The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^ I agree, that rust is disgusting on what's supposed to be a "World Class" ride. Although it's gotten boring, it's good if the line is short. I once rode it 9 times (7 without leaving my seat) The guys next to us said it was 14 for them.

^Here you go.

I would call it a bad photoshop job, but that is just about what it will look like.

For some reason i think "Hot Dog on a stick" Now put one of those hats on top of Superman LOL

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere on the forums however this thread looks appropriate.

I noticed whilst sipping my ice cold Coke on a Tokyo (Narita) -> Singapore (Changi) flight earlier today that Six Flags MM and Coke are doing some 2 for 1 deal. Looks like its for admission to the park.

Offer valid until the end of the year.

Might be of interest for some people..

See picture for more details as appeared on the can...

Quote from Screamscape

but the latest buzz claims that Déjà Vu from Six Flags Magic Mountain may also be on the way out.

If this actually happens, then there will be nothing to do back in Cyclone Bay. But, with Psyclone and maybe Deja Vu gone, there is quite a lot of room left over. New ride?

Deja Vu is more reliable nowadays and despite its popularity with park guests, a ride of this hourly rider capacity does not belong at a park like Magic Mountain. Very large open-circuit roller coasters are pointless because they are meant for large parks with big budgets but their low capacity is a paradox as they can't handle large crowds.

I was really disappointed when I went to SFMM two weeks ago and Deja Vu was closed all day. If they're gonna get rid of it, I hope I get a chance to ride it first! It looks friggin' intense.

They'd have to put something else in, because yeah, that section of the park was pretty useless to us without Deja running.

Yeah really. So now do they run both sides at the same time?

No. they don't and can't run both sides at the same time...not anymore, and not without causing other problems.

As for Deja, I believe that was one rumor gone bad. Sure it was on Screamscape, but the chance of all three Deja Vu's on the chopping block? Where exactly would they go instead? I'm sure some (other) park would just love to take it in! (sarcasm) moving them to other Six Flags locations would be pointless. I doubt they're going anywhere. At least just yet. If they were removed, I'm not sure that they would find a new home. Deja Vu is by far one of the better Vekoma creations and they should NOT be touched.

Psyclone was once a great ride. Unlike Colossus, you could never catch your breath. I think Ghostrider at Knott's may soon be demolished for the same reason.

I HIGHLY dought Ghostrider will be removed anytime soon, I work at Knotts and the managment seem to love it when ever there is a complaint about it (Alot from employess because of how loud it is in the backstage area and people have reported bolts droping from the ride) the management says to bad its a customer favorit and they will have matinance check it out if its a machincal problem. Also the ride isnt that rough only at night after its been running all day....

When I was at Magic Mountain (August 7th and 8th) I was surprised to see them running both sides of Superman. No, they weren't being launched at the same time, but both sides were operating for an hour or two, and then the next day, one side was open with the other testing.

After talking with a mechanic he claimed the ride still hit 90mph, but the launch really feels no faster than 80mph to me.

Are they really painting this piece of scrap metal? It just seems like a wasted of time and money. I would say tear it down and use that land for something good. Am I the only one that feels this way? The ride is definately not worth a wait of more than 10 minutes.
