verticalzero
When the Park has special days like Beastbuzz, i'm sure they allow the "Beast" to become trim-less for the original ride experience to return. The worst waste of track on the ride is the brake run, why does it have to be so long when a couple of hills can take it's place. Most people who ride the beast don't care if it is braked or not, it's just us small percentace who want it un-tamed.. Braked or non-braked the "Beast" is an amazing woodie and we have to thank Kings Island for building such a monster ride.
dragsterfan420
Last year at Coaster Con I dont think they were running all the trims. Just the main brake run in the middle.
Astat
From my experience (bear in mind this was SOB pre-loop removal), yes they're both pretty boring rides. However, my worst ride on Beast was FAR more brutal than any of my rides on SOB. It was actually the most painful experience I've ever had on a roller coaster. I came off feeling like I'd cracked a bunch of ribs and had my skull dislocated from my spine. However, I also had a very smooth ride on Beast that same day. Needless to say, I'm guessing Beast is a lot more weather-sensitive, presumably due to age. Good Beast ride > any SOB ride > bad Beast ride, IMO. I'd like to get back down to KI sometime soon to see how SOB runs in its current form, then I could formulate a better opinion.
Erik Johnson
I loved the Beast and hated Son of Beast. Make sure you ride in a non-wheel seat for the Beast. It makes your ride much more enjoyable.
mlambert21
Very easy one for me. Beast all the way. Especially with the old brakes, in the rain. And getting to ride with Montel Williams.
PKI Jizzman
SoB - Well, last night I had an interesting ride. It was right before close in the front seat. It felt like it was rougher at the bottom of the drop and in the first helix. BUT! The MCBR was completely off! Usually it slows you down to about 15-20mph...we just FLEW through there! And there was actually airtime! I was shocked. I doubt I'll have this ride for a long time, but it was actually good! I like a front seat ride on SoB...just the hight and sheer speed of the ride is really fun. Beast - I haven't had a back seat ride in soooo long. Why? I got completely beaten up by it last time. I mean, I had trouble breathing! Yeah, it's a fun ride....at NIGHT. But any way I look at it it's just brakes, straight away, turn...repeat. Blah. Go ride Kentucky Rumbler! FeelTheFORCE
On Tuesday, I had the worst ride on Beast I have ever had. Son of Beast, however, is running great!
VivaLaVibora
Beast - I think this ride was horrible. My stomach just hurt so bad on this ride. Son of Beast - It didn't give zippo airtime, but it didn't hurt. It was very painless compared to the Beast. I don't like neither of them. Racer is good, not great because it's too hard with that bad lapbar to get a lot of airtime. Racer needs new trains like the other PTC's (Like Blue Streak or Screamin' Eagle). alpengeist04
IMO, Beast- Overrated, some people are still living in the past. SOB- Waste of space, time, and money.
coastermaniac
I think Son of Beast is way better than The Beast. Don't get me wrong, The Beast is still an okay coaster, it's just the ride is too rough and it bangs your head around too much. Son of Beast is much smoother and has a better first hill. But I wish I could of ridden it with the loop.

I have ridden' the Kentucky Rumbler. I enjoyed it a great deal. I'd say its number 3 on my personal type five wood. I'll just always love the Beast. I'm also glad to hear that many people like the new revamped SoB. I've only ridden it twice. Both experiences were pretty bad. The first time was in 2001 when I was 11 and it rattled me to death. And the second time was 2 days before that major accident occurred that made then change it up! xD That experience was bad because I was like 6' (now 6' 3") and it severely hurt my knee caps from banging on the handle bar in front of the seat. Can't wait to get back up there.
NINCUB
Just rode them both for the first time yesterday! HANDS DOWN: The Beast! SOB... was a S... O... B.... It wasn't that rough on the body... but my brain rattled in my head so bad.... I did not like that feeling at all.... It was not enjoyable to me... The Beast is now my fav woodie.... I rode it 2xs.... the first blew me away... and then the night ride was the best coaster ride I have ever experienced. SERIOUSLY.
steel
Okay, I am definitely standing alone on this, but Beast is my favorite woodie ever and it will probably stay that (better than Voyage, too). Nothing in the world, nothing, can ever compare to sitting in the front row of Beast at night. Even if it's not as fast as it used to be, the cool air pounding against your face is well worth the lack of speed. Even in the day, I think people tend to be very unfair to Beast. It's a completely different kind of ride. It wasn't designed to have major forces, it was designed to simulate immense speed, and that is exactly what it does. If that's not your preference, fine, but don't beat it down for not being what it isn't supposed to be. Furthermore, I have ridden Beast in the back row and I had absolutely no problem with it. It's rough, yes, but it's a totally different rough than I have experienced on any other ride. As opposed to the violent shaking that Voyage experiences coming back (which people try to pass off as "violent intensity" - complete BS, IMO), Beast bounces. I can't get enough. Especially in that helix (Omg, don't even get me started on that helix).

I rode in the back of the Voyage and it actually hurt me! The Beast is bumpy but it has never actually heart me. Their is a catch to riding the Beast in the back though. Never ride in train number 3. No matter how long I have been waiting in line I will never ride in train 3. It is by far the worst train on their. I think its because of the wheels. But I haven't been to KI in a year so I don't know now.
ParkTrips
I don't care for either of them - to me, the Beast is a mediocre woodie that is largely forgettable. Son of Beast is much less forgettable because it inflicts so much pain. Both would make some really nice toothpicks and firewood.

ParkTrips
Don't put your words into my mouth. The Beast hurt to me. It caused me to pop a few pills so I could continue my day at the park. I could never ride it again and be fine with that. Sorry I don't care for a ride you will always (stubbornly) proclaim as your #1.
dragsterfan420
Sorry man. Well it all depends on where you ride in the train and what train you ride in. It's never hurt me like that. I was trying to be stubborn.
DBru
^I've ridden pretty much every seat on The Beast; all hurt equally as much (IMO).
PKI Jizzman
^I've ridden pretty much every seat on The Beast; all hurt equally as much (IMO). I ride on a regular basis. I think it's pretty safe to say a non wheel seat is the smoothest part of the train. A front seat ride isn't bad at all.
almightyfire
I just rode the both of them and to ME, the beast is better. I just rode the son for the first time and it was a waste of time. Now, I found the beast to be more rough than the son, but none of them hurt me at all. I don't understand what people mean, that was never a complaint before steel coasters were built. I am in my 40's and I started out on a woodie and so none of them has hurt me enough for me to not want to go back on them. Aw toughen up people. Just hold on tightly to the bar and you wont be shifting from one side to the other and slamming into the side of the car. I never hold my hands up and I have a good time, even on the Texas Giant. jamesdillaman
I worked at the Beast for 2 years, and rode it every day during those seasons many times, over 1000 rides (lost count) and sitting in the second seat of the train (directly behind the front seat) is the smoothest seat on the train. Also, I can confirm the Beast used to be an amazing ride. The ending was simply mind-blowing, especially at night. All the trims (especially all the magnetic ones, which cannot be turned off!) really tamed down the ride. -James Dillaman
