Sphantom91
Now can we talk about how Arrow used up stop plates on Magnum even though Moonsalt Scramble, which was taller and had inversions, has been running for 6 years in Japan? I believe I read somewhere they just adapted the mine train design. I'd love to talk to the engineer that thought it was a good idea though. MidwestThemeParks
I don't know how people can pick their favorite coaster at CP, I can barely pick my top five favorites because of how good they all are (except Corkscrew, of course )

DILinator
I too am in the category of liking Magnum, but not loving it. It's certainly nowhere near the top of my Hyper rankings, ans isn't even in the Top 5 coasters at CP for me. I certainly appreciate its place in history, and still remember seeing the commercials for it before the 1989 season, and literally having dreams where I was riding it for the first time (even though I didn't even really know the layout! lol). I've also had some fantastic rides on it. But I've had plenty of "Meh", or worse rides on it too. Some of my closest friends in the enthusiast community are absolutely head over heels for it, so we have some lively disagreements at times about it (especially since they dog my favorite coaster, MF!) It's still a great coaster though, regardless of just how much of an affinity one has for it!
PKI Jizzman
Magnum was broken down a full 2 of the 3 days I was there, and maybe open for an hour or two on the last day. The views are great, I love the sound of the lift, but the seat belt trick failed me as the heavy restraint was in my lap and ready to beat my ass on the return trip. I couldn't convince my friends to give it a second try. Honestly, I think it was the only 'big' coaster we only did once.
ripleybl
Man, there is a lot of complaining on these forums about roughness, head banging, etc of a roller coaster... Suck it up! Magnum is awesome as it was one of the coasters that paved the way! "Ouch... That hurt!" Boo hoo! Suck it up wussies! Did I mention I used to walk to school uphill, both ways! coasterkid21
Don't get me wrong I love Millennium and Dragster, but I think I put Magnum above both of them. Hell I might even put back seat of Gemini near them. Maybe I like it a little rough. Maverick is still #1 in the park though, but I think I can safely say that Magnum is my favorite coaster above 200 ft there.
storms555
Honestly its kind of hard to rank the top CP coasters when I think about it. Like if someone was to ask what is more fun? Mavrick or Top Thrill? It would honestly be hard for me to choose because to me they are both very fun in their own ways. TTD for its awesome intense speed and height. Yet Mavrick's first drop seems actually more intense then TTD's drop even though its like 300 ft shorter! Also of course Mavrick lasts longer and has cool intense transitions. So I think both are fun in different ways. Also M-Force has an EPIC first drop! That "oh-my-god im falling!!" feeling is so awesome. However Magnum to me seem to have better air time while its first drop wasnt as exciting. If I remember when on Magnum, for some odd reason, the second half of the first drop seemed to slow down. It was weird. But again the airtime through out rest of the coaster was awesome. However if someone was to ask me what my favorite coaster there is I would pick M-Force because of its height, speed, and of course that awesome first drop! But in all honesty I thought all the coasters there were fun. Even the oldies like Gemini and Corkscrew. Iron Dragon wasnt like OMG THIS IS SO EPIC!! but it was unique. So for the most part they were all fun in different ways. Of course tough I wouldnt go back to Cedar Point just to ride Iron Dragon or Corkscrew for example. ytterbiumanalyst
It is tough to rank, because they have so many good ones. The method I use is to ask myself this: Hypothetically, both of these two coasters are right in front of me, equal distances from where I stand. Both have no line, and the park is about to close. I can only ride one of them. Which one do I choose? That method produces this list for CP: 1. Millennium Force 2. Magnum XL-200 3. Maverick 4. Raptor 5. Top Thrill Dragster 6. Valravn 7. Gatekeeper "And the rest," Gilligan style. Beyond that point, I would pretty much pick at random, and I'd enjoy whatever I'd pick.
defrocker
That's the method I use when ranking coasters as well. Granted there are other factors involved such as when I last rode something so there is no "perfect ranking system." Sheesh this stuff starts sounding dorky fast... chickenbowl
I think Magnum is fantastic - I love those last airtime hills! It's impressive that any single park can have 5 coasters in my top 50 steel. Here's how'd I'd rank CP's collection: 1. Maverick (#2 steel overall) 2. Millennium Force (#16) 3. Top Thrill Dragster (#37) 4. Valravn (#41) 5. Magnum XL-200 (#42) 6. GateKeeper 7. Raptor 8. Blue Streak 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini ...Everything else

sfriday1998
Magnum is absolutely awesome, but I'm sorry everyone - its not even in the same conversation as Maverick. I'm not sure how to 'nina' in tapatalk, but this needs to be nina'ed so, so, hard. Seriously, let's all calm down. That cover it?
DoinItForTheFame
. . . I could see them going 200 feet here. Thoughts? I sure hope so. . . ------------------------------------------ Also, some really neat photos of the park in the snow: www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1770527#p1770527
thrillseeker4552
So if I'm looking at this correctly (and admittedly I may not be) they're adding to the height of that turn (significantly) and doing an outward bank which implies some impressive speed at the top. I may have to eat my words, I could see them going 200 feet here. Thoughts? It seems almost certain to me that they go 200 feet. If so, and correct me if I'm wrong, this can be marketed as the tallest, fastest, and longest hybrid coaster in the world. And due to the impressive size, I wonder if Cedar Point would opt for 7- or even 8-car trains from RMC to fit their capacity needs. I'm sure we'll see a MCBR if the ride ends up being 5000+ feet long.
Password121
With Cedar Point operations and three trains I'm sure even with six cars per train this won't have bad capacity. With 60 second dispatches (totally reasonable) that's over 1400/hour, assuming the ride is less than 3 minutes from station to station.

Valravn has 24 passengers per car, so it must be fine. I'm just fantasizing about the crazy whip you would get on the back of a 7- or 8- car train on an RMC! lol
cparkes92
My two predictions regarding RMC Streak's stats: 1. It will be faster than Lightning Rod 2. It will be longer (track length, not ride time) than Twisted Colussus
boldikus
I really hope CP just keeps denying that this thing is happening, even into the season when the park is open.
storms555
It looks and sounds like this ride is going to be epic! The idea of a super steep 200 ft tall drops on a wooden coaster sounds like it would be so much fun. Coasters been around for more then 100 years and I bet the people of those days could never imagine the mega coasters we have now! One thing I know about coasters back in the day is all though they werent nearly as tall steep or fast they did lack seat belts/lap bars. So that gave them a whole different type of thrill. Obviously the lack of belt or bar would be a bad idea for todays mega coasters.
boldikus
^ Well, technically this will be a steel coaster. #shotsfired

Steely Dan
There's like an extra 20 ft of structure added on top of this hill, this will be a HUGE element! I'd say at least 20 ft, perhaps even more, though it's always difficult to say for sure, what with perspective distortion and what not. It just hit me, there's a chance that this RMC'ed mean streak might be the best. roller coaster. ever. Keetz
ok, but why do we keep getting one picture at a time? Who is taking one picture and deciding it's sufficient? Please move the camera to show the lift hill work. I'm pretty sure the marketing campaign is one leaked photo a week.
chickenbowl
I wanted to use the trends of the 7 first RMC IBox conversions to predict track length of RMC Mean Streak. If the trends of a sample size of 7 can tell us anything, the new track length will be about 85% of the old. We should be looking at anywhere between 4500 ft to 4800 ft. Maybe bringing the lift to 200 ft+ can give it enough momentum to beat Twisted Colossus for the "World's Longest Hybrid" record? Notes on the calculation: - I only used track length of a single side of Twisted Twins because SC follows the layout of only one side and obviously doesn't have a second lift (like TC). - I made a second average calculation of just six IBox (omitting Twisted Colossus) because the strange mobius layout cut off a lot of original track. 58% is a low number partly because TC doesn't have two separate station/brakes/prelift sections like Colossus' 8650 ft track length has.
