OldJJman
OK. So it's a bit late, so what. I took well over 2000 pics on the trip, I figure it's time to post some. Hope you like them. UK Forum members, check out the UK board for additional info. We dropped our stuff at the hotel and bailed for our first stop of the trip. Robb ended up fly as cargo. It was much cheaper to send him that way, and we collected him at the carousel. OK, Brittish art is just a bad as American. WTF is that?? Jolly, Jolly. We made it! Brittish Airways = Brittish Cuisine. Yuck. OK, if it's so damn cold outside, why was it so damn hot in the plane??? When Elissa moved away, Robb could finally start working on his money making website! "Hi! I'm Dan, and I'll annoy you every chance I get, and I hate water!!" Wow, a 747. What a POS! They should retire these dumb things! The true "mastermind" of the trip, taking her last break before the madness begins.
SharkTums
Wouldn't seeing everything from the old man's eyes either mean it's all blurry or covered in smoke?? Seriously, nice start! Can't wait to see more!
OldJJman
Continuation of our "Day 0" But Elissa had to get her "geek" shots anyway! The space shot wasn't running as they were finishing up on a rehab and extra themeing. Wow! I can see Joe filing papers from up here! Away they go.... Derek and Dan getting ready to be shot up... Robb attaching the camera to J.O. while Ryan coaches him. The first of many exclusive TPR POV's on this trip. We finally got to ride Jubilee Odyssey. Not anywhere close a bad as we were led to believe. We rode 4 times and loved it! They even have a decent looking indoor waterpark. Where else but Fantasy Island can you find "Butt Ugly Martians"? Robb and Elissa take their adopted son, Ryan, for a spin on the spinning mouse. First stop, (after a 4+ hour drive) was Fantasy Island in Skegness. OldJJman
Still going on day 0 and then onto Legoland. Legoland Windsor is Elissa approved!! Nigel trying to look manly and develop a "signature move" at the same time. (Failed miserably) Chris and Lou on Dragon's Apprentice. Mount Rushmore... (more to come) We did so much touring this day. Easter Island... Look! There's an imposter castle on the horizon! They must've know us Americans were coming. They had a generous health food stand just for us!! Exclusive TPR shot of entrance to Legoland Windsor. Complete with tree branches. O-M-G! It's Nigel, the same driver that we had on the ACE trip in 2002! Derek still doesn't understand the concept of bunk beds. Sorting out the fanboy gifts in the hotel room. (This was the only time Nicole looked at me on the whole trip!) Another new credit that we will miss. (What is it with this place?) The Queen Bee has Robb sized butts!! The triplets getting the Queen Bee credit we missed (by 1 day) last time we were here at Botton's. Elissa flashes for the camera and Ryan can't believe it! OldJJman
Continuing with Legoland... We even saw Stonehenge! We saved a lot of money today by touring Legoland Windsor. More to come soon. Brighton Pier is missing the coaster (so am I ) Though, the real working canal lock was interesting. (Took about 15 minutes for the boat to go through all of the locks) I mean, c'mon, M.C. Escher in Lego?? Get real! Seeing all the detail leads me to believe that Britts have ways too much time on their hands. A little Absinthe for Derek and Nicole... The Tower Bridge.. The London Eye and Big Ben/Parliment.. Continuing the sights... Changing of the guard... Daron: "No one's going to believe that I rode with an OzHole unless I get this picture!!" Look Ma! No hands!! I'm sorry, but that water too sick looking, even for Lego Animals! The autistic children ride the Jungle coaster. and Robb friendly! Legoland Windsor is Robb approved... OldJJman
Day 3 and Chessington The otter is protected from Lou's provocative advances. Next up, Coney Beach. Talk about tonnage in a boat!!!!! NGT trying to still score the Elissa credit. Rich hasn't developed his signature move just yet. You can see most of Dragon's Fury in this picture. Worst and slowest Ferris wheel ever! (At least until 2 weeks later!) Sure looks like Van Nuys! All of the sudden I feel like I'm in Van Nuys! The mid-course brake is on the other side of a new kiddy area. Dragon's fury is really spread out and is a fantastic ride! There's "Shark", now where's "Tums"? The monorail (for those of us that found it) gave a neat perspective of the park and zoo. I will not look at you or your camera! I like Barry better!! They should dunk and drown these stupid things!! So....This is where they come from! This is the last day I will ever look at rubber duckys! Professor Burps has been revamped since I was last here. 90 DEGREES!! Tommy and James getting sideways on Dragon's Fury! Coolness! The absolute biggest surprise of the trip!! Token Vampire shot Steady Dan, steady. (He still tilts the camera!) The Arrow/Vekoma suspended coaster "Vampire" has some really extensive themeing inside the queue. Ed
I think you've seen more of the UK than I have! Really good captions! I miss all the parks!
OldJJman
Continuing with Day 3 (Officially Day 1) On the way to Oakwood, Dan showed us Barry's Dutch Wonderland video! So Long Coney Beach (What a Sh*thole!!) and it's 2 credits! Ted and Catrina sharing a quiet moment, caught by TPR paparazzi! Coney Beach is TPR approved! Even if it does need a *little* TLC! Of course, they had to do some onride research as well. The TPR documentary crew is hard at work on "Nessie". It looked deadly, complete with sandbags in every seat, but it wasn't all that bad. Lou doesn't feel safe, and Dan wonders if he has a hair out of place. Got to love the themeing around Mega Blitz, a Pinfari Death Machine Robb and Elissa surprised us with a stop at Coney Beach Pleasure Park! Crossing over into Wales on our way to Oakwood (or so we thought).
OldJJman
Day 4 (Officially Day 2) A day a Oakwood. I didn't take as many pics here today, just a slow and leisurely day. Or Megafobia itself. Next up: Alton Towers Can't forget the Megafobia sheep!! Smile, my A$$! This was messed up! It just gets disturbing after awhile! The TPR welcoming party during it's preparation. Others act like Robb and just go "Plop"! We're gonna "Bop & Hop" ! A TPR takeover of thr drunken rabbit train ride! Bill getting his 100th credit on the clown coaster. Don't you just love how Lou holds the brake lever?? Cameron getting ready to go. Nicole "I refuse to look at Jeff" on the Alpine Slide I don't think I've ever seen warning signs in 4 languages. ..and, like, yeah. We're going to navigate that inversion?? OK... How come the rest of the ride is WAY over there?? Going vertical up the lifthill.. .. and it's overbanked turn. Speed is Derek approved with it's vertical loop... SPEED, and it's 97 degree drop! We got to Oakwood bright and early for ERT on....
ParkTrips
Looks like Loo handles the stick well. Also, only 2 credits at Coney... are you saying that because you didnt ride the powered or because you are being dumb and not counting it? (perhaps you forgot in old age) Not bad for a guy older than the nation he lives in!! (oh, and die.)

Reality15
Jeff! I love my buttons on Robb's site! It's great to see the UK trip from an old man's point of view, as compared to all the 20-some folks that are high off life. Keep up the awesome captions! Louise
LOL Jeff!! Look Ma, no hands! Duh, that was me and Chris being part of the "Coathter Paraaaaade!" You have waaaay too many pictures of us all having a little too much fun on a lot of the kiddie rides, that Safari thing was just... Wow. Gotta love the retarded look on my face in that Alpine Slide pic, I'm sure there was a much more flattering one than that taken too. Keep 'em coming. Awesome photos, but they just make me regret not going on the trip. I'll see some of you in Japan!
OldJJman
OK. So we left Oakwood to make the trek Alton Towers. We actually made it there quite sooner than expected. It still was late afternoon/evening. Without an internet connection for pretty much everyone, the hangout was the bar at our hotel, Splash Landings. Nice place, complete with an indoor waterpark. The late nights at the bar is where a lot of friendships were made. Even Robb showed up for the late night festivities (drinking diet coke) and many of us stayed up till 3am and later. Anywho, enjoy the pics. Fanboy alert: Pics of Elissa, Lou and "that Hoffman girl" Fangirl alert: None Gotta love silly Brittish women who wear thin white clothing to ride wet Topspins!! Next up: More of Day 2 at Alton Towers and Drayton Manor Cool! A Topspin with water!! Air, in one of its' meaningless meandering transitions. YAY!! The water around Nemesis is now Red! (Wasn't in 2002) The waterpark with people actually using it! Lou sees Richard and is enamored with what she sees! Lookie! The "other" Ozzhole finally shows up, while Clint still has that silly grin on his face! When Robb's away, Elissa will play!!! Getting their credits on Beastie was Dan, Rich (still NO signature move), Baron and "that Hoffman girl". Look tantalizing, but....not. Next up was Spinball Whizzer. Irrating music, not as good as Dragon's Fury, but, it did have a "sad and pathetic" line for me! The castle is a long ways from the main entrance! ...and they put a very well themed Vekoma Mad House, Hex inside. Cool and creepy at the same time. It's pretty big, AND it's older than me! Love the castle in the middle of the park! Whoop-de-f'n-do. Rita was ok, nothing to write home about, if fact, 3 pictures is too many. Yep. It's a launched coaster. Our ERT in the morning was on Rita. Another view. The indoor waterpark. Inside the bar. The bar as it looked when we got there, just after a small shower. Nrthwnd
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ THANKYOU for showing my 100th Coaster credit, Jeff! Very much appreciated. I was wondering if I'd ever see a pic of myself on that ruddy clown coaster, after all the talking, and pleading and general coaxing I/we had to convince the (obviously) bored ride op to let me ride and revel in my triple digits, heh heh! Great TR so far. Looking forward to more of whatcha got there, lol. And I wore the right "accessory" too, heh heh! My 100th Coaster!
OldJJman
Day 6 Started out with morning ERT on Nemesis. Afterward we boarded the coach and headed to Drayton Manor. DM was totally dead, and for a good reason. The park has become a total waste! Fanboy alert: Lou, Nicole, that "Hoffman girl" Fangirl alert: Couple of Aussies ... just a couple with some bad intestinal gas. Saw absolutely no flying dragons.... Such a nice, friendly park. Their food selection wasn't the best either! Drayton Manor can cause gender identity crisis! Casey and Dan in one of their finer moments. Looks cool. NOT! It's a sorry a$$ lift hill. I don't think anyone rode more than once! Even "Big Mike" fits in the restraints. But, they almost killed him too! Lou wonders if they'll actually open the ride. Time for G-Force at Drayton Manor. Derek: VERTICAL LOOOOOOP! Nicole: Jeff, go away! Dave: Leave me alone! Chuck: I can't believe I'm here! Some people have called this a lame first drop. SO WHAT! Everything that comes after is awesome! Ahhh..... The ride that be... Nemesis!! To get to our ERT on Nemesis, we had to go through the Alton Towers hotel. Splash Landings entrance Random themeing in front of Splash Landings
Louise
http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/amdrayton7_570.jpg ^Remember when I said I didn't mind you posting any of the terrible pictures of me you took?! I changed my mind!! LMAO at Chris poking Richard in the arse with his sword!! (Best sentence I ever typed.) Richard looks like he's REALLY enjoying it too... Oh yeah, and G-Force was one of my most anticipated new coasters of the trip. And it totally sucked.
OldJJman
continued... Daron proving that Lou's deoderant is working! "Come sail away with me!" Jeff, Ryan, Bob, Greg and the "Hoffman Girl" doing their "Deer in the Headlights" impression. Chris is happy to finally be in a picture! Cheesy ride. Would've been better if the guns and/or targets worked. (No, it wouldn't!!) It was funny when Lou got stuck! Clint: I need a booster seat! Lou: ooooh! Female friendly! Richard: ooooh! Shiny buckle! Daron: I can't feel my....
Louise
For no explicable reason I haven't really had much to say about all the previous photos but this park update brought LOADS back to me!! Sitting on that damn flat ride (I can't even for the life of me remember what it was) was hysterical, I was annoyed because of the rain (compare the straight hair in the earlier photos!) and then sitting there waiting for them to fill up the ride with irritating 13-year old prostitots who screamed just because of the No Screaming signs... Grrrr. Chris could've got us kicked out after that ride, poor unsuspecting kids. You should've explained that shortly before/after that photo was taken you decided to try and make me jump by screaming "BOO" at me, which didn't work, but made Kristie and Greg sh!t themselves! Oh, and as for what Daron and I are doing in the last photo.... I have absolute NO clue! Daron, enlighten me?! No doubt that will be another pic that Daron prints off for his boss to disapprove of. Great pics so far Jeff, I'm enjoying the reminiscing.
