Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Gee, that was really fast. I'm impressed with how fast this is moving along. I hope they can get that area cleaned up fast since the park will be open on Thursday night.

I'm guessing that the volleyball courts will the next things to go.

Well we can only hope that 2016 is the year for our coaster. Or at least the year for a new thrilling flat ride, such as a giant Frisbee to hold us off until 2017. My perfect coaster would be the world's tallest b&m invert, flying above the brand new front entrance. It would be named Avalanche, with a cool white and blue color scheme. It would go through tunnels that are themed by ice. It would also feature 7 inversions, and they would be forceful due to the sheer speed of the coaster. Ugh one can dream.

Hey Valleyfairfanatic, When was that filmed? It looked like there wasn't any destruction done yet, and now it's all gone. It would be interesting to know how long it took.

Also, I watched them destroy the Mad Mouse bathroom, and it was done in about half an hour, I was amazed. I can't wait for it to go vertical!

I like the idea, especially the color scheme but I would name it The Blizzard or Polar Vortex because Minnesota has no mountains. Of course if VF gets a coaster like that I really don't care what they call it.

I filmed it last saturday. I will be going to the park thursday to get an updated look

And if VF got a B&M invert along these lines, I'd love to see it go through a zero-g roll above the park entrance. Cedar Fair is starting to have a thing for coasters interacting with the front entrance (first Gatekeeper and now Fury 325). Any new coaster, B&M invert or not, would look great traveling over the park's entrance.

Wow! This has been moving VERY quickly! With the Mad Mouse bathrooms destroyed, does this mean that destruction is finished? If so, we might get vertical construction before December if they keep moving along this fast! I'll be looking forward to your video.

Yes! the speculation has begun! When I spoke with Mr. Frazier, he said that if you would have asked me "last year" what we were getting he could have told me (that's hypothetical, he would not have told me but just that he knew what was coming). Here is the exciting part. The rumor I am sitting on has developed sometime between last year, as in 2013, and now. The hint's that I have given you point to this. Now remember, this is only still a rumor but comes from a very trusted source. Before then end of the year I may learn more about this rumor. So, in my opinion, this is good news!

I was watching the web cam this morning and I saw Mr. Fazier out taking the photo that he tweeted. I txted him and confirmed that it was him. I told him that next time he does that to do a little dance for us! He just txted back and said that wouldn't be good idea!

Hey! We do too. Right here in Duluth. We even have an Alpine Coaster!

I like the name "Polar Vortex". An inverted coaster with white track and blue supports, with cool blue colored trains. And a new gate/entrance flyover and zero-g roll above the gate. That would have amazing curb appeal, and really be something the coaster community could talk about.

I like that Alpine slide too, just have not been on it in about 13-14 years. Is it still a fun ride? Unfortunately that is just one big hill, not a mountain even though they do use a ski lift to get you to the top.

If Valleyfair does wind up getting a roller coaster flying over the entrance, would the entrance itself will undergo a massive redesign, or would they be able to preserve the charm of the current structures?

I'm also wondering on if having two inverts so visible from the entrance would be odd. Would it look to the GP like too much of the same thing? I'd love an invert further back in the park to make the walk worth it. Renegade is great and all, but there's nothing else anchoring that far back part of the park.

Of course, an Intimidator 305-like coaster in Excalibur's plot and an invert over the entrance would be wonderful too.

The Alpine Coaster uses a cable type lift now. I would love for valley fair to keep the new entrance but i've heard so many rumors from admissions that they are thinking of re-doing it.

I hope that they could keep the current entrance if we do get a coaster that flies over it since I appreciate any charm that the park can retain, but considering that they have revamped CP's and Carowinds' entrances for Gatekeeper and Fury 325 respectively, the same would probably happen here.

I don't think that the GP would think of Steel Venom and a B&M invert as the same thing because they would have enough differences that they'd look like unique rides.

That is great news garyman6!! I guess a coaster for 2016 isn't unlikely! And if there is ONE THING that needs to be completely redone is the PARKING LOT. It is so bad, and they really need to tear all the concrete out and pave a whole new one. It feels awful when driving over it.

Has anyone else noticed how the park seems to be phasing in as areas are redone? Looking from Google Maps, you can see the newer pavement has a nicer look, not blacktop or asphalt. There are few areas of the park left that need to be repaved to make the whole park cohesive as far as the paths go.

Could indicate areas that may all be worked on in large phases, like how Planet Snoopy was done. For instance, if a new coaster is put in the front of the park, the areas in asphalt from High Roller's turnaround down to the carousel may all be done at once as part of a large area facelift.

I agree, the parking lot looks very ghetto, for lack of a better word.

Try pulling a garbage cart over it. Story of my life

Mr. Frazier told me he really wants to do something about the parking lot. The problem is that it is built over a bog. The ground heaves quite abit in this area. He has been working with a local paving contractor to try and develope a parking lot that is flexible and can move without cracking. This local contractor is working on such a pavement. Maybe they can team up and Valleyfair can be their testing grounds.

Look at Kings Island: Banshee, Bat, and Invertigo all in the Action Zone with a Vekoma junior invert a stone's throw away. And then over at Dorney Park, Stinger and Possessed are practically interlocking, with Talon within spitting distance. And your point being what now?
