P. 2017: Top Thrill Dragster RETIRED!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if it's a joke or the start of some kind of construction on Mean Streek, but they had spray painted numbers on the wood on the secttion right at the part of the ride where your about to pass under the lift Hill. You can only see it while riding.

The numbers were made with silver paint.

I hope vertical construction on Valravn starts soon, can't wait to see how massive the structure is going to look, I don't think the renderings do it justice.

They really don't until you look closely at Raptor next to Valravn. As I like explaining it to people, is to imagine Power Tower being above the Marina Gate. That's about where the top of the ride will be. Then imagine GateKeeper's first drop coming out towards the midway, as that is about the size of the Immelman turn.

I agree its the perfect setting for a Dive Coaster at CP. If I had to nitpick, I'd say there is a lot of wasted potential energy going into the brake Run. I feel like it could have been steeper and taller leading up to it. Then we wouldt need the brakes as much. Other than that I'm super excited. I bet contraction will go fast on this one.

Went to the park yesterday before ending home from KI, and it was great. Was expecting a somewhat large crowd, and there wasnt really one. Rode Gatekeeper, MF, and Top Thrill. Gatekeeper was a a walk on. Waited the longest for MF and TTD. It was a good few hours in the park.

Like ive mentioned in my past posts were bringing our 7 year old for the first time this weekend. Was wondering how the wait times have been on Saturday nights so far for halloweekends. We really don't have a problem waiting an hour or so for rides. Just curious if were going to run into some 2 hour waits like we have before on halloweekends. Our plan is to ride maverick, top thrill and milennium on Friday. And maybe squeezing another in on Saturday if its not 2 hour waits.

While I am NOT a fan of the overpriced nature of some of these fast pass systems, I would have to say that I hate long lines even more. Granted, I tend to try and use all the enthusiast gimmicks to my advantage by- using a mindful ride order strategy and picking days to attend that are usually less busy (small chances of rain in the forecast is also a huge crowd deterrent). Sometimes though, it gets exhausting and your trip can turn into a big rat race. That's where fast lane is a blessing. You can enjoy the day of riding at your leisure and not have to stress over everything else.

With all that said. I refuse to wait in long lines. Plain and simple, nothing over 45 min. Just not going to happen. If I show up to a park and the place is packed, I happily dish out the extra cash and move on with my day. The choice is simple really, either wait in line, or pay to not wait in line. Less waiting = more riding

Even with Fastlane you wait quite a bit for certain rides at Cedar Point due to the high demand (cough Maverick). It's worth it because the alternative is much worse but I think this price increase is probably necessary to keep wait times manageable for the people that buy it and prevent Maverick's Fastlane line from pushing an hour which would be extremely likely on October Saturdays.

Its a good idea if you have the money to dish out. But for a family its really rough.

This!

They are really starting to alienate families. Not only by removing several family attractions, but by making the park going experience too expensive.

I have a family of 5. So this would have cost us an additional $700 on top of the admission price.

To put it in prospective, we could have spent the day at Disney world(a park with free fast pass), paid for a hotel, and still walk away with more money in our pocket than a day at cedarpoint.

And they also have a separate fast lane pass for the haunted attractions as well that costs an additional $60 if you want. This is one I really don't understand. With the exception of corn stalkers, we were able to do all the haunted houses with a full or near full q line with a half hour wait at each. The only thing stopping the line for being less than 30 min was the fast lane groups.

I am not ripping the fast lane system in general, just the outrageous price they are asking.
