It would only make sense to add LSM if they can extended it somehow. As-is the GP wouldnt even notice the 20m investment that the overhaul of the launch system would cost. 
 

if they do add LSMs then they need to add a bowl section like accelerator. So that the GP will recognize it as “different”  or go nuts and create a Formula Rossa West 

I think the expansion of TTD is the most logical  route for CP since they will get a bunch of records  

regardless CP is never getting rid of TTD simply bc Kingda Ka exists.

You're absolutely right on the first point about the GP not noticing.  The only thing they could do to counter that is increase the launch speed to re-take the "fastest launch in the world" and then just add some trims at the near the top of the spike so the train doesn't crest too fast.  But that's not going to happen; it's getting a new queue and some walls around the brake run or its coming out.

Also, since when did Xcelerator's two additional turns count as a "bowl"?

And please explain your logic behind CP not removing Dragster because a taller and fast (albeit, worse) ride exists in a completely separate market?

Dragster is a crowd pleaser as it is now. They're either going to keep it the way it is and needlessly redesign the queue, or get rid of it and put something in its place.

As people have said time and time again, the launch did not cause this issue. It could have been replaced years ago if Cedar Point wanted to do it. This incident was a freak accident. It could just as easily happen on any roller coaster near any path. Heavy high velocity objects with multiple moving and bolted on parts can shed lethal objects at any given time.

Cork Screw's loop over the midway.

Mavericks sweeping turn over the pond.

Millennium Force's passes near the queue and over the pathway tunnel.

Gatekeeper over the main entrance.

Raptor's cobra roll aimed at the pathway.

The freaking sky ride...

 

37 deaths and 113 injuries have been documented from vending machines since 1979. This is a terrible accident, but it doesn't need to change the way the world works. I can promise you the lake has the potential to be far more dangerous than any of the roller coasters at Cedar Point.

Pay out. Put reasonable measures in place (fences/nets), and move on.

Vending machines kill on average of 4 people and injure upwards of 1,700 per year in the US. Weird factoid I learned from an NEISS article years ago but your point is valid though.

I understand the need or desire to the move the queue because of this incident. No simple netting is going to stop a jagged piece of metal hurling at near 100mph, and even fencing / walls (unless concrete) wouldn't really do much except for create a larger shrapnel path if that metal were to fly directly into it.

That being said, this has happened once in it's nearly 20 seasons of operation and it's occurrence shouldn't be an average, but one time incident that is solved and eliminated as a possibility to reoccur.

I guess from a PR perspective moving the queue would be solving the potential problem from both the insurance and GP point of view, but I do think it's overkill and brings up the question "do they anticipate this happening again?"

While they are at it, why not raise it up 36 feet to at least match kingda in height :)

It looks like a couple of the Cedar Fair parks have new passes.  The two bring a friend free tickets might make it worth it.  I don't know it I want to wait in line for one line skipping pass.

I'm kind of disappointed,,

Just read the tweets from Tony and CP about the announcement of an announcement of an announcement, followed by a kind-of-farewell-looking Magnum video. So I made a kettle of pop corn and got ready for the hype here and - NOTHING?

I'm in the mix between being worried and proud of you all! :D

Perhaps there are no posts about it here because no one is dumb enough to assume those two tweets have anything to do with Magnum being removed.

Welp, there is another coaster. "Wild Mouse" (appears to be a classic twist version of a Mack Spinner?) and moved flats:
 


Also nods to the "18th roller coaster" with Pipe Scream being considered a coaster and assuming that TTD isn't going anywhere.

Wild Mouse Roller Coaster

Cedar Point’s legacy of roller coaster thrills continues with the addition of the Wild Mouse roller coaster. A nod to the park’s original Wild Mouse coaster, the modern version will provide a ride experience the original couldn’t – its cars will spin 360 degrees as they navigate the ride’s 1,312 feet of bright orange track.

The spins, dips, drops and hairpin turns of Wild Mouse will thrill coaster lovers young and young-at-heart. Standing 52 feet tall, the Wild Mouse ride experience is an unpredictable game of “cat and mouse,” complete with six mouse-themed cars and one cheese-themed car. The coaster’s free-form spinning action changes with the number of riders aboard each car, providing one-of-a-kind experiences with no two rides being exactly the same.

Riders must be at least 42” tall to ride with a supervising companion, or 48” tall to ride alone. Wild Mouse is manufactured by Zamperla® and joins Cedar Point’s unmatched ride collection as the 18th roller coaster at America’s Roller Coast®.

Cedar Point’s Grand Pavilion

The area looks fine. Good way to reuse existing attractions to buttress a new one.

Beyond that very surface level analysis? Well, to date it is net +1 ride though I noticed that the Himalaya wasn't part of the mix there. Gotta wonder if its gonna be an orphan still in its location or will be hitting the scrap pile. Dragster there's no updates about but we weren't expecting that necessarily. Bath House Pavilion thingie is, uhhh, I mean, it's definitely a thing that will require more staff, which, hey, good luck guys. Might want to plan in advance on the bartenders to be paid more than park minimum wage if you want someone who can competently mix a drink. Biggest thing to me is that, well, the Himalaya could have played the exact same role as the Wild Mouse in this area. They didn't do that, which is fine and leads to us getting a new coaster, but doesn't do much as far as the biggest needs the park has. It seems wild to suggest this is a "hot take," but a coaster that will probably have a height restriction of 42 inches w/an adult is not the thing that the park needs most. Cedar Point needs a ride - ANY RIDE - that can consistently operate in wet conditions or in wind, preferably indoors. They have very, very little in that vein, and obviously they have no indoor rides of any kind.
