valleyfairfanatic
Based on the work they've done in this area, I'm predicting that there will a new waterpark entrance at that corner because I can't understand why you'd design the path like that and then fence it off. There was a gate there that allowed employees to get into soak city quicker, It could be that.
Mdcastle
Yes, it made it quicker for the employees to get in, while still making the public walk by as many food stands and merchandise booths as possible.
CaptainUnknown
^Going off that idea, it could be another exit in case of emergencies with all the increased traffic in the area. I don't think that it will be a full entrance due to how small that corner still is. Maybe it's a future entrance after the next phase is complete and Mad Mouse is relocated? I'm holding to the idea that Mad Mouse will be relocated to the amphitheater spot as part of Route 76 as a throw-back to Wild Rails.

Again, dude, you're giving them way too much credit. That's not at all why the entrance is where it is. If that "scheme" applies to anything, it's having the two big stores up at the entrance so people can pick up a souvenir on the way out.

It seems pointless not to have an entrance there if that is not the reason. Because that's where the water park was when it was built. Even when the water park expanded in 2009 to the other side of the Imax Theater, they wouldn't have built a new entrance. That area contained the entrances for both the lower section of the Dining Patio and the Imax Patio for group meals. The area probably would have been horribly congested if the entrance was there. The first year that they could have pulled it off was last summer, at which point they were probably still finalizing the plans for this most recent expansion. Besides, isn't that the corner where all of you are so upset about the congestion anyway? You all seem to be experts on traffic flow, but then can't think of a logical reason for having the water park entrance not in the middle of a tight pathway, surrounded by two group meal areas. Maybe there will be a new entrance there eventually, but there's really no reason that they should have moved it before.
RCjunkie
So what is the reason then? It seems pointless not to have an entrance there if that is not the reason. They had a gate entrance there before for employees and also to move things in and out of the park like towels, food, souvenirs and other supplies to make the water park run. They could use this entrance anytime without disrupting visitors to the park yet keep it running so my guess is they will still have one there for these purposes. Plus it might be used to move the Food (Hot Dog) Truck into the water park on busy days. Remember how the side of the new food truck added last year reads, "Eat, Ride, SLIDE and repeat."? Plus as dippingdotsguy8 points out, that is already a congested corner and if they put a entrance in there it would probably get even worse for traffic their on busy days. To clarify, I'm not saying they won't ever put one there. I'm saying they definitely wouldn't have when there were also two picnics areas in that corner. VF15
On second thought, I guess they might not put a new entrance at that corner after all because they are using some of the walkway space there for landscaping (I think that's what it is), plus all of the good points made above. Even though I'm all for landscaping, it seems like this could slow down visitor traffic even more.
ACES
Another area they could improve on is build a new first aid building maybe move that up by the front of the park. Has that first aid building been there since the park has been open? They should move mad mouse maybe put it were the supercat sits or over by the enterprise in front of the park. ariznglori
Those look like white tarps with new plants waiting to be put in flowerbeds sitting on top. Probably have the tarps to keep the bricks from getting dirty...or to keep the plants somewhat protected.
GCI Wooden
Yay! I just signed up to be an aid station volunteer at Valleyfair for the Run and Ride Race! That means that I'll be at the park on opening weekend! I'll be there for the half marathon/10K day, so if you are running that day, I might be serving you water! Snowyowl1028
For the CF dark ride situation where could one go at VF? Matt Ouitmet said there are available buildings at all 11 CF parks. I would guess on using the building they use for the Zombie High School, though they could relocate the bumper cars to Route 76 and use that building. VF15
^ When Valleyfair eventually gets a dark ride, I think they will remove the amphitheater and create a new building for the dark ride there. The bumper car and Zombie High buildings don't look like they'd be big enough to house a dark ride. Here are few general improvement pictures from Dave Frazier. The lazy river is getting new paint. The new paths in front of the slide tower. High Roller is getting a new queue line.

He said eventually it will happen so it is certain we will get a dark ride in the future. 2017 isn't too far away, 2013 seems like a few months ago. Snowyowl1028
About 16,500,000 in U.S. Currency, not completely impossible, crazier things have happened. After all we are a "growth park". That doesn't mean turn into CP, but it counts for something.
valleyfairfanatic
I thought we were on the subject of 2016 because it is usually the subject. My apologies!
ariznglori
High Roller's queue is getting modified again? Can't wait to see what it's like this year! Wouldn't mind getting something like iSpeed after the invert! Put 17 million into each, call it a two-year 34 million-dollar investment, round off the coaster collection and change Valleyfair forever. On another note, do you think it's possible we may get a dark ride before our next coaster? With Dinos hogging the best invert location until 2019/20, we might see a dark ride in the amphitheater location before that.

As amazing as that would be, Cedar Fair has basically dropped Intamin as a manufacturer (at least for now), and even though Valleyfair was noted as a "growth park", I would expect the maximum price tag for a coaster to be about $15 million. It would be nice if they spent more than that, but I wouldn't count on it.

GCI Wooden
Oh no, not the "Cedar Fair has dropped Intamin" discussion again... I would love an Intamin at Valleyfair. I do feel like B&M is the more like option, though. This is purely based on the fact that Cedar Fair has been building lots of B&M coasters recently. dboor129
I think the only time I would like to see Intamin back at Valleyfair would be if we could get a full circuit launch coaster. I know we have Steel Venom but that's just my opinion. But yeah, lately its seems cedar fair has been doing the most business with B&M so that's probably the best viable option. MagnumFreak25
Well if they want a launch coaster, Mega Coaster, or other insane ride they'll go with intamin. If not, and they want someting with inversions, crowd attraction, and landscape changing, they'll go with B&M. It's pretty much as simple as that, they really aren't that similar as companies. They specialize in completely different ride types.
