Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

I do think the back of the park is better fit for a flume and the front a new coaster. With the likely removal of Excalibur and the flume replacing Thunder Canyon (They would build the flume next to TC would they?) I think it would be a very isolated ride. I think the best solution is to make the tunnel between Renegade and TC part of the new flumes queue. It would give the new flume more space. Thoughts?

I had a question regarding single and multi-train operations. First, the park was, for the most part, great tonight, especially the crew on Wild Thing and Power Tower. Respect.

However, this is the second time I have been there this year with single train operations on Renegade with significant lines beyond the tunnel. Personally, I was okay waiting, but at least a dozen people left the line and seemed nonplussed. Is there a reason Renegade runs one train, despite its popularity?

Has Renegade been running two trains on weekends? How come they can't keep both trains running in cycles in the morning until the lines build past the tunnels and with Power Tower run all three towers run both turbo drops keep the lines down on turbo drop?

The park is normal today. With the heavy rain this morning everything was open. Got in at 9:30am no one there. Waited ten minutes for Corkscrew to open when it did got two re rides front row till ten then headed to Extreme Swing two re rides no one in line headed to Power Tower two re rides on turbo drop two re rides on space shot when leaving turbo dop the ride ops said I didn't have to walk all the way around nice. Also when I was at Power Tower talk with one of the ride ops ask said there was a power outage Saturday said it was chaotic. Rides where closed ALL games were the only thing open. Went to Wild Thing no wait time for 45 minutes did several re rides in the front half way through going up the lift on Wild Thing a guy was taking photos or recording ride op stopped the train don't people listen to rules? Also with Wild Thing again on train TWO the first car shakes a lot vibrates to only in the front is that normal? Went to Renegade rode that four times in the front re rides no wait times running fine. Started to walk to the front of the park saw Frazier stopped chatted a few minutes I mentioned to Frazier about train TWO on Wild Thing about the shakeing and vibration said he would put that on his things to do list and I also told him about the POWER OUTAGE on Saturday he wasn't there but said it wasn't good. None of the walk way lights were on to. It was a power outage somewhere in Shakopee. I like visiting shakeing Frazier hand when I see him. The park didn't get busy till around noon.

My upcoming Midwest coaster trip.

I was at VF on Sunday. I actually missed riding Renegade because it kept closing and opening and closing again. An employee said there was something wrong with a train. I think they were trying to run 2 trains but were unable to.

Went back to the park for a while I notice yesterday when I was talking with Frazier about the train TWO on the shaking and vibration I went back to Wild Thing this morning notice they had both train one and train three running today. Both train one does not vibrate or shake in the front first car and along with the same thing they had train three operating today doesn't vibrate in the front seat. Do they run train three on a regular basis? I wonder if Frazier had maintence crews looked at it because train two is on the transfer track. Frazier said he would put that on his things to do list.

What is the secret to going on days that are super empty? Are there just random days where it is super vacant or is there a certain day of the week? When my friend and I went the lines averaged around a 10-15 minute wait which isn't bad, but I would really fancy a 5-10 minute wait, similar to the wait for hades 360 at mt olympus

Tuesdays and Wednesday in May, June, and September tend to be the days where things are the slowest unless there are field trips, but sometimes it could be crowded on these days for no reason. But take this advice, because these days are most likely to be less crowded.

I've found Sundays after Labor Day to be the deadest days at Valleyfair, but if you're talking strictly about the summer season, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually the least crowded, though I wouldn't expect 5-minute waits unless you're there first thing in the morning.

For those that have ridden Magnum XL200 and Wild Thing what are the key differences and which do you prefer? From online footage WT looks smoother but Magnum looks more intense and I can't tell for sure.

They are both about the same as far as smoothness, Magnum is a bit more thrilling with the "tunnels" and the pretzel turnaround at the end. I've from some people that they prefer Steel Force over Magnum though.

The only big difference that I found was the airtime. Magnum's airtime is pretty intense! Otherwise, there isn't much of a difference that I recall! Magnum is a tad bit jerkier and a littler rougher than Wild Thing but Magnum is more intense.

I love Wildthing, but I very much prefer Magnum... Those triangular airtime hills are amazing, and there's nothing like charging out towards the lake.

The trains and transitions feel very similar to Excalibur, actually. Magnum's airtime reminds me of the one ejector hill on Excalibur, only it happens repeatedly on the entire return trip.

I've ridden both, and I much prefer Magnum. It is slightly rougher than Wild Thing, but the more intense positive-Gs and stronger air make up for it. Magnum's return run has lots of ejector air, while Wild Thing's return run is just light floater air. I still enjoy riding Wild Thing, but after riding Magnum, it makes me wish that Valleyfair would've gone with Arrow instead of Morgan for WT.

Magnum is much more thrilling than Wild Thing. Wild Thing just glides over hills with really no forceful airtime. Magnum ejects you out of your seat and has a much better pace to the ride. I'm not a fan of break runs. Magnum wins by miles!
