Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

p. 2030 - Top Thrill 2 announced!

^I actually remember hearing that they were in the process of testing all of the electrical stuff...

If you look at the Maverick Construction Diary, you'll see that they are testing all of the electrical components, but not from the main electrical area, due to not having the wiring done from the one in Perimeter Road (whatever that is).

I think we could actually expect testing within the next week or two.

Quote from the diary:

Right now representatives from the company that designed and manufactured Maverick, IntaRide, are on site making sure all the electrical and mechanical components of the roller coaster are working properly. They got here a couple of weeks ago, and it should take them another week and a half to finish up.

Plus, they probably wouldn't have the train sitting in the station if they weren't going to start soon!

It is very possible that they have started testing. Look at the webcam. The train is now gone.

However, I doubt that they have started full-circut testing yet.

Quote from the Construction Diary:

The next step once all that is completed is starting to move the train back and forth on the track. That’s always an exciting moment in the timeline of a ride like this. It means firing Maverick up for riders isn’t all that far away!

That means that they are probably starting the testing as in "moving the train forward and backward to make sure the LSM's work properly.

I hope that they start full soon circuit, if they haven't yet.

You never know. They may be turning them off for testing, but I hope they will have a video of it testing. I am really curious to see how fast it goes through the airtime hill after the zig zags. I also really want to see how fast it goes over the hill out of the launch, they say it will have airtime there, but with those trims you never know how fast it will be going. I hope the use the Gunmetal train in the video

Eric Writes:

Those pics are awsome, can't wait to see it in person on opening day. I was just wondering, seeings the train is in the station, when the actual testing is going to start. I don't know if you can say for sure, but if you could that would be super sweet!

From Tony & Tyler:

Eric, we're pretty sure testing will begin next month. We'll try to keep you informed!

I believe that the camera is on top of a lake marker/buoy. So if there are larger waves, it will move around a bit.

I don't think so. It's controllable, so it moves because someone's pointing it where they want it.

Even the Web site says where it is: "Located on the Sandusky Register's TV tower 165 feet high, this camera gives you panoramic views of the downtown Sandusky area."
