bgwfreak
Well this will probably be the last of my retro PTR's (as this is the last of my Mom's old pics from parks). This one features BGE when it was still called Busch Gardens The Old Country. Sorry Mom must have hated coasters, she didn't take any pics of Nessy (like you need more pics of that). It also contains Late 70's pics from Disney World and SeaWorld! Enjoy. P.S. If you want to check out the other retro PTRs go here... Santa's Land, SFOG and other random parks- http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27389 Carowinds - http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27963 Obligatory shot of some big fish. And that pretty much does it. I hope you've enjoyed my little retro TRs. And thanks to Ted for "inspiring" me. I guess something good does come out of WV. Thanks Mom for the awesome pic. Da Teaky Room. I so didn't get this as a kid. Double exposed 20,000 leagues. Would that make it 40,000 leagues? Fly you stupid elephant!!! Fly! of the big bad wolf? Who's afraid... Obligatory shot. Mom and I in front of Disney. Even though I was really young when this was taken, I still remember it. On da boat. That's Space Mountain (site of my terror-filled first and last ride) wayyyyyyyyyyy off in the distance. Random slide of doom pic from Asheboro, NC. Obiligatory Pre-Alpengeist Le Scoot shot Flat credit I didn't know I had! Cha Ching! Nice that these are still at the park (I think). How do you fly this stinking thing? That's me up front. Da Train! Da Train! Pre-Drachenfire days. Apparantley it was Pre-Grass days too! One of BGE's former mascots. Don't know what this guy was called. Funny how I'm the biggest of the three now...I'm of course the smallest. I think these were taken in 1978.
Golfie
LOL! "Of some big fish." I like how you took old slides... it's cool seeing what rides are still at the parks these days. Andrew C.
BeemerBoy
Nice job, man! I'll be digging through the archives soon as well. I can never get enough of classic old school Disney.

Actually those are pictures not slides. Back in the 70's they did the little square pictures instead of the 3x5 and 4x7 that we have today. CoasterFanatic
Nice shots! I love seeing pictures of Disney back when things were much simpler. Those Disney pictures would be old "Disc" camera shots, would they? I figured it was either that or 126.
bgwfreak
^ OT....so what's 300 going to be??? Back to the cameras... I wonder what they were exactly myself. The ones in the first thread I posted were from a 110 camera...anyone remember those? They were these thin long little cameras that were pretty cheap, but took decent shots. Not 35MM of course, but not bad for the 70's. But their photos were always the little square shots. I don't know if Mom had a 110 as well, they had several cameras growing up. I remember an old Kodak they had, but can't recall what type it was. They still have it sitting on a shelf in the living room. lol
BeemerBoy
Holy way-back machine Batman!! I completely forgot about disk cameras! They do resemble disk pics. Wow, I'm still floored by that blast from the past.
CoasterFanatic
^ it makes sense that the BGW shots were taken with a 110. The ratio looks just about right, but the second set were not. Since I am not aware of anyone switching from 100 to 126 (That would be kind of backwards), I am willing to bet that the Orlando shots were taken with a Kodak Disc Camera. If they were, the clarity is pretty good for disc shots. // FYI: 126 is the film that looks like 110 (also cartridge) but is much taller. The frame size was close to 35mm but narrower. Also the popular flash source was those crazy disposable bulbs.
bgwfreak
^ Ahhhhhhh... I remember those awful disposable flashes. But I don't think they ever had one of those cameras. So now it's a mystery what she used back then. Did the disc cameras have film that kind of looked like a View Master disc? View Master, those were the high tech days! BeemerBoy
^ Yep, the disks came in a yellow foil-type package if I remember right.
CoasterFanatic
^ You do remember correctly. At the time, all Kodak "cartridge" film came sealed in the that silly little yellow package.
mcjaco
I've got 110 pictures somewhere. I don't recall them being square. I forgot all about those stupid flash cubes you could buy.
QueerRudie
Great trip photos- They brought back a few very lost memories of youth and BGTOC in the very early 80's. The fruit drinks in the small plastic fruits. (They probably still have those floating around, but since I started to ride I never noticed them anymore.) The now-defunct Monoral and Brewery tour. Sadly, this was the extent of my thrill level at that point in my life. I missed out on Glissade. But it was the most amazing thing to me to see the canning section of the factory! How HUGE the Le Scoot log flume seemed to me at that age. The Festhaus being big, noisy and smelly. (I still can't stand the smell of sauerkraut!) Getting sick on the train ride (See aformentioned fruit drink in the plastic fruit!) The petting zoo animals chasing me around and 'relieving' themselves on my shoes. Guaranteed to make my day less fun. The cable cars (Blimp Debarcadere, Zeppling Landung etc.) What a great trip down memory lane. (Even if the memory isn't as good as it used to be!)
