thepoint4life23
What is funny to me is that people keep calling Stand up coaster a gimmick, but i think a floorless car is also a gimmick. So why do you want one gimmick over the other.
Mater
Because one position is awful and one is re-ridable?
whatabeast
The bad connotation that comes with the word gimmick is what makes a floorless roller coaster not a gimmick. It's the same thing as a sit down coaster, why does it matter if there's a floor or not? Is an inverted roller coaster a gimmick too, then? Fooz
A train where passengers exit from the same station from which they entered, eschewing comfort for the sake of gyration? That is a gimmick that adds nothing to the utility of passenger trains!
prozach626
The "lemon chill" guy gave me an interesting conversation yesterday. Wicked twister will be changed to "the king" with cavalier colors. Meanstreak will be "silverstreak" in 2016. And finally mantis will have a green spine with red pillars and be known as "mantis inferno" featuring a redone second half of ride and the new sitdown trains will travel 10mph faster than the old mantis. The Elephant Ear guy says you're full of sh*t!
FaithPlus1
I happened to be traveling on 23 north yesterday and saw a semi with something under the tarps. I could see much but it did have the B&M looking wheels sticking out. Now it coulda been some kind of machinery but the wheels did resemble a coasters wheels. It was heading north, however if it was coming from the B&M plant I imagine it would be coming up 71 or 75 north and not taking high street up through downtown Columbus. coasterkyle
B&M trains are shipped out from overseas likely in a shipping container. The plant only manufactures the track and supports.
Rollertoaster
Because one position is awful and one is re-ridable? Exactly! Also, given that the world's first stand-up coaster was converted from sit-down trains, it would be kind of poetic if Mantis was converted to sit-down trains. MagnumFreak25
That's strange, wouldn't have guessed. Also I had a thought, if they sorta did what happened with Powder keg they could put in a JOJO roll, launch into a cobra and add an extra corkscrew to the end and bring up the total inversions too

cal1br3tto
I haven't ridden Mantis since 2011 (and I was last there last year). No loss. And yes, I did enjoy it, but it didn't really, well, stand out among the other stand-ups out there.
Diamondbacker27
Don't you guys know it's going to be Lebron James the ride, with Tee's that say I rode Lebron. I think your confusing Cedar Fair with Six Flags.

thewesker
I do think the more days that go by without CP telling us what's going on with Mantis, the chances are of it being totally dismantled.
coasterfreak101
^Six Flags has marketed every one of its to-be-RMC'ed rides as 'closing' only announce weeks later that they're coming back as a hybrid. No reason for Cedar Point to handle Mantis 'closing' any differently (unless it is actually closing, of course).

Barge84
I'm pretty sure they didn't walk into a meeting this morning and decide to change their 5 year plan. They're just trying to get people excited about the announcement next month.

I'm sure they didn't change anything (as you said) maybe this is a hint at Mantis staying.
RCjunkie
^ Who said Mantis was leaving? They just said, 'Last Stand'. They didn't say, "Last Sit." or "Last Ride".
