Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

p. 2030 - Top Thrill 2 announced!

Recommended Posts

Quick, someone bring up the fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo situation!

Since Elissa brought up the suggestion, that we get back to those l-o-c-k e-r-s....

I have questions about them. I know there are all day l-o-c-k e-r-s at the front gate.

And I have the list of coasters that have their own "limited time" storage bins in front.

Questions: If you use one of the bins at a coaster for say, 4 hours, can you take stuff out,

and/or put stuff back into them? Or once you open it again, is that it for using them?

And are there still any coasters with storage bins on the exit side of the train on the platform?

I remember finding this out at Goliath in SFMM, after I put $ into a bin at the entrance gate.

Then I went through that long long queue, and then found out I could of put my stuff on the

exit side, in a bin.

Any kind of a list would be great, thanks. (Planning in advance for CoasterMania! and CP in June)

hehe. . "June". . it's ONE WEEK!

(I know. .it's coming fast!)

from what I understood, the Hotel is a short walk from park, so didn't even think we'd have to mess with L**kers. . . figured we could just run by the room if we needed anything.

no?

if we need to get some, we can share, so no biggie either way!

I think you're confusing park policies, as someone started bringing up Great Adventure's new policies and what happened to them at Great Adventure, not Cedar Point.

At Cedar Point, if you have a zippered / cargo pockets, you are fine. You won't be interrogated.

Thanks! The danger of checking on phone, usually hurried, dont always see the details.

Are some of those lockers new-ish? Granted my only visit was when Windseeker was brand new but I only clearly remember having to grab a locker for TTD, not sure about MF, most of the rides we got on the 2 days I was there were literally at cut-off time, both times we planned on ending the day with Maverick and when we realized using that single rider line on Maverick to cut 5-10 minutes might gives us the time to make it over and we sprinted so much I don't remember grabbing one (although maybe we were lucky with the people but both nights they let us in and plenty after even 5-10 mins after cut-off). I had my camera bag and remember taking pictures in line for Mantis and Magnum though.

Whoa whoa whoa... patdown? That's the first I've heard of that. I have heard plenty of locals complaining of them practically interrogating people but patdowns? WTF.

I had made it past the entrance and the security card was yelling at me "SIR. STOP. WHAT IS IN YOUR POCKET?" I assumed he was talking about my not secured zipper pocket. Because I'm not use to zipper pockets being an issue. So I said "Nothing." He then had me stand to the side, and had another security officer come over, who gave me a weird patdown, and found the items in my pocket. They asked me what it was, I said my phone and car key. They removed them from my pocket, and one of them escorted me to the lock.er where he waited till I purchased a lock.er, and put my items in the lock.er, and then I was allowed to return to the line. Seriously one of the most annoying things I've ever dealt with at a park.

On a side note... The patdown made me feel like a criminal!!! Good things wasn't a hottie, or things could have gotten really awkward really fast.

It's a good thing Six Flags security is a total joke and that they'd never be able to uphold this kind of security consistently. Sounds like you just found yourself a very "power trippy" security guard, and I've run into those types. These are the guys who never got laid or had friends in high school, and now they want to take it out on anyone that resembles someone from those times. This may not be popular, but IMO the best thing to do is take away their power by refusal, passive aggressiveness.

So you know what I would have done in this situation? As soon as they pulled me to the side and even started to pat me down I would have said "You know what? Nevermind, I changed my mind I'm not going to ride" and walked away. Can't pat me down then. Then I'd come back in an hour to ride and they probably wouldn't be there and you could get in line without the hassle. Same thing I do when they say I can't "wait" for a certain row to ride a coaster. Oh, really? This ride has a 15 minute wait and I can't just "stand" here as long as I want? Refusing to get on the ride? You're going to MAKE ME get on the coaster? Really? I don't think so.

Oddly enough this seems to be a Six Flags thing while Cedar Fair, Busch and Disney has never had an issue with me asking politely to sit where I want.

Also, lock3rs should absolutely be free for 1 hour and located near the ride station. After 1 hour start charging to get your stuff out. That way the parks don't have to pay some dumb ass rent a cop and free incentivizes people to get loose articles out of their pockets so it's win-win for everyone.

Wow. It says it on their website, so it must be true! An Aquatrax is coming to Cedar point. Interesting they also call it desert trax. Well, I guess the weather at Cedar Point is so interchangeable, they need a ride to match it

Also, does anyone else think Intamins new website is awesome?

Briefly back on the topic of CP and weather, I made the last minute decision, based on weather, to delay my trip to CP today until tomorrow, as showers and 80% chance of precipitation didn't seem like a great chance to take, for making the three hour trip down. The forecast for today changed a number of times over the past week though, which just goes to show the point we've been making about The Point... It's such a crap-shoot when it comes to weather, you've just got to be as flexible as possible, and be ready for rain, regardless. It won't shock me if we go tomorrow, and in spite of the better forecast, still have to contend with some poor weather. Such is CP in the Springtime. But at the least the crowds typically aren't so bad! (Though I'm not crazy about going the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, honestly...) If anybody is there today, let me know how it ended up being.

We've been there the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and the Friday of Labor Day weekend multiple times since we always plan our visits around holiday weekends and we've never found them to be overly crowded.

The weather for tomorrow looks great, have fun!

PS: We should be popping in at some point this weekend too but we have no specific plan as to when we'll get there.

^Awesome! Good to hear it's not too bad the Friday before a Holiday weekend, since I've tended to avoid them previously! Another added bonus of bumping it back a day: Brew and BBQ! (Though I'll be with my 8 year old, so I need to take that into consideration.) If you end up being there at all tomorrow, like later in the day, PM me, and maybe we can say hi and ride a coaster, or something!

We won't be there until later in the weekend unfortunately, we'll most likely show up at some point Sunday afternoon or evening and then be back the next day through midday when we have to head home.

As of now our plan is to go to Kings Island tomorrow, then go to Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday and head to Holiday World after that. They're calling for on and off storms Saturday and Sunday so we have no clue how long we'll spend at each park. If we got to ride everything at Holiday World on Saturday we'll probably head towards Sandusky after the park closes, finish driving in the morning and be there most of the day. If not, we'll head back to Holiday World Sunday morning and leave a few hours later.

I'm also toying with the idea of stopping at Coney Island on Sunday since the quickest route is backtracking to Cincinnati and then taking I-75 anyway. The coaster looks mediocre but they have a Rock O Plane and a Flipping Action Arm and both of those make it a lot more tempting.

Ahhh, got it! I take it you haven't been to KK yet? If not, enjoy it! Great little park, and Storm Chaser is truly AWESOME!!! I like Lightning Rod better, but not a lot better. SC was great! Hopefully the weather holds out for you to get some good rides in! Have you been to Holiday World before? The Voyage is a transformative experience!

I'm actually finally making it to Kings Island myself on Tuesday, after having to delay my planned trip with all the older kids from April due to (what else) weather. I've still managed to avoid all Shed spoilers! Can't wait to just ride Mystic Timbers though, as I've heard it's really a great coaster! Enjoy your trip there! I will look forward to getting caught up on the KI thread after Tuesday!

And in order to not get too far off topic, enjoy your time at CP as well!

We've never been to Kentucky Kingdom or Holiday World so we're looking forward to it. We were at Kings Island a few years ago but obviously Mystic Timbers is new for us.

There's absolutely nothing new for us at Cedar Point obviously but we couldn't resist popping in for a few rides. We figure at minimum we'll be happy with a ride on Millennium Force, Gatekeeper and Maverick and anything else is gravy.

Again, apologies to the CP thread, but dang, you're in for a treat going to Holiday World, and KK! The Voyage and Storm Chaser are Top 6 coasters for me, and many people swear by Lightning Run as well! (I like it, though I'm lower on it than a lot of enthusiasts.) If your wife really likes GateKeeper, she'll probably be a big fan of Thunderbird (I really like it, though not as much as GateKeeper, in a unpopular opinion)! And of course The Raven And Legend are, well, legendary! So, have a great time! I look forward to hearing about your experience! Particularly your opinion of The Voyage. It's a very divisive coaster, with many loving it, but some people hating it, and thinking it's terribly rough. At least you're going earlier in the season. Again, enjoy!

Getting back on topic... I can't wait to see RMC Streak in person tomorrow for the first time! I've read that the pictures don't do it justice, and seeing it in person, it is simply massive in size and scope! I'm SO excited! I've already told my family I'll be living at CP next year, so they're prepared!

I'm actually planning on visiting HW for the first time this weekend too, your acclaim of it makes me more excited!

Also, I don't think there are any shed spoilers, but when you finally get to ride it, pop on over to the KI thread and look at my Coasterstock report. I have a picture of the mythical tall thing from the Haunt maze Blackout that you didn't see (and didn't believe me). Now there's proof

Coasterstock last weekend made me even more excited for CoasterMania! I've never been to that event before either, but any ERT at CP sounds awesome, as well as the cruise and whatever else I forgot. While spending two days at CP would be pretty sweet, I'm a bit relieved it's only one day. Two days of Coasterstock with <5 hours sleep +16 hours on our feet at the park was killer. I definitely need to get new shoes for this summer and get used to standing and walking for long periods of time again. Still haven't booked our hotels either. While staying at Breakers sounds really nice, I can't afford it at this stage in my life. A quick search says it's at $300 a night for the weekend and we need at least two nights.

Also really hope they do some kind of surprise New Mean Streak tour or photo op or something for us, but besides the cruise and whatever we would usually be able to see, it seems doubtful and I'm not holding my breath.

Fun game: place bets on how long into the event you can go before someone starts talking about Mean Streak. Bonus if it's during Q&A.

At least there will be something new for you too SEE. Cannot argue with the rest of your logic if your close and passing by, an MF or Maverick ride never disappoint. But you don't have to lie to us.........we know your going for the Sky Ride.

I'm calling Photoshop. "Comming" is spelled wrong, and their website just shows "Aqua Trax / Desert Trax" underneath the ride title. Add in the fact that the spacing is off, and that they almost never refer to specific parks in their ride descriptions, I'm highly suspicious.
