Mr.Peabody
I'm heading to Halloweekends this Friday. I rode Mantis the year it opened and will ride it the last year it operated under that name/configuration. I'm interested to see what they finally end up doing with it. Diamondbacker27
Their past 3 coasters have been Intamin, the first being Millennium Force. So that means the past 6 years, nothing but Intamin. Throwback to Maverick speculation.

Mantis isn't open on Halloweekends Fridays. As for the tweet re: tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised to hear the last two weeks of the season it goes from being Mantis to King James then something else next year. Sharman19
I'm going on Apple Festival weekend (a yearly festival for Kendallville, IN) and I am gonna' try to get my final laps in. Hopefully there won't be such a huge crowd for Mantis. If the park is crowded, then I'm getting Fast Lane. So speaking of Fast Lane, what waiting times can you tolerate? Bedholm
Lines on 9/13/14 didn't seem too long. The line for Mantis was longest and most boring wait of all the rides. The wait for Mantis was near 90 min. while the rest were about an hour or less. Only reason to ride it is to say you've been on it. Comparing it to Riddler's Revenge and Green Lantern(SFGadv) it sucks so much head banging. I personally am a big fan of standups but Mantis sucked comares to the others I've been on. Invertalon
Anyone visit over the weekend? How were crowds/waits for coasters on Saturday and/or Sunday? Sunday was completely dead... Walk-on everything as far as I saw including Dragster, Maverick and MF. The houses had no waits, either. Weather was perfect. Amazing day.
Coasterguy21
^^Pretty sure they never stated what they were doing with the name, just that the name would be coming to the park. Bryan Edwards was quoted as saying in the newspaper that it could be naming a new coaster, temporarily re-naming an existing coaster or permanently re-naming an existing coaster. That was the last time anything was said about it so pretty much all options are still on the table.
ajfelice
Sundays are always a good bet when it comes to HalloWeekends with the exception of Columbus Day Weekend. However, that Sunday still isn't that bad. I did notice last year that Sundays, while slow, did get busier as HalloWeekends progressed. Take advantage of September Sundays while you still can for the least amount of waiting. While Cedar Point may get pretty busy on Saturdays, always remember that Haunts seem to put a dent into wait times and cooler temperatures will drive people out of the park a little faster than normal, so lines will shorten up quite a bit in the evening. Unless you are going for the Haunts, HalloWeekends can still be manageable for some good coaster riding.

Sharman19
Ah! The 2000th page of this thread! I'm pretty sure you will all agree with my mini list. For this and next year. Best Cedar Point B&Ms 2014 1. Raptor 2. GateKeeper 3. Mantis Best Cedar Point B&Ms 2015 1. Unknown Floorless Coaster. 2. Raptor 3. GateKeeper The 2015 list is official IF Mantis gets flooless trains and a retheme!
coasterbill
Ah! The 2000th page of this thread! I'm pretty sure you will all agree with my mini list. I don't know about that. I think Mantis with floorless trains would be a lot of fun but I'm sure Raptor would still be lightyears ahead of it. Personally I love Gatekeeper despite the amazing amount of hate that it gets so I have a hard time believing Floorless Mantis would be better than that either though many people would probably disagree with me on that. tarheel1231
I've never been on a floorless coaster, so I don't know if I can judge, but it seems like an invert would be better than a floorless. 1. Raptor 2. Laser Snake Horse on Fire 3. Gatekeeper.

I would take take Mantis in its current state over gatekeeper! Thats just me. GK is super smooth and a very pretty ride. Just doesn't do it for me. Raptor hands down is the best B&M at CP
djboss302
I've been on Sheikra, which apparently a similar experience, but whateves. Raptor would definitely be better though, and I haven't been on GateKeeper so I can't say much for that, but it seems floorless Mantis would be in the middle. At the end of the day, it's only a matter of opinion, so it's what you think of the ride, not what others think.
Sharman19
if I upset any of you, that's okay. This is just my opinion.
MagnumFreak25
Mantis would definitely be number two, Gatekeepers fun and has one of the best drops of any coaster I've ever ridden but it doesn't come anywhere close to an old school B&M like Raptor. rcjp
Raptor would definitely be better though, and I haven't been on GateKeeper so I can't say much for that, but it seems floorless Mantis would be in the middle. Having ridden all three, I would say that, in terms of intensity, Mantis is in the middle.

B&M Invert's is the company's strongest design IMO.
thepoint4life23
Do we have any real work going on around or on mantis. Trying to see if anyone has any picture of real fact of land clearing or power washing the ride.

traincrossin
I went to the Hexed preview event at Cedar Point on Friday for the first night of HalloWeekends. Armed with my new DSLR, I tried my best at taking some creepy pictures of all the screamsters. The new maze this year was Hexed which is next to GateKeeper, a bewitching adventure through the witch's lair. I was sort of underwhelmed by this one to be honest. Visually it was great and there were some cool illusions, but it had no finale or real wow factor. The other new thing at HalloWeekends is the Tombstone Terror-Tory scare zone near Maverick. Pretty fun to walk through and see others getting scared. So here's a little taste of HalloWeekends this year. HalloWeekends at Cedar Point can only mean one thing, pumpkins everywhere! Cool lanyard they gave out The schedule for the night, a lot of enthusiasts showed up to the event Hexed is the newest maze at Cedar Point, you can get a nice view of GateKeeper since it's built in the backstage area If there's a gap somewhere, you bet it'll be filled by a pumpkin So long Mantis! Some people liked you, but I couldn't stand it Lines weren't bad at all, the longest line of the day was for the free food at Midway Market Spooky theming everywhere Gargoyles outside of Hexed Screamsters doing their best to scare people in Screamworks There were some cool sliders in Screamworks The new Tombstone Terror-Tory Oooooooh, ghost horse!! Sheriff stalking some people Nothing says pirates like a mermaid eating human flesh My favorite scare from that night was when a pirate jumped out and yelled "Sharknado!" Lots of pirates in Cut Throat Cove CarnEvil has taken over Camp Snoopy Wish there were more chainsaw guys chasing down screaming people Cutting up pigs in Blood on the Bayou Witch Doctor dancing in the light And that's a preview of HalloWeekends this year! Still #1 in the world GateKeeper showing off
