Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Does anybody know when the park is going to release there 2018 plans? Because I know CGA and Knotts are doing there's on the 16th.

I was also just thinking this. I don't think valleyfair will because I believe that's national roller coaster day!

I thought they might do all the Cedar Fair announcements in one day so who knows...

Why wouldn't they do it on the same day as many of the other Cedar Fair Parks? If they are already announcing at those on National Roller Coaster Day, then why wouldn't they at Valleyfair!? No coaster coming? That wouldn't make a difference.

Just wondering how did the park do this evening with the sudden Tornado Warning? And what time did the rides go down?
all of the rides were down before the tornado warning was issued. They all were down by 7:30. The park was pretty much empty

I was there when the tornado sirens were going. Everyone had to go to the galaxy theater or the bathrooms in the front of the park. It was really scary because valleyfair had 4 funnels forming in the sky!

VF, WOF, DP, CW, KI, and Carowinds will all probably announce between late August to mid September. If memory serves me right, MiA usually announces in late fall to early winter.

I think really the only people who enforce the dress code policy (only on the paths) is PR and administration. I saw them bring two kids in through the gate by Mad Mouse to put their clothes back on.

On rides you must be properly clothed no matter what age, usually if there 14 and under we let it go if you have your shirt off.

^ Thanks for the update. This is explains why the construction trucks are back there and why we have not seen any major construction on moving the service road. Still no city issued construction or demolition permits either. I was hoping to see construction on moving the service road to give us an idea of what they would be doing for next year but still no clues. VF fans may be waiting another year to see this project get started but I hope I am proven wrong with an announcement later this season.

There is no eveidence that riptide is going to be removed and no one should believe it until there is. I would be fine seeing it go due to its down time and I don't really enjoy the ride that much. Though we have another riptide in the employee parking lot which makes me think they probably have more then enough parts to fix any issues and it's still there. In my opinion if they were removing it soon they probably would have gotten rid of the extra one.

The Dueling Dragons are closing in September at Universal Islands of Adventure. What are the chances of one of the Dragons coming to Valleyfair? Buying a used B&M inverted coaster would be the best chance for Valleyfair to get a B&M inverted. What would the cost be for the (ICE blue side)? Pay for shipping? It also has a cobra roll, loop, 5 inversions.

Ride information

Dueling Dragon (ICE blue side).

(1) Height: 125 feet.

(2) Speed: 55 mph.

(3) Length: 3,200 feet.

(4) Duration time: 2:25.

(5) Heigt limit: 54 inches.

(6) Two trains.

Hey guys, visited the park for the first time this season yesterday 7/28. Overall it was a good day, just a little too hot though. Surprisingly the lines weren't bad at all, the longest we waited was for North Star which was about 20 minutes. North Star is a solid addition to the park, it is not that thrilling but it has great visual appeal and really enhances the Valleyfair skyline. I think it's location is perfect, and it gives people even more of a reason to walk down the path to the Steel Venom/Route 76 area. Also, made sure to get some rides in on Excalibur just in case it gets removed but did not see any signs of construction, it's looking like construction won't start until next season. Here are some random pictures that I took during my visit.

Great addition to the park, like this a lot more than the mondial windseekers

Wild Thing was also running great, did not really notice much of a difference with the new ride control system

Riptide really livens up the games midway area!

I don't think anyone knows for sure the answer to that since sales haven't started yet. They usually announce things like that after they do start sales however, which is usually after all the major announcements have been made chain-wide.
