Sleep Help...

I've got a case of insomnia myself, but I've had it since I was very young and some nights (like tonight) are worse than others and I've just ended up "living with it". I don't take drugs, caffeine, alcohol, etc. Tried TV, music, reading, waking up with an alarm clock, getting up once in a while, etc. Sometimes they work, other times they don't. Maybe I have DSPS

Each night, go to bed three hours later than you normally do. Do this each day until a suitable time to go to sleep is reached. Also when you get back to school you need about 9 hours, so I find that 9:30pm is a good time to go to sleep. I hope this helps!

Exercise! I had a lot of trouble sleeping a few years ago, so I started swimming again. Swim a mile three mornings a week, and you should have no problems. I also go for up-to 30 mile bike-rides several times a month when the weather is nice.

Use your bed for sleeping and nothing else. Sit on the couch to watch TV, or a comfortable chair to read .. rather than your bed. Train your body that bed == sleep.

Don't eat a huge meal, and/or do lots of physical activity in the evenings. Start winding your body down at least 2 hours before bed (you'll be able to decrease this time once you start getting a better schedule).

Don't depend on drugs .. instead use them occasionally (few times a year) when you're trying to sleep before a big day (ie: night before a job interview, new school year, big trip, etc). You can become dependent upon even over-the-counter drugs.

If none of those help, and if you're really worried about it, then go see your doctor. That's what he's for!

Cameron.
