Did they happen to mention how heavy that train is?

OK these are freaking cool. https://cedarpointonlineshop.com/

Made it out to Cedar Point this past weekend, October 17th-18th with my mom and dad to visit my sister working at the park. My sister works at Dorney, but since they closed early, a bunch of full time

Posted Images

The crane has been there for almost a week now.

Here are a few construction pictures I took this weekend.

A few facts that I was able to find out....

1. The tracks will not have sand in them

2. When they dug the holes for the footers, there was no issue with water.

3. The footers go down into the ground 10 feet.

4. The cement base for space spiral was scraped down 4 feet, and new cement will be laid over it.

5. The front gate will be totaly redone. The exsisting ticket booths will be torn down.

6. The season pass office may double in size.

7. The concession stands that are/were next to disaster transport will remain , but get a face lift.

8. The parking lot portion of the coaster will receive landscaping. There was no solid answer on what it will be.

Enjoy the pictures.

A last (blurry) look at the front gate lit up for the last time before it's revamp.

If this is anything like X flight in Chicago, it's going to be great. I am just surprised that there is not more buzz surrounding this ride.

Because it won't make you black out from the forces, therefore it is not worth considering. Alternately, B&M's tend to draw in the crowds quite a bit, and that's not okay.

I disagree I think there's lots of buzz. Interest always dies down a bit after the announcement until track is being erected. But all the times I was at the park this fall there was always a crowd gathered around the banner.

I personally feel that this may be (judging from stats/renders) one of the more forceful B&M's that we've seen in a while. I'm not stating in any way-shape-or-form that this will be anything like BTR. However, the Immelman, Dive Loop, and the Camel-back look like they'll pull a good amount of G's.

Edit:

They sure aren't wasting any time on that front gate. Looks like Mr. Dino might get the boot....

A great find and I thought I'd share.

Few notes

-Those people wound't NOT have the same thoughts about the ride now

-That line was ENORMOUS!

-The ride is just as exciting as the developers interview

-Cp came to Dinn asking for the highest "wood" coaster.

-Designing started during Oct/Nov.

-Construction started during August.

-Max +G's are 2.7 - 2.8

One thing Mean Streak has going for it is that it is IMO very beautiful looking. It would be more beautiful with bright red RMC Iron Horse track on it. Hopefully Cedar Point reconsiders and lets RMC get their hands on it!

I'm holding out hope for 2014/15 on this. I want them to realize the way they're currently re-tracking it is only making the ride boring, so I really want them to consider RMC. Please, Cedar Point!

This year was the first year that I've had Mean Streak ride with no trim on the lift hill and pretty much throughout and it was actually really good speed wise. That combined with a ride weaving through and around its majestic structure almost makes up for a lack of anything substantial in its elements. It didn't seem that rough, but them we rode near the front

"When we built Magnum back in 1989 the big question was what will Cedar Point do next? How will they out-due themselves? Well I'm hear to tell you, this year we introduced Mean Streak".
