P. 28: Tidal Surge Screamin' Swing coming for 2022!

Recommended Posts

What they need is an area like what Knott's is currently putting in.

a scrambler, a flyer, and a wild mouse (over water features) would be HUGE hits at Sea World.

Families would love them, and has been said, there is a ton of space at SW in San Antonio for expansion. An area like this could easily be installed and break up the long treks between current exhibits

Heading to South Padre to visit my MIL for Thanksgiving this year and were thinking about maybe taking the kids to SeaWorld San Antonio on the way through. It's been years since I've been. Can we get the whole park done in a day and any idea how the crowds will be during the holiday? Any tips on touring and avoiding long lines? Older DD and I will be riding coasters. DH would ride too but is there a rider swap available for those with young children? TIA!

You can easily get through the park in a day. It might be crowded around Thanksgiving, but I've never been during that time. I know that Thanksgiving at Fiesta Texas isn't very crowded. The coasters rarely have waits. I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes to ride them. Steel Eel is a walk on 75% of the time. The animal attractions are what usually get crowded, but it really isn't so bad. I'm not sure about the rider swap thing, I would just call and ask them.

I don't go to Sea World for their rides. It's not a thrill park, and never will be. Yes they do have 2 nice trill coasters, but that is it. I go for all the amazing shows and exhibits. Honestly I would plan to spend a full day in order to experience the park fully. I mean there are lots of shows and tons of exhibits.

^Thanks! We definitely plan on a full day. Just wasn't sure if we needed a day two in order to get everything in. I noticed they had a buy a day get a day ticket but time could be an issue for us with a child in school. The girls will be thrilled with the animals and shows but the thrill rides are an added bonus for the oldest. Though if the little coaster is still there, the youngest will be equally as excited!

With its new Antarctica-themed land open, SeaWorld is turning its attention to 2014.

SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. said Tuesday it will launch a 50th anniversary celebration early next year that will include new attractions and experiences for its three SeaWorld marine parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio.

The 18-month campaign, dubbed "Sea of Surprises," will launch March 21, 2014 — 50 years after the original SeaWorld opened its gates in California.

As part of the campaign, SeaWorld said it will dispatch more "animal ambassadors" throughout the parks to give visitors surprise encounters with penguins, lemurs, flamingos and more. New "Surprise Squads" will roam around to give away prizes such as free souvenirs or behind-the-scenes experiences. And "spontaneous entertainment" will pop up at unexpected moments along park pathways.

In addition, each of the three SeaWorld parks will get new animal shows, though the company didn't disclose additional details.

The company also said it has commissioned the environmental-art group "Washed Ashore" to carve larger sea-life sculptures from ocean debris. Those sculptures will be displayed in the parks.

Further attractions may also be part of the plans. The company said SeaWorld Orlando, which just completed the largest expansion in its history with Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, will unveil additional plans for 2014 this coming fall.

One already announced project: Explorer's Reef, at SeaWorld San Diego. A renovation of the 50-year-old marine park's main entrance, that 3-acre area will include a series of marine-life touch pools, as well as new retail and dining concepts. It will also feature what SeaWorld called a new front-gate concept, with existing ticket booths replaced by a concierge-style ticketing area with a beach theme.

That 16-month construction project has been timed to open next March, to coincide with the launch of the 50th anniversary campaign.

I just got back from Howl-O-Scream. My first thoughts before going were how would a theme park known for family fun bring the scare. After going, I have to say I was very impressed. Though there are only 4 houses and 3 scare zones, I thought for $25, it was a good deal. All the houses were long and the quality seemed to be there. Also, we paid for the quick queue for the houses which was definitely worth it. Here are a few pictures I took.

I love to see this event grow each year like the other HOS events.

Now Laura did not like the event as much as me but perhaps because I spoiled her last year when we went to HOS in Tampa.

Just 15 for quick queue and so worth it. More time to drink.

G'day mates,

I'm going to Seaworld San Antonio on opening day tomorrow 1 February. It is predicted to be an overcast and drizzly day so perhaps I might break my record of 70 rides in a row on The Great White and 29 times in a row on The Steel Eel. I'll get a Quick Queue (flash pass) if it gets too crowded. On Sunday I'll share my trip report.

Cheers!

G'day mates,

Saturday 1 February was an awesome day at Seaworld San Antonio! I didn't break any records but I did ride the Steel Eel 15 times. I rode a few other rides too. It was sunny and a very pleasant 27 c. Getting into the park was very fast, about 7 minutes, much less time than at Six Flags.

I'm going back on this Sunday 9 February.

Cheers!

G'day mates,

I went to Sea World yesterday 9 February and it was totally awesome! I rode the Steel Eel 30 times which is my new record. Also twice in front on the Great White. Rode 38 times on various rides including the Steel Eel. I didn't even use a Quick Queue as it was a very small crowd. Going back on Presidents' Day. Total rides in 2 visits this month is 57.

Cheers!

G'day mates,

I went to SeaWorld this past Sunday 16 February and it was an awesome day! Got chilled out twice on Journey To Atlantis, as I tried the front row right seat and then the left seat in the last row. Tied my Steel Eel record from the previous Sunday of 30 times in a row. Altogether I rode 42 rides. So far this month I have been on the Steel Eel 75 times in 3 visits. Going back this Saturday 22 February. The park is very well run and entering the park takes less than 5 minutes. I haven't needed to buy a flash pass (quick queue) yet this month as all the rides are available to ride as much as you want. The only rule is that you can ride twice and then you have to get in line again, which just means I get on the very next train.

Cheers!

G'day mates,

Went to SeaWorld yesterday 22 February and had another awesome day! Rode the Steel Eel 28 times and rode the Great White 5 times consecutively in the front row! The Great White is just like Batman The Ride at many Six Flags parks. It was probably the largest crowd I have seen in these last 4 visits but still lots of riding time. Haven't needed to get a Quick Queue yet, but I'm sure that will change with Spring Break.

Cheers!

^^The kid should sue the parents after they told her they wouldn't show the video to anybody. And the kid did disregard instructions. People are told not the lift the food tray that high. At least that's what ABC News reported in 2012.

^Yes, Adam the video was originally released in December 2012.

If you read the clearly posted directions, there wont be any problems. That picture made her hand look awfully close to the water, and if I remember correctly, its not supposed to be. Sea World has clearly posted rules and regulations for it's dolphin feeding and every time I go and feed the dolphins it is quite the fun, safe, and incredible experience. All the dolphin wanted was the fish. It's a dolphin, they are intelligent animals but they're not going to stop and ask you for the fish. That's why your supposed to use the dangle technique and they come right up to you and you place it in the dolphin's mouth. My family LOVES SeaWorld and we feed the dolphins every time we go. We typically go with some family friends and their kids, aged maybe 2 and 5, fed them the last time we went. Never had a problem.

I also find it a tad interesting how they took a picture at the exact moment she was bitten, but it's easily explainable because every parent there has there cameras ready to snap a quick shot of their kid feeding a dolphin. But my instinct personally would not be to take a picture but to get my child's hands out of that dolphin. Not, "Ooooh hold that shot honey! 1! 2! 3!"

Spring Break Trip Report:

G'day mates,

I visited SeaWorld for the fifth time this year on Monday 10 March and it was another awesome day in the park!

Rode the Great White 17 times including 13 times in the front row. I enjoyed the last row too but the view from the front is more impressive. I also rode the Steel Eel 3 times.

It was the busiest day this season but I did not need the Quick Queue pass yet. In my 5 visits since January so far I've averaged over 30 rides a day without the Quick Queue pass along with at least one animal act or exhibit each day too. My favorites are Alligator Alley, the Shark Aquarium and the Coral Reef.

I'm going to College Spring Break at SeaWorld next week so I may need a Quick Queue pass for that visit.

Cheers!
