thecoasterlead
MIA won't be getting anything soon, it may get a waterpark expansion like the GM said but it won't get a coaster I think MIA in the next 20 years will be turned into a wildwater kingdom, it won't be know as the park they may keep the park open due to Shivering Timbers but that's the only thing that keeps the park running. Everything else is a clone or a crappy ride or both MIA has no growth Michgan is going threw tuff times right now so there's no money in the park or very little. Just last week Police told people "Enter Detroit at your own risk" so idk I don't think MIA will be seeing something anytime soon
DILinator
^As a Michigander, I have to disagree with a lot of what you said here! Not only do I believe MiA does have room for growth, and will grow incrementally over the years, the state has been doing better financially as of late. Detroit is actually seeing a lot of revitalization, and the West side of the state, where MiA is located, is actually much more affluent than the East side. Plus, MiA is allegedly CF's most profitable park, so I rather doubt they're on the chopping block - at least not for financial reasons.

They would use their rides at other parks. Could ValleyFair see MA's slc at their park someday? I wonder if this is a dumb question... I hope not

And you realize that VF and MIA pull almost the same amount of guest? Which is funny because VF is in a lot larger metro area. So if MIA does get waterpark addition, thats great. It would make our great water park even better. MIA has been pulling in more guest ever year, and this is with out new attractions.  But seriously, Im not arguing with this clown Im hoping both parks continue to grow and see success. .
thecoasterlead
If you guys want to leave in a dreamland go ahead, look at the past 5 years for MIA...TONS OF GUEST ARE JUST POURING IN. You know what watching YouTube videos of MIA I can just see ALL the GUEST just pouring in!! Still just like so much where the parking lots empty This is a valleyfair forum just because I can understand your gets boring don't come to this forum and start a fight calling me names, I respected your opinion. I do think we will see the waterpark become one of the best, probably the best but for the park, it's not gonna happen. They aren't even preparing the park like they are to valleyfair! You CANT agrue with that, we have been getting thing every year to prepare, you can't just have tons of people come out for a coaster but the rest of the park sucks. So getting back, MIA doesn't have a Catering area that seats THOUSANDS they didn't just add a expansion that makes the water park bigger by far. For gods sake they don't even have a drop/shoot tower Wait they do...Frog hopper But seriously you can't agrue with most of this...
Mikxy
I was at the park yesterday with a friend, I almost managed to slip out of the pirate ship (forgive me I forgot the name). I also tried out the new slides. The blue ones really hurt my butt. And we got a reride on Excalibur. That was cool. Here's the list of rides we hit up and any notes. Â Corkscrew broke down when we got there, but they managed to fix it within 15 minutes of it breaking. We didn't ride though. Wild thing didn't seem as rattily as usual. Same goes for steel venom. On renegade, my friend was flying all over the place, side to side, I don't know how. Excalibur was pulling some massive g's. I kind of greyed out at the start of the figure eight. On Power Tower, the tower that stops at 3/4, didn't seem to stop when we were on it. Overall, it was a good time.

Your crazy rants about how MIA is gonna close down is hilarious because they literary do nothing to the park and still increase there attendance every year while pulling in the highest profit margins in the chain! Â Listen kid. You have a decent park in VF. Dont be so jaded. VF will be adding a new service road and a new parking lot. Big things are coming for your park so chill. Big things are coming for your park so chill  Hey sorry for my rant, your last post came off a little rude, I didn't mean to be that way! I apologize, truly it's not the way I like to react. I agree MIA will not be shutting down but it won't be getting a lot in the near future. Cedar fair is to busy still fixing up Parmont and it's taking too long because the old parks expect CP are getting Underrated and not brought to the full level of profit. I hope CF gets done with fixing up Parmont it's taking to long. Here's the deal, you heard what I said what was pretty much fact but I did put it into rant style sorry..but I do think CF in the next few years needs to start focusing on their old parks because we do need stuff. Yes I do think MIA could be a KI, or even a SFGA but it won't happen sadly because CF is only focusing on CP KD KI CW CARO and even CGA in that matter. I really hope they get done with KD and CARO and start repairing and expanding WOF KBF MIA VF, and even CGA... Again I'm very sorry for how I ranted I thought you were trying to be a and it was my fault because you weren't. Sorry again, no hard feeling I hope. ACES
I'm at Valleyfair now watching to see if I spot the CEO Matt haven't seen him yet. Valleyfair is doing a special event McDonald's security is checking bags at the front gates and the park is more buysier for a Monday and happy to report on a Monday morning Renegade is running two trains no wait times. For this season on Renegade at 11:00am I rode it for 500 times for the 2015 season my count so far. I'm going back in to get something to eat and see if I can spot Matt and Frazier walking. Â I came back in the park just after noon went by the wave I saw Frazier said hello and I did see the Matt walking in the park right now. madsencarson
Hey everyone, I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this video on here, or if anyone has seen this video, but I found an episode of Discovery's Build It Bigger on YouTube, and it features Renegade being built back in 2006-2007. It also features Griffin the Dive coaster being built, along with some behind the scenes footage of Sheikra. I just thought it was really cool that Renegade got featured on a TV show. It shows how cold it was to work in MN, and they show workers putting up lift supports and layering the wooden track. Check it out if you have the time! PhantomPoster32
I really hope they get done with KD and CARO start repairing and expanding WOF KBF MIA VF, and even CGA... Again I'm very sorry for how I ranted I thought you were trying to be a and it was my fault because you weren't. Sorry again, no hard feeling I hope. Â Ok, I get that you're young, very young, and you are extremely passionate about your home park. That's awesome. I remember when I was like that. Now please take my advice as someone who in your position a long time ago. No matter how passionate or rude you post on a message board, it won't change the direction or the frequency of expenditures at your park. Â Regarding what I quoted. Being well traveled I will tell you that KD is right there with VF in terms of needing help. The park is extremely disjunct right now. They are trying to fix it but it's not something they can fix in one season or overnight. Â MIA, as mentioned above, is doing quite well on attendance. It's actually one of the more profitable parks in the chain. Â WOF has been receiving pretty good sized additions here lately. I honestly feel that if they hadn't had to basically completely redo Viking Voyager's plumbing and most of the park's infrastructure this past this off season there would have been another good addition. Plumbing and rewiring is not cheap. Not to mention that they are completely retracting Timber Wolf which was a last minute decision. Â CGA was caught in limbo with the uncertainty of Levi Field but redid the remaining parts of the old kiddie area and incorporated them into Planet Snoopy while adding rides. They're focusing on a better park experience and you'll see that with the conversion of Vortex to a floor less. Not cheap. Â Long story short, don't get so worked up and enjoy this hobby otherwise you won't last very long See you on the midway

RCjunkie
Valleyfair GM Dave Frazier just tweeted out the picture below and with it was the text reading, "Brain trust for developing and building Valleyfair. Left to right; Dave Sherman, Walt Wittmer and Sam Kapplinger.". I know Dave and Walt were the developers (and original owners of VF until they sold to CP) with Walt also serving as a GM of the park. I don't know who Sam Kapplinger is though, does anyone else? Maybe he was the architect or foreman for building the original park, please share if you know. Â Probably just a nice picture to share of the original founders and developers of the park getting together. Or do you think it could be a hint of future development for the park? Maybe VF got their building permit approved and wanted their input about the park for some reason. Probably not but it is good to dream because it doesn't look like the park has any announcements coming for 2016 as of now. Brain trust that developed Valleyfair. VF15
^ There's still plenty of time left for them to announce a new flat ride, waterpark expansion, etc., but I think we can officially rule out a coaster for next year because it's late July and I haven't seen any land clearing or markers that would suggest a coaster . I hope this would happen though but I'm not keeping my hopes up for it.  No, it did not sound like that. If I remember correctly it was proposed sometime in April and the public hearing was open until sometime in May. That was only two months ago. When your dealing with government wetlands, actually anything governmental in general, it tends to be a longer process and cost more. I'm not surprised if this is taking awhile and haven't seen signs of construction starting at this point yet. There is still plenty of time for a project like this to be completed for next season. Maybe there were some amendments they had to make to the plan. Maybe its actually an off season plan after the 2016 season. Maybe its all approved and Dave isn't telling us because he thinks some of you bug him too much! Nobody knows!  http://www.thestreet.com/story/13224612/1/why-cedar-fair-remains-a-good-value-after-its-stunning-recovery.html?puc=yahoo&cm_ven=YAHOO  Interesting article on Cedar Fair from an investor's prospective. $1.6 billion in debt and paying $96 million in annual interest.
