Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

As nice as an on-site hotel would be, Cedar Fair unfortunately doesn't invest that kind of money in Valleyfair. Cedar Point and Knotts Berry Farm are the only parks in the chain that have on-site hotels (correct me if I'm wrong), and if CF is going to build more of them, I think they'd do it at a larger park like Carowinds or Canada's Wonderland.

Valleyfair may be able to support an RV park with electric hookups. A lot of Cedar Fair parks have those.

Of all the locations for a Larson flyer, I see the old Scrambler pad or the Corkscrew lawn being the most likely spots--assuming we get anything at all. Has anyone spotted anything from the Army Corps of Engineers? I want a definite answer as to whether we'll get that new perimeter road or not...it's difficult to speculate on anything with this limbo status lol

An on site resort would be a terrible idea, it would be a lot of money and ValleyFair doesn't get nearly enough visitors (outside of MN). It makes sense for Cedar Point and Kings Island to have one because of who they are. If anyone from a far distance wants to visit, the Holiday Inn off Canterbury Road would suffice. I think even an RV park would be a stretch.

I think the Larson flyers should be placed in high rollers turn around, then refurbish Monster and paint Enterprise, and move it over to the wave area.

There is no way you could put the Larson Flyers in the High Roller turn around. This is because there are support cables supporting the turn around that are all secured in the center on the ground as you can see in the picture below.

Yes I was thinking that when I was typing it but, I loved the idea so much I just posted it!

First Haunt like thing to see this year- The new Chateau du Damné is starting to look amazing! Who's excited for Haunt- any thought?!

I'm not a big Haunt fan, but that looks quite impressive (at least by Valleyfair standards).

Not me, that means the operating season is coming to an end. But it is nice to see VF give Haunt some love because it just keeps getting more popular every year. It is good to see the park investing cash into new attractions. According to the building permits they spent $100,000 on the building, $5,700 on the electrical/heating and another $20,000 on the outside facade which can now be seen in the picture you posted. Not a bad little sum to spend on a Haunt building considering they have to spend even more to decorate it inside and out.

Well, now just three days away from the start of August, and with no footers or prep work obvious, I'm starting to think 2016 isn't our year for a new B&M invert. I guess we never know until announcements are made, but I would think that we would see some sort of activity/footer work starting by now if an August announcement was in the works.

Keeping fingers crossed for 2017 now!!!

Well uncross your fingers and recross them for 2019-2021 this coaster is not coming soon. I think Cedar Fair will be fixing up Kings Dominion with a good airtime machine (hyper) Canada's Wonderland a Wing, Carowinds a Wing in 2020, and of course Cedar Point with a coaster every two years. This is what's starting to piss me off. This coaster keeps getting pushed back. Lets say KD gets a coaster this year a hyper and CP a dive. Ok so next year comes along what about CW wing? So a wing comes to CW 2017-2018 off season. So what about KI? So KI FOR EXAMPLE gets a RMC or GCI, ok so then CP may get a coaster. So 2018-2019 offseason KI gets a coaster. Yay now we're at 2019 Carowinds needs a coaster and CP. So the parade keeps going on and I DO NOT see Vallley Fair fitting in. -.- I'm really not happy about this, but what can you do. My tbh// the coaster is coming 2023-2026. Well that's it guys a lot of those years are wishful thinking to because CF doesn't put in 2 coaster in a year for multiple years. Ugh

First off don't call me kid, refer me to the lead or something other than kid. If you keep calling me kid I'll call you old goat. Getting back to the subject is that I can't remember since I've become a coaster fan, CF putting in two coasters a year could you remind me? Thanks

I'm at Six Flags Great America right now till Saturday waiting in line on Goliath I wouldn't mind a Goliath at Valleyfair or a Outlaw Run believe Outlaw Run cost around $10 million would that be in Valleyfairs budget range for a new coaster? I also wouldn't mind a Batman The Ride either I'm heading there next after I ride Goliath looks like fun.

I would love to have an RMC at Valleyfair. Will it happen? Probably not .

Not every park needs a new big coaster to grow.

Valleyfair is investing capital into more family-friendly attractions to draw in more families. That is is what has been happening for quite some time so it must be working for them. A B&M or RMC at this current time seems random and too risky as it completely negates what the park is currently doing. Remember, this is a business first and foremost, whatever brings in the money (family investments) will keep happening until they find/implement a better means of growth or stability.

... So much wrong with this post. Cedar Point doesn't put in a new coaster every two years, and won't get a coaster until 2020 after the Dive. The rest is fanboy fueled sadness. There's zero chance Valleyfair will have to wait that long after being deemed a growth park
