Manic Monte
Â Markings are now showing up in the area behind The Riddler's Revenge and Batman The Ride for EL TORO II -- WEST COASTIN': THE RIDE. Â As much as i would love to see this happening, i think with Shapiro in charge that chance would be 0% Â Even if Burke were still in charge, the chances of an El Toro type ride in Southern California would be 0%. Â A ride like that would cost more than Tatsu with all the extra wood and reinforcements needed for earthquake safety measures.
Jew
^El Toro is said to have cost $12 million while Tatsu was $21 million. I don't think it would take an extra $9 million to get El Toro up to California code, but I am certainly no expert either.
Manic Monte
Probably not quite 9 million, but certainly enough to qualify as one of those "no more Goliath's" steel coasters that Shapiro would probably fire someone at the mere suggestion of. Â It's too bad to, because California is nearly devoid of any significant airtime, and it looks like it will stay that way...forever.
Xtreme-me
 - Small parts of Flashback have started to be taken apart...such as parts for the gear box.  AHHH..so maybe they WILL pull it down soon! I thought for sure it wouldnt be till the end of the year (November) or something!! Good deal! Glad improvements are being made!  -Ryan   they cant just "pull it down". They have to take it apart piece by piece because of its location. Its surrounded by buildings on all side and the metro. It would be to risky to just "let it fall" I wouldn't be surprised if they use a crane to take it apart. It's going to take a while.
socalMAN123
^ Basically, "pull it down" means exactly what you just said. He was using a figure of speech. Anywho, I'm glad they're finally starting to take apart that piece of crap. It looks almost as bad as Superman! ---Brent
kewlcoasterdude
Personally I think Six Flags should invest their money at other parks. SFMM is just getting to be an awful place to have fun. The amount of garbage along with the vast amount of line jumpers makes this place a dump. They should take their 2 good rides (Riddlers Revenge and Tatsu) and move them to another place. Then just auction off the other mediocre rides. It would really be the best thing for Six Flags to do. I don't see many families going there. It is unsafe for children with all the violence and language you see in that park. They are just going to end up with less profit if they continues investing there. If you are wanting to go to a fun park I suggest everyone hit up Knotts.
Xtreme-me
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. There are definitley more rides that are worth saving that Riddler's and Tatsu. X would also be good to save if the park was to be shut down, however, MM is a good park. They have some things that they need to work out but changes have come and alot of new ideas have made the park really cool looking. Also, the line jumping at MM has severely decreased compared to the years before. As far as Im conscerned, Ive had more problems with bad language, garbage and line jumpers at Disneyland than at MM. As far as being unsafe for children, I have no idea what you are talking about. The park has a very good enforcement policy for their safety standards. Granted they are lacking in a very good childrens area, but they arent concerned about that as much.

It was pretty clean, in my opinion, no line jumpers, I heard no "language" nor saw no violence, and they have a great collection of coasters that shouldn't be moved anywhere. The only problem was that the operations were kind of slow, but that was expected. In my opinion, Knotts is just a huge kiddie park with an Intamin rocket, a B&M invert, and a woodie. To tell you the truth, we got there a few hours after it opened, and had ridden everything multiple times before4:30-5:00 and ended up leaving at around 5:30 because of boredom. I would rather spend the day at a park that will keep me busy all day long, SFMM, instead of only a few hours, KBF.
kewlcoasterdude
Oh, I have waisted my money several times traveling to MM. I left feeling disappointed everytime. Just my opinion. BTW how can you count X as a ride worth saving. Its never open! I think Viper is ok. Superman should be junked and Scream speaks for is self. You might as well roll around the parking lot on a skateboard! It is about the same thing.

Just give up and take your toys elsewhere, rather than investing the time and money to fix up the place. Good thing you're NOT CEO of Six Flags. Every time things got tough you'd just sell everything and go elsewhere. You may not like SFMM (and who could blame you), but doesn't it make MORE sense to fix the problems and not cop out to the "it's a lost cause" or "just forget it" attitude that's so prevalent in our society? Â i've never been to MM, but after gaining an addiction to the TPR i do know that after the other less popular parks sold, Six Flags has been dumping that new revenue into MM to fix it up. this included the X chain lift. Â people have warned me over the past couple of years about the riff raff and poor shape of the park... but if you notice in a lot of the recent Photo TRs, the park has been remodeling, repairing, and repainting. now i cant wait to go! its even managed to win over some hope, from some of this boards MM haters. Xtreme-me
X is always open! I've been to the park twice out of about 30 times when the ride was not open. The rest of the times its always been open. Its really obnoxious that you would act that way. Everyone who has ever gone to the park with me has enjoyed it way more than knotts. Knotts is only good when you go on a day when there is no one there. If you have to wait for an eternity to go on ghostrider, its annoying. Ive been to the park on days when ghostrider has a three hour wait, Xcelerator a one hour wait and a two hour wait for Perilous plunge. Thats retarded! Its discusting and annoying that you would bash Six Flags because of one or two visits to the park that werent to your extreme satisfaction. Scream is very very fun. Yeah it doesnt have any theming of any sort but that is beside the point. Theming does not make a ride. The ride makes the ride. I could care less about theming. Scream is really fun, it doesnt have any theming but its really really fun. Your opinion is your own, but condemning the park with no valid proof is not right. Have you not been listening the last year or so? I am a themepark fan so I hope they do fix that place up. You guys are obviously from that area and you get defensive about your park so I understand. However, what I said isnt just my opinion. I don't know many people that care much for the place. I think they should take notes from BGE, CP, or Dollywood. Good luck though. Â I'm fully aware that the "new CEO in his new position" almost gave up on SFMM. The place was a mess when he got there, so I didn't blame him. But he soon learned that it would have been a grave mistake to give up all that potential revenue, and that "fixing" the park's many problems would bring the company far more revenue than it was worth losing. Â Did YOU hear the last conference call? The one where Shapiro stated that the park is up this year? And that the first quarter profit is mostly from SFMM? I'vesaid all along that fixing the problem is really better than giving up, and it looks like I was right. Â I could care less that many people do not care for the place. I was one of those people for a long time. But I never thought that you just give up because you've failed in the past. That's a horrible message. As for as taking notes, I personally like the fact that Shapiro is taking notes from parks overseas, which generally are much better and creatively run that the parks here in the states. almightyfire
I went to Magic Mountain july before last and didnt see any of the problems I hear u all talking about on here. Not one gang member, no line jumping and X was open and running all trains. I didnt see any garbage at all. "This is the best park in the world ride wise. Magic Mountain has every type of coaster made in the united states except they need an el toro there. I just left there this past May and still didnt get shot at or cursed out or no one jumped inline infront of me. Last year I went to Great Adventure and what you all have been talking about I saw there. Great Adventure was the most ragged, nasty, grafitti, broken rides and a whole lot of undeserible ghetto people who jump in line, but I never hear anyone bash them. Â MAGIC MOUNTAIN is a wonderful place and it is beautifully landscaped. It isnt a Busch Gardens but it is nice. Heck Cedar Point has no and I mean no themeing at all and everyone loves it for some reason. Maverick is the only coaster there that looks like it would turn me on. I like Nitro better than Milleniun, Alphengheist beter than Raptor, Riddler better than Mantis I could go on. Magic Mountain is also better than Kiddie Knotts Berry Farm. I went there also and it was a total waste of money. I am from Texas so I have no loyalty no any park so I am speaking on experience. Â Magic Mountain is the best place in the US and when it gets an El toro or Voyage it will be the best place on earth.
DBJ
Hi all, Â First time poster here, so thought I make it about one of my favorite. places. Â I have heard a rumor that across from SFMM one of the new businesses going in is an AMC theater. Can anyone confirm if that is indeed true? I haven't been up there in a few months. I had heard that years ago when Time Warner ran the place, they looked into creating a Citywalk style shopping center, but the deal fell through. Now with the possible AMC landing there, it looks like the first step is being taken. I hope that SFMM does play nice with their new neighbors - can only help the park in the long run. Â Now if only they could land one of those Marriott Nickelodeon hotels as a neighbor.

alexinla
I think the Mills Corporation (Ontario Mills e.t.c.) had plans there for a outlet mall/entertainment/movie center years ago, but those plans fell thru when they got into financial trouble
