CoasterKings908
I felt miserable just reading that trip report, and that's really saying something... SFMM really needs to get their act together, but I too feel like it's not going to be getting any better.... Not just SFMM! I think the whole Six Flags Corp. needs to get their act together! ebl
Tatsu is probably the slowest loading ride (well, and Riddler, too). I've seen X2 load faster and send out trains faster than Tatsu does. Eric
YoshiFan
I am not happy to hear about the 1 train operations. I really liked how Shapiro wanted multiple trains running on coasters and hearing and seeing how the new management wants to cut costs wherever possible, if they are going to run 1 train to save money on a regular basis at all the parks, that is enough to make me not want to renew my SF pass for 2012 (I already renewed for 2011). Hopefully that will not be the case.

deathbydinn
I really hope they give Apocalypse a proper sign. All they did was slap a new one over the old one, you can still see the Termination sign! I know it isn't really a huge deal, but I just like major rides to have really nice signs and entrances. It's just something that plays a role in the experience I have at said park.
XII
Wow. That sounded horrible. I haven't seen SFMM run this bad in years. Like others have said, I'm hoping that this is just an off day for SFMM. I'll just have to go next week and see for myself.
boywholaughed
I think that Six Flags really only cares about reeling in that dough from GL, Krypton, and MAYBE Little Flash.
TheCoasterGuy
Every single complaint mentioned by Robb, as well as many others, are exactly what I experienced during my first full year in the park during the 2009 season. That prompted me to write an 8-page letter to Mark Shapiro, which then led to a personal meeting with Jay Thomas to discuss. I refused to visit the park in 2010. I wanted to give them a full year to make good on all of the changes that Jay said were coming. I have my 2011 season pass in hand and I even started a new blog to document this upcoming year in the park, put reports like this aren't making me very optimistic. It sounds like it's going to be more of the same, or maybe even worse.
ebl
Agreed...the new Apocalypse sign looks pathetic. It really looks like "Quick Fix---The Ride." Hopefully a better one is on its way. Eric
Ryan King
With Six Flags Magic Mountain being how it was today, do you think that the "new" SFMM is worse than the "new" SFMM that was the Thomas/Shapiro era. I'm probably going to get in trouble for saying this, but I believe in speaking my mind and being honest... I feel that almost everything that was done during the Shapiro days to improve the park has been almost undone. The park looked and "felt" today the worst I've seen it in years... I agree 100%. The park really felt "off" today in general. Park employees weren't nearly as friendly and the ride operations were a huge disapointment. Some people may think we are being too nit-picky about pointing out the faults in the park, but honestly, all of these "faults" are in plain sight of the general public. Signs pointing to rides that no longer exist and puke dribbling on the outside of garbage cans. It was horrifying. Bethany is here from England, never been to Magic Mountain before, and the park doesn't even have their two premire attractions open for park opening. It was just so....sad. The park has lost its shine. I really saw it going uphill, making a huge difference. This time around, the park was the worst its been in a long time. What a shame. -Ryan
ebl
Where SFMM was normally been pretty clean over the last couple of years, I've noticed on my last few visits that trash hasn't been picked up as diligently as it has been. Neal Thurman is still out occasionally, but it takes more than just him to make a difference. Eric
boywholaughed
Why would they still leave "The Ride" below it!? Six Flags, you are getting dissapointing. I don't want to go back to Disney and Cedar Fair, don't ruin my last hope for actually good amusement in this world! Yes, I was dead serious. Oh, I'm into acting and that pre-show, though very cheasy, wasn't that bad! That line "Aim and shoot" shouldn't be in there though.

Hopefully a better one is on its way. Eric Ya know, the re-theme really wasn't that awful. They took down the old signage, replaced it with new signs and re-did the preshow. The Original Terminator show wasn't A+ material either... "You at Six Flags Magic Mountain!" It was just as bad. The new theme is about a post-nuclear war, and now that all laws have been abolished, everyone is out to take advantage of a free world. It was a decent story..and it could have been A LOT worse, coming from Magic Mountain. Edited January 10, 2011 by robbalvey

robbalvey
Why would they still leave "The Ride" below it!? See, but now you're just getting too nitpicky. Why does "Batman" have "the ride" under it? Why does Superman need to have "the escape." Leaving "the ride" isn't a big deal at all. The fact that we were made to watch a 6 minute pre-show while empty trains were running around the track... THAT is a big deal. Let's hope that SFMM can fix the things that really matter first and not focus on pointless nit picks. --Robb Edited January 10, 2011 by robbalvey
Bolliger&Mabillard
Lower the admission to $49, RAISE the SP price to $189 (or more). It will generate more money over the length over a whole season. With not one single park in the Southern California market charging this much for a pass (An entry-level Disney passport is less than that), I wish them the best of luck moving units at that price. I don't think it's the gate price that the park needs to adjust to make improvements. Trying to improve the overall quality of the park and sustain it over the course of more than just one leadership change is imperative. I think that has to happen before any type of dramatic price change can happen.

Why is it that MM can sell tickets online for 30 dollars...and 60 at the park? They can afford to lower gate admissions down to 49, and raise the Annual Passes. Termy is Apocalypse Now ( ) [sorry thats a 2pac joke] But I really see your point, it's just little things that don't matter in the short run, though should be addressed. guests SHOULD be allowed to walk straight to the loading station. This video someone uploaded from SFGam begs to differ: http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Superman_crew_app5 The S:UF crew at SFOG on my visit in 2009 was running two trains with virtually no stacking. What gets me with Tatsu is IIRC, the park has said it takes about 14 weeks to rehab one of its trains, which means it takes 42 weeks out of 52 if you only rehab one at a time, so why did the park not just go ahead and order 4 so you can make sure you always have at least two ready for operation? The fact that we were made to watch a 6 minute pre-show while empty trains were running around the track... I couldn't watch the entire pre-show video you posted, it was just awful. The end bit where they are running through the coaster fighting and such was pretty fun, they should just do that. Put some fog machines all throughout the park, shoot 30-40 minutes worth of Apocalyptic fighting, (So hopefully you don't see the same stuff twice,) and make those rooms part of the queue. The majority of the time they crew would clear the train before the last train made it back to the brake run. With Tatsu being one of the longer flyers, there is just no excuse for why it takes so long to unload/load/dispatch. --Robb
John Knotts
If they are smart, adding Green Lantern would be the perfect opportunity to spruce up that area, and add a few small rides and other things to do, along with the new coaster. That seems to be a pretty large area marked off, and it's something the park did when Batman opened. Otherwise, what a waste of time for people waiting for family members to ride a coaster that's going to have BIG TIME waits. Under promise and over deliver, an old saying this park really needs on the doors of the front office. I think it's HORRIBLE that smaller kids have to stand around while the big kids circle the park basically running from coaster to coaster. EDIT: I'm sorry, that pre-show video is so bad it's hilarious! Is it the worst thing in the world to just let the GCI speak for itself?
