Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Anyone get a email alert saying Valleyfair is CLOSED this Sunday for a private event? . Is it the Carlson company again?

VF15: You said somewhere in one of your posts about having a air race thrill ride? I watch some YouTube videos at Lagoon Park in Utah is that the air race thrill ride your referring to? Looks like fun I haven't been on one. Valleyfair needs some more thrill rides that goes up side down anyone agree?

Some idea Thrill Rides Valleyfair could use.

(1) Spin Cycle (silver wood theme park)

(2) Air Race (Lagoon Park)

(3) Samuria (Lagoon Park)

(4) Max Air, Cyclops (Cedar Point)

(5) Sling Shot

(6) Larson Flyers

(7) Apollo (Dorney Park)

(8) Revolution (Dorney Park)

(9) Avatar Airbrnder (Nickelodeon Universe)

(10) Brain Surge (Nickelodeon Universe)

(11) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles She'll Shock.

(12) Zip Line?

(13) Wind Seeker.

I just got a updated email alert from Valleyfair

I also received that email, but they must have just reused the same email from last year because the dates are wrong.

EDIT: Never mind, they just sent out an email with the corrected dates.

I think that it is closed every first sunday of June, which is why Coasting for Kids is on a different day than all the other parks.

(9) Avatar Airbrnder (Nickelodeon Universe)

(10) Brain Surge (Nickelodeon Universe)

(11) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles She'll Shock.

(12) Zip Line?

I would say no for these, seeing that they are all 1/2 hour away.

I would love to see a zipline at Valleyfair, but I don't think that that will ever happen.

What is the absolute best ticket price to Valleyfair? How much do they cost at Cub Foods?

If you're visiting before June 19th, the Everyone Pays Kids Price deal is only $32. Otherwise, there's a $35 weekday ticket, or the Cub Foods ticket ($37).

Rides at Valley Fair that go upsidown.

Corkscrew

Enterprise

Looping Starship

Rip tide

Rides at NU that go upsidown.

Brain Surge

Rock Bottom Plunge

Shell Shock (it's possible)

Both are pathetic, but VF has the edge. If VF gets a thrill ride it should go upsidown, four rides is not justifiable. After that a B&M coaster with inversions. Thrill rides I would also like would be a sky screamer/wind seeker, and a frisbee ride.

I really don't think we would get a Windseeker. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all of the CF Windseeker's exactly 301 feet? That wouldn't work with the height restriction and I highly doubt they would want to make it shorter than Power Tower, kind of defeats the purpose. Although if are considered for a Windseeker at 301 feet, lets talk Giga's

The very back of the park and where SV is don't have the height limit. I can see a Giga very far down the road, but discussing at this point won't help us. Let's please not repeat the Windseeker discussion again.

Before Valleyfair even thinks of getting a second hyper coaster we need a full sized inverted coaster first and add some new thrill rides and expanding the water park more once all that's done then you can talk about adding a giga coaster but we have limited space for one. If we get a Wind Seeker we can go as high as 275 feet it can be built. The one in Adventureland, Iowa is The Storm Chaser 260 feet 35mph. I emailed Cedar Fair about adding a new B&M inverted coaster I got response back from Cedar Point there going to forward my email to the right repersenative I'm waiting to see if I'll get a response back lol see what they said lol.

Garyman does this affirm what you were told about the supposed 2016 addition? It doesn't look like a coaster will be built next year if this rumor turns out to be true. The thing that confuses me the most about the picture of the alleged new soak city parking is how large it is. I mean, do that many people go to soak city? I don't know why we would need that big of a parking lot for soak city. It definetly raises a few questions

I find this news very interesting. I cant help but wonder if the size of the new parking lot is a little excessive though, being that its intended for guests going to the Water Park. Now I am curious as to when Excalibur's closure will be announced.

Screamscape is right on most of there rumors and after reading this I'm getting excited for Valleyfair the next few seasons. My guess is Valleyfair is next after Carowinds. Screamscape had the rumor about Fury 325 maybe they will be right on Valleyfair.

Maybe they need a new large parking lot for soak city anyone who has been to Valleyfair on a busy hot weekend say the 4th of July the main lot is almost full and what screamscape said about the expansion maybe they should add a new parking lot for soak city. Since it is the parks 40th anniversary I would like to see a major capital announcement from what screamscape is reporting on the removal of Excaliburs possibly its last season and the plans in the annoucement for the new parking area for soak city and the new access road going around the edge of the park. Having a big annoucement and have a big media day for Valleyfair From what people were talking about the removal Excalibur for the inverted now it see more likely for the water park expansion and I need to ask this would they include Thunder Canyon as part of the water park nothing was said about that? I think the inverted coaster will go up in front of the park Dinasours Alive area? And don't forget about the yellow markings by the amphitheater are still there. Also a new toll lane entrance like Carowinds would be nice.

What I'm hoping is that, like Carowinds, we would get a front entrance roller coaster in 2016 and water park expansion with the removal of an older coaster for 2017. If the Soak City expansion is major enough, which it seems like it is, I feel like they would either remove Excalibur in July, like Thunder Road, or close it after memorial day weekend to prep the land and wait for 2017. It's also nice to hear that Valleyfair was once again mentioned as a growing market in Cedar Fair's Q1 report. I'm excited to see what happens.

EDIT: I just noticed that the Valleyfair website says Excalibur will close on September 14th for the season.

If this is indeed Excalibur's final season (I'd assume it is since it says "2015 - Expansion" in the bottom right corner) I will miss it a little bit because it is certainly a unique ride despite it's jerkiness. However, I'm more excited about what this means for the future because an infrastructure improvement of this size signals to me that something good is coming.

I will be at the park later this week, and I'll report on anything new that I see.

I really hope that ScreamScape is wrong here. I just don't want to see Excalibur leave to be replaced with a parking lot.

I hope the new coaster has a similar intensity level, with the high g-forces and awesome airtime.

As discussed numerous times in this forum, I don't think the invert would be a front entrance coaster, we already have steel venom and part of wild thing close to the entrance so I doubt that will happen. But you never know, with the recent news a new spot for a coaster could be anywhere. As for Excalibur, It has said that on their website since spring, the back of the park always closes early due to Haunt....It says the same thing for Thunder Canyon.

My thoughts:

1) The original document notes "These new parking lots will allow for some development of some of the existing parking lots within the levee.

2) I believe the first image represents the area to be covered by pavement. The second image is wetland to be filled in. The discrepancy is that Excalibur has already been filled in, so no additional wetland disturbance is necessary. Also how would you build an entrance with Excalibur in the way? All signs point to Excalibur being toothpicked.

3) Despite how much extra area is between the parking and the waterpark, this may be too limiting in the long term unless plans are to reuse the Thunder Canyon area or start cutting into the parking lot.

4) Excalibur not closing until September doesn't mean they can't start leveling out the land around it before then.

5) If they leave Thunder Canyon for the dry park that's going to be a very isolated ride

Remember Valleyfair only has seven roller coasters if we remove Excalibur we only have six. I don't like the idea about Excalibur for a parking lot Id rather see it a inverted coaster. We can't loose any coasters I'm hopeing Valleyfair will follow Dorney Park with the removal of there Hercules wooden coaster for a new B&M Hydra The Revenge floorless coaster same thing with removing Excalibur for a new B&M inverted coaster. Also with the flooding back of the park are they talking about flood walls raising the land and what is going to be done with Thunder Canyon could they include that with the water park take out the second que line maybe add a Snake Pit water slide package go over Thunder Cayon or a water coaster?

Does anyone remember a bull dozer over by the Valleyfair housing this off season I took a photo of it I think they should move the employee parking lot down by the Valleyfair housing ideal spot for one and what are they going to use this land for just for parking right now or expansion? And I think the parking lot could use a upgrade new stripes or repave it to and at the end of the parking lot down by the river is that field going to be over flow parking still?

VF15 if you ever want to meet I'm only fifteen minutes away from Valleyfair I'll be there this weekend I normally were a black shivering timbers t shirt blue jeans black sun glasses I've also meet captain unknown.
