHN would have not one, but two mazes and a scare zone on New York street, you would have been called crazy. Prioritys are changing at USH. A pretty sizable crane is now being built on the Harry Potter site... A sign has been added to "Miss Hattie's Home for Girls". And the Despicable Me construction Walls have been pushed out even further. Gru's car is now parked out in front of his house! Love all the detail! Off to the side, what appears to be a basketball game is already up. I love the name! The frames for the entrance area games are already up! Also off to the side, this sign is up! That area was wasted before and I always though that a kids area there would be a better use of space then the Curious George/Nick area was. Two of the games at the front of the queue the three games to the side of the building where the balloon pop game used to be The construction wall has come down in front of Minion Mayhem ...and for all you construction/harry potter geeks out there...you can see some steel up in the back of this photo (sorry it's so far away, the tram was already closed when I took it from the Bridge) The other side...Miss Hattie's and Super Silly Fun Land remained walled off. Check out Gru's neighborhood! Front lawns and everything...looks just like the movie. The VIP dining building (Moulin Rouge) got a fresh coat of paint. They may not see that as a necessity considering that. Speaking of which, I've never eaten at the crepe place at CityWalk! That's pretty shameful considering how much I go to USH. I should fix that next time I go. I haven't been to USH since the semester started for me but will once DM opens up. The new games look very nice and so does SSFL! I'm looking forward to seeing them in action as well as Springfield. Something else to throw out there: I've heard that there should be some soft opens for DM:MM in the next week or two. With a new Simpson’s themed restaurant expansion rumored to be announced soon as the replacement for the now demolished Doc’s fried chicken site, it would make sense to make Energon vanish now, only to bring it back in Flaming Moe form in 2015. By a similar notion, note that Energon was never sold in the Florida park, as their Transformers ride and Simpson’s area both opened together in Summer 2013. Wasn't it Flintstones for the theme of those games for the longest time? Despicable Me does look great, and certainly blends in better with the surrounding area quite a bit more than the old Terminator attraction.
