NYC to Tampa

Recommended Posts

Hey, can anyone tell me if there are any major attractions/theme parks on the I-95 from NYC to Tampa (excluding the obvious Florida parks)? Any parks that are like an hour or two off the freeway? Would PKD be on the way? I really have no idea about US geography! Also, what's the drive like? Is there a lot to see or is it pretty boring?

Also, does anyone know how long it takes driving from NYC to SFGADv?

And how long does it take to get from Washington DC to Busch Gardens Williamsburg?

Wow, sorry about all the questions. Thanks!

I can only really vouch for VA, but there are several parks along I-95 here. SFA is a little ways off the Capitol Beltway. PKD is just off 95, north of Richmond. Busch Gardens is about 2 and a half to 3 hours from DC, depending on traffic. However, if you get caught up in any serious traffic or construction work, that can end up being a lot longer.

Honestly, I can't tell you how much traffic to expect... but I can say that truck traffic won't be bad.

As for the drive... in between DC and Richmond, there isn't much to see. However, if you take the time to go to BGE, Williamsburg and Va Beach are both nice to visit.

Hope this is of some help.

Don't forget Pedroland Park at South of the Border (on the border of North and South Carolina).

Okay, if you're heading from NYC to Tampa, you've got plenty of options. First, there's SF Great Adventure in Jackson NJ (ocean county if you put it in Mapquest.com), which is only about a half hour off of I-95. After that, you've also got Hershey Park and Dorney Park, which are both within about 2 1/2 hours west of I-95 just south of the exit you'd take for SFGADV.

From that point, like what has already been mentioned, you've got SFA which is only about 10-15 minutes off the beltway bypass around DC. From that exit, it's about 2 hours to PKD, and another hour or so to BGE, which is actually about 40 minutes or so off the bypass (I-295) around Richmond, VA.

After that, it's another 4 1/2 to 5 hours before you reach the aforementioned PedroLand Park, located at one of America's finest roadside tourist attractions, South of the Border.

And after that, there's not much else to worry about. Of course, there's plenty of smaller parks along the way that aren't too far off the beaten path, but I was just listing the big draws for you. As far as how scenic it is...well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's a nice drive, but nothing drop dead spectacular, IMHO.

Along I-95

PKD - Right off I-95 (exit 90 I think)

BGE - It's about ah hour off of I-95 down I-64.

Myrtle Beach parks - Myrtle Beach is about an hour off of I-95. Pavilion http://www.rcdb.com/pd77.htm will be closing this year (forever) and there are two other small parks, Family Kingdom http://www.rcdb.com/pd91.htm and MB Grand Prix http://www.rcdb.com/pd213.htm .

PLEASE NOTE: Depending on when you go Myrtle Beach traffic can be VERY BAD. There's basically only one way in and out and traffic can be a mess at times.

Other than that I don't know of any.

South of the Border is the tourist trap from hell, don't stop there.
