Jerrykoala2112 0
If I said this already, then sorry. But did anyone notice how all the water rides at Cedar Point are right by each other?
CPmaverick 0
This doesn't really involve Rapids but i think that CP's next ride will most likely be a vekoma boomerang. I think there's a better chance of Cedar Point becoming a Six Flags park.
Skycoastin Steve 0
^^Yep, because it makes sense. All the water rides can feed off a central pump area rather than having a ton of separate ones throughout the park. And if people want to go from one water ride to the next they don't have to walk halfway around the 2 mile midway to do it. Then they can dry off right there and be on with their business. Â Sometimes I SWEAR people just fabricate things to bitch about with CP.
jarmor 10
Though I not a fan of the wettness factor... I look foward to riding this beast of a Log flume in MAY! this is a beast of a log flume?
Skycoastin Steve 0
^An 80+ foot drop on a log flume is relatively "beastly" I would think. I'm not sure what the world's tallest is, but most of them aren't that tall.
Jew 39
^^Yep, because it makes sense. I'm not familiar at all with the ride systems @ Cedar Point in particular, but I can tell you that water ride pumps are all extremely powerful on their own, so it would be quite impressive if CP really did have one central water basin/pumping system for multiple rides. Skycoastin Steve 0
^I'm not entirely sure, but I know they have a massive pump area around behind Thunder Canyon near Perimeter Road. Obviously the rides aren't all powered by one pump, but they can centralize the piping and waterworks by having all the water rides in one area of the park. Plus, just the way the layout is there, the "watery" type rides fit in better back there. I mean, would Snake River Falls really fit well on the Dragster or Wicked Twister midways? Could you put Thunder Canyon next to Gemini in the parking lot? Â It just goes back to enthusiasts (on this site especially) finding any reason, no matter how trivial or silly, to complain about Cedar Point. The way people talk about it on here, you would think it was a cross between Six Flags America and a toxic waste dump.
RCFreak 0
^^No it doesn't, Thunder Canyon pulls it's water from Lake Erie, and Snake River Falls had it's own chlorinated water system. From the press releases of Shoot the Rapids, it will have it's own chlorinated system as well. Â Having them in the same area mostly just to keep them in the same place. That area of the park is the only place people are allowed to go shirtless too.
Reality15 0
Thunder Canyon has a pump that draws water from Lake Erie. Snake River Falls brings in water from Lake Erie at the start of the season, but uses that water throughout the system with its own pump and filtration system. I'd assume Shoot the Rapids will probably use water from the lagoons or Lake Erie, but use its own pumping system. Â It's done that way so that if one of the pumps fails, only one ride goes down instead of both. Or if you need to keep one ride "dry" for the day to do maintenance, you don't have to shut down both. Â EDIT: Hector beat me to it. Edited February 21, 2010 by Reality15
CPmaverick 0
I'm just glad I won't come off of Shoot The Rapids smelling like a fish
Skycoastin Steve 0
Well alright then. But either way, it's still a pretty inane thing to complain about.
stuartnz 0
Nothing is too inane to complain about in this business
odene497 0
I didn't realize how big this was! I thought that first hill that was up was the final one. I love the look of the supports.
hemmy 0
This doesn't really involve Rapids but i think that CP's next ride will most likely be a vekoma boomerang. Â Â Ehhh, I would put that chances of this at 0.
thrillrideseeker 0
So Cedar Point has put up some pretty pictures of STR. It looks like it is coming along quiet well... Enjoy. ~Matthew That is a lot larger than I thought it would be! Pretty! I must say... The colors are rather ugly! IMO.

thrillrideseeker 0
So Cedar Point has posted a few new photos of STR here... Mainly of the station work. Thought I would share them with you guys. Enjoy. ~Matthew Station work... Drive wheels much? More station work... Station footers... Prettyness?! Out and about on the island. More flumeage!
Skycoastin Steve 0
Looks like things are coming along nicely!
Airtime&Gravity 1
It looks like this ride will be a lot more thrilling than the family ride I was expecting. While still appealing to families, which is good for Cedar Point, the ride, especially the drops, look pretty thrilling. It'll be interesting to see the finished ride, but I'm already impressed.
