CoasterFanatic
Catrina and I went to Geauga for the second weekend in a row this Saturday. Today's mission was more waterpark based than anything else. We got up nice and early to grab some prime real estate by the pool and hang out there for the better portion of the day. Here are the photos: Welcome to Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom! Here is our spot for the day. Lots of interesting things will be witnessed from this location. As you can see from this photo, there are LOTS of people here today. (Don't tell me how bad Geauga Lake is hurting, because I don't want to hear it) I think I will just sit here and enjoy a fine $6 beer. After a bit, I walked to the edge of the pool to make some new friends. "Can I have a turn?" to which I responded "Nope. Not yet!" Yeah right. Geauga Lake looks like they are really struggling. The lazy river is pretty nice. They have several play area along the route and it goes under the walkway a couple of times. One of fountains and a shot of Cedar Fair's trademarked concrete look. This is the main slide tower. There are 4 raft slides and 3 body slides. I have only rode the body slides once and they are completely insane. The orange intertube slide has to have the steepest drop of any "tube" slide. The riders fly across the water at the end. Moments before this guy did a complete face plant. Geauga Lake also has one of those cool "Funnel" slides. Catrina and I caught a ride early in the day before the 1-hour line developed! AS you can see the tube slides are pretty popular too. The old Sea World side still has couple of rides left over from the park's Six Flags days. "Thriller Bees" is another ride that is left on the "wild side". It kind of looks like a mini-Swing Around. Crazy People! Crazy! A handful of people in the play pool. Wildwater Kingdom also has one of those big "water dumpy" thingys. The other side of the wave pool has a row of Cabanas where you can live it up Celebrity style and have people bring your drinks to you. They are, however, an extra charge. Now it is time to head over to the "Ride" side of the park. After 5 or so visits to this park, it is time for me to finally get my Boomerang credit. Obligatory vertical loop photo for Derek. Steel Venom (Superman) is in about the same shape as last week. Only 4 rows on the train and .... ... the rest are just laying about. Catrina still needs the Villian credit so I took a ride to see how bad it really was. I haven't rode it in a couple years and needless to say, I love Catrina WAY too much to ask to ride this thing. It is absolutely horrible! No Dominator rides for us today, but I did stop to grab a couple of photos. Interlocking corkscrew goodness. Dominator is much different than other B&M rides due to it's high speed banked turns. Unfortunately it is also one of the "Shakier" B&M rides also. Catrina completely swore off the "Bobs" after a visit 2 years ago, but I wanted to take a ride to see if the re-tracking really did anything. The former Villian train heading to the lift. (The former Legend train was also running.) Bobs was running MUCH better than two years ago, but the G-Trains certainly take away from the experience. With a couple of PTCs, this ride would actually be pretty good in my opinion. Log Jammer It has been a long day and the crowds are still pretty crazy. We decided enough was enough and we headed to the car. On our way out, we noticed the X-Flight was having a little problem. That's got to suck! Thanks for reading everyone. Post your comments. mike541x
Cool Photo Tr. But man what a crowd.
Calvin
Being stuck on your back on the brakes on a Vekoma flying coaster sucks because you're sort of upside-down and all the blood goes to your head. I remember how on Stealth you'd have to wait on the brakes for what seemed like ages while the other train loaded and lowered and left. It sucked. Especially when it was really hot out because then you would start to sweat where the restraints were and when you got off you'd have a weird V-shaped sweat mark on your shirt. Chris Benvenuto
I went to the park in 2003, and got like 6 credits. I missed X-flight, Superman (Steel Venom) and Mind Eraser and the Boomerang. so.....I liked Sea World, I thought it wasn't that bad, and I miss it too. Rollerholden
What happened to Steel Venom? That's got to be my least favorite Intamin impulse, I like my V2 and Wicked Twister much more. As far as your coaster comments, I really agree with you! The Villain totally killed, Dominator was shakey, and I thought Raging Wolf Bobs was pretty good. It must have been hot that day! Louise
Nice pictures Ted. I love how you're totally playing up to your status as a ghey icon and posting TOPLESS pics now! I love waterparks so always like to see those. But jeez, busy much??
TheGreatOne
How were the ride side lines (specifically Big Dipper, Dominator, Villain and X-Flight)? Good to see Geauga Lake is doing well. I still miss the pre-SF days and my rides on the Tilt-A-Whirl, Sky Ride, Rocket Ships, Big Dipper and Corkscrew. -Bryan "remembers when Double Loop seemed HUGE" Wood
CoasterFanatic
^ The lines were actually pretty short considering the number of people. Most people were on the Waterpark side for the better part of the day. I totally forgot to mention Dipper! I hadn't rode it in several years and I thought it was running GREAT! pkdcoaster
Great Photo TR, Crazy how crowded it was people do some of the dumbest things at parks JEFF look at the woman on the far right WTF
kennywood!007
Wow. That crowd is horrific! I hate Villian so much, its the worst coaster I have ever been on. Looks like you had a good time even though the crowds. But I have a question. Why no Dominator?
Eagle Rider
Out of all the parks I've been to G Lake is my least favorite. None of their coasters stand out and many just plain suck. We should have gone to the water park.
CoasterFanatic
^ Big Dipper ? ^ Dominator ?
eskater132
Whoa, nice tornado slide!! most of them you have to carry your own raft, and the dark part is a turnaround or a drop! But is it not as tall as all the other ones? I WISH OURS HAD A CONVAIDER BELT!!! Cool slide part!
Eagle Rider
^ Big Dipper ? ^ Dominator ? Big Dipper was alright. My spine crunched and that was painful. I was really looking forward to Dominator, but found the headbanging too rough to enjoy much of the ride.
ECZenith
Wow, either Dominator got rough quick or I sat in good seats. When I went 2 years ago it was an awesome ride and not rough at all. I wish CF had not chosen all repeat names when they took over the park and had to lose the SF stuff... And I still think Steel Venom looks awful with red and blue... paint that b*tch yellow or something! Now onto positive stuff... Very cool waterpark TR, there aren't enough of them posted here. I see that GL has the ill funnel slide which has more slide part than my Tornado. (SFNE) That huge slide tower looks awesome and I must ride the green slide! It must have been quite a project moving it to the other side of the park. The place looks completely different from my last visit, if only there was a new coaster on the skyline. Overall, great TR. Sue
Why is Steel Venom in pieces? Has it opened at all this year? Sue

Looks like you had a good time even though the crowds. But I have a question. Why no Dominator? The crowd looked bad, but it really wasn't. We walked on most rides, or only had to wait a few minutes (including the water park early in the day). As for why we didn't ride Dominator, I think we were both a little worn out and I was basically trying to ride the coasters I haven't been on before. Nice pictures Ted. I love how you're totally playing up to your status as a ghey icon and posting TOPLESS pics now! I love waterparks so always like to see those. But jeez, busy much?? I think we've been somewhere every weekend except one since we came back from the UK! Lou, you have to help me make Ted bail on his friend's wedding so we can go to Spain! (Or I may just have to go without him!)
mcjaco
Wow, back in June there was no one there. Even Wildwater Kingdom was pretty empty. Although that was where most of the crowd was. I loved Dominator, the last section was rough though. Too fast through the turnaround a corkscrews. It was the only part where I got headbanged. Glad I got my Steel Venom credit in June! ECZenith
I'm not saying this is happening... But with Wicked Twister very closeby I wouldn't be surprised if the coaster was relocated to a park that needs it, and with all the newly managed parks there are some good possibilities. Lou, you have to help me make Ted bail on his friend's wedding so we can go to Spain! (Or I may just have to go without him!) Pfft, it's HIS friend's wedding? Since when do men care about weddings other than their own?! Bail!! But yeah, if he insists on going, just ditch him, you can be my roommate! Spain rocks, weddings don't, nuff said. ImAPrincess
I agree! And as bad as Ted snores, I'll be your roomate even if he decides to bail on the wedding (or I give the small nudge to make it not happen)
Rollerholden
Why is Steel Venom in pieces? Has it opened at all this year? Sue I can comfirm it was open when I went on July 13th. I rode it once in the back row, and it's my least favorite of the 3 Impulse coasters I've been on.
bgwfreak
Looks like the park is doing quite well for itself. I remember Borg getting stuck a la X Flight a couple times like that.
SharkTums
Wow, that waterpark looked insanely busy! I would almost give the credit to Cedar Fair (because Dorney's waterpark is one of my favorites!) but most of the slides were Six Flags doing! S:UE was always my favorite Impulse, I'm wondering why some of you posted that you don't like it? I think I've been on all of them.
CoasterFanatic
^ I would almost give the credit to Cedar Fair (because Dorney's waterpark is one of my favorites!) but most of the slides were Six Flags doing! You can give the credit to CF! They have basically shut down every "old-school" slide in the park and completely modernized it. Before the slides were scattered everywhere (much like Darien), but now they are all on the Sea World side. This has been where Cedar Fair has put it's focus over the last two years there. The entire waterpark complex has been built over the last two years.
