Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

Honestly none of the breakdowns going on right now are major except maybe Gatekeeper.

Looking at the live cams, Mantis and Millennium Force are both operating again, Skyhawk has been open, Raptor has been open all day... Gatekeeper is the only coaster that's suffering a prolonged breakdown and even that has only been 2 days.

The USA today official poll results are in and Cedar Point got 4th place. Six Flags Magic Mountain got 1st, Six Flags Great Adventure got 2nd, Dollywood got 3rd, and Hersheypark got 5th.

CP will get number one in the golden tickets.

Of course Cedar Point will get the golden ticket, Amusement Today loves Cedar Point. That's how Magnum XL-200 ranked higher than Intimidator 305.

^What's the problem?

simple: it is not the largest park coaster. (If you save the maximum 3-4)

the fact that they have turned off the comments from the video is a demonstration of how not want to be contradicted. pretty ridiculous, to be the flagship park of cedar fair.

golden ticket is a giant farce.

That sentence pretty much eating itself at this point. I don't even know what you're trying to say.

Oh, cool, SFMM is the largest coaster park even though when Colossus closes down, CP & SFMM will have the same amount of thrilling roller coasters. Not to mention that CP has a higher quantity of thrilling flat rides...

Yep, those kiddie coasters are really keeping SFMM with having that coveted coaster crown.

Yesterday at Cedar Point:

1. Gatekeeper was down all day.

2. Millennium was down for about an hour.

3. Mean Streak was stuck on the lift for a little bit, and a ride operator walked up the track and talked to the people stuck on the ride... ??? (extra weird, because it started again about 30 seconds later)

It was windy, which could be why...?

Or...?

They do seem to be having issues...

1. Gatekeeper has some issues with what seems to be the lift as there's a crane on site. At least there was yesterday.....

2. Only an hour? Not too bad.

3. If riders are stopped on a train outside of the station it is always a good idea for an operator to be sent out to talk to them. This keeps the riders calm and keeps them from doing something stupid like trying to get out of the restraints. I don't know the particular reason why the train was stopped or how Mean Streak's Lift starting procedures work but some coasters are programmed to where the lift has to be started locally at the bottom of the lift so it doesn't hurt to walk up there to talk to them.

Sounds like someone took out a camera or phone or whatever.

Seriously, these last few pages are filled with nothing but over-dramatic nonsense. Rides break. They are mechanical machines that run for more than 12 hours a day, every day.

I was on steel force once when the lift stopped for about twenty minutes. When they fixed the problem they sent someone up to the train to let us know that they fixed the problem, the ride was safe and they were about to start the lift back up, just so no one freaked out when it suddenly started moving after twenty minutes of just sitting there...

Seems like it was just an off day for the park...

Gatekeeper is closed again. No word from the park on if it may open later (I know yesterday they were very up-front about the fact that it wouldn't be opening so maybe that's a good sign).

Screamscape says they have insider sources that the issue is a broken chain which seems logical given the crane and where it was placed.
