robbalvey
I can see how it can appear that the car is being held at the top cause I can guarantee if the vehicle reaches those magnetic brakes at the top they are powerful enough to stall the vehicle enough that from the ground it'll look like it's being held. Â Would not be surprised if from the ground it looked like the car was being held at the top by the magnets. I'm not a f**king idiot. It was at the top of the tower most of the day when I saw it up there. It didn't *look* or *appear* like anything. It was being held at the top. It was most certainly in some kind of E-Stop mode, probably for testing, at the top of the tower. Â Stop trying to tell me I don't know what I was looking at or I don't know what I'm talking about. DJeXeL
Didn't mean it to sound like that, my apologies.
DBJ
I should mean to clarify during my experiences at the park i did see the car hang there. It's good to know that it can come to a full stop up there. Then I agree that if they can change the ride to do the stop every time, that would be amazing. That would be a truly scary experience! And i would love that.
willthethrill
I don't know about anyone else but I love talking about this ride from a technical standpoint; its just so fascinating because it was such a prolific ride and the park has never disclosed very many technical specifications about it. Regardless of who saw what or what the brakes actually do, I enjoy just listening to the (usually) professional and informed discourse. Â What I love most is that even after close to 15 years there is still no consensus on the rides issues even among enthusiasts. Cant wait to ride it at WCB. Â GLund - loved reading your post! PAL
Holding brake. Why? Â I despise the holding brake on impulse coasters, although I've only experienced it on Possessed. After slamming into the OTSR a seconde consecutive ride, I stumbled off with a headache and nausea that ended my day. Â Superman's fine with floating to a gentle stop before falling back to earth. Fire2box
It would be nice if they would expand the "DC Universe" theme from the existing Gotham all the way to Riddler/Tidal Wave. Some name changes would be in order for Tidal Wave and the Bumper Cars though. I'm still hoping/wondering if they will somehow have another pathway from Batman to Riddlers to make that whole area mesh. Granted, Tidal Wave is in the way. They could name Tidal Wave "Aquaman" or something. Â They can get rid of the Colossus County Fair sign over by the old Metro Station. Â For the bumper car's they can remove the old ones and put newer faster ones in. The one's at SFDK are about twice as fast as the ones at SFMM. When I go on bumper car's I expect them to be slightly faster then a brisk walking speed which SFMM's didn't feel like at all. I've never been so disappointed by bumper car's in my life though. Sunfire
^I've never been on SFMM's Bumper Cars, how is the "arena" or whatever you call it? Does it have an island in the middle so that you can only go one way? I've seen so many bumper car rides neutered by that.
thrillrider
There are some great pictures of magic mountains bumpercars here.... Â http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?pageid=23&linkid=6746
Sunfire
^Ahh, I should have known to check out the index. Actually, those bumper cars don't look too bad. At least you can do head on bumping, unlike the one way bumper cars...
DJeXeL
^I believe the MM bumper cars you aren't supposed to bump either
SFGAm Shock Wave
^^ Those pictures clearly show an island and a "one way" sign. Though in atleast one photo, it isn't enforced (maybe the op was on his cell phone )
SharkTums
Somewhere we have some amazing pictures of the bumper cars a few years ago at Magic during some of the 'bad times' at the park. There were holes in the floor, they were down to around five working cars, it was pretty sad yet funny to look at.
DJeXeL
2006/2007 the park was in pretty bad shape so doesn't surprise me.
Jew
^^The bumper cars were closed for about a year around 2002-2003 due to rotting wood underneath the floor (which created that hole you mentioned). Â Funny story about that: Jim Carrey held the wrap party for Bruce Almighty @ SFMM, and someone from the sales department had to show him why the bumper cars were closed for his party. He was genuinely upset they were closed and demanded to know why.
thrillrider
They probaly figured that if he could build an ark, he may be able to fix the bumper cars.

Sidra
Trying to see if anyone else remembers this or if I'm just crazy and making up this image in my head. Did SFMM used to have a live coyote back in the now gone Critter Canyon? I seem to recall from the late 80's early 90's period that I ran through the area once and thought it was crazy and sad there was a coyote (s?) back there. I can recall the mental image quite well, but I can't seem to find anything online that backs it up.
ebl
^ In that area, it's entirely possible that you saw a coyote---and it wasn't one of the park's animals... Â As for one in captivity, I don't recall them having one. They did have a full grown male lion at one time, though. Â Eric
fatdaddy
^Or maybe Wile E. Coyote.
ebl
^ Very true. Â Funny thing...both junior coasters in Bugs Bunny World will have Road Runner themes. Canyon Blaster had a Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner figure on the trains (since removed), and now we'll have Road Runner Express. And of course the soon-to-be-former Percy's Railway was once the Wile E. Coyote Coaster. Â Honestly, though, the Coyote and Road Runner make good themes for junior coasters. Â Eric
6flagsbrad
I definitely remember animals in the Wile E Coyote area. It was part of the Granny Grand Prix, you would drive over a little duck pond and go buy all the cages. I do remember specifically a coyote and a bobcat. The last time I remember seeing that was when I used to live out there in '01ish. Good times.
