AGLOIATHPENGUIN123
supposedly the new man in charge of SFI is mixing things up and changing plans for 2011. Â Its killing me to know if there still doing the Big 2011 Project.
alexinla
Its killing me to know if there still doing the Big 2011 Project. Â Probably, it is the 50th Anniversary of Six Flags. Golden Marketing opportunity, the new management is probably just mixing it around a little Should be interesting.. What it means for SFMM, I have no idea. Mr Six Dancing Coaster for next year and nothing else would kinda be missing the point
haiderodes
^It actually did, it basically added the additional flavor syrup (peach, strawberry, grape, raspberry, etc) to the original soda's syrup (Sprite, Vault, Coke, Minute Maid, etc) when it dispensed the drink. That's how they get so many different flavor combinations in the one machine. And to prevent re-fills would be pretty easy, just have it near the cash register and have them keep an eye out, it won't stop everyone, but it's not way off in the corner like how DCA had it. I'm also glad these are catching on, I loved me some Peach Sprite! Â I meant it didnt allow you to isolate those syrups and mix into any individual drink. The flavor of the drink was spelled out for you already. You couldn't have a Vanilla Lime Diet Coke with Extra Vanilla.

DBJ
What's odd about SFMM now is that they have made two odd choices back to back. First, the Dance coaster which cost some money to transport and do basic ground prep. So for the summer season, a barren lot. Second, Mr. Six Splash Island - um, why? Not needed, and keeps the attraction almost the same. So bland they don't even advertise it. Why not a Proslide Rocket so they could have a water coaster like Deluge? Out of everything out there that's available to expand HH, they chose "Splash Island". It really looks like their focus on "family" attractions has not worked out at SFMM. Or should I clarify, their chocies of what makes for attendence boosting family attractions has left a lot to be desired. Â I don't think I've even seen ads for the new shows they have at SFMM. If I didn't check the website today, I doubt I would have even known they were running. Any reviews of Slambang yet or the Daredevils show? fatdaddy
I'm wondering if they are gonna can the whole Mr. Six thing altogether, maybe that was the issue with the coaster. Since it appears they are moving away from him in advertising.

daveydo5172
Its official, CHANG is going to Great Adventure instead.....I seriously think that MR Six's coaster is gonna go to another park instead...as I said in my last post...the new top guy wants to change things up that were planned for next year! Jew
Second, Mr. Six Splash Island - um, why? Not needed, and keeps the attraction almost the same. So bland they don't even advertise it. Â I actually think it is going to be a GREAT addition to the park. Kids areas at waterparks are always packed. Not everything a park does has to be advertised to get a return on their investment. This is going to be a great supplemental addition the park.
gforce532
Okay I was at the mountian today and here is a few notes some might be interested in. - one of revolution's trains has a new decal on if for the new "Grown Ups" movie coming out. - were running 2 trains on riddler with no train on the transfer. - and the terminator and goliath operators were great today, whereas tatsu's were abnormally slow. But got on every coaster and water ride with rerides on x2, termy, tatsu, and goliath. pretty moderate crowds dispite alot of kids being out of school now. I was actually with a friend of mind from school who had not been to the park since 1993. And even then he was too short to ride anything, so this was his first real experience of the park. Not bad for a first time visit in over 17 years, just to be able to get on everything thanks to going with a coaster nerd like myself.
MagiMountainMan
Is SF going to put advertisements on everything? Maybe its their way to pull out of bankruptcy but I find it to be annoying and eventually its going to get out of control. Hell how long before they stop trains on the MCBR and make you watch a commercial for stride gum or some stupid hair gel before you finish the ride? Annoying if you ask me
Sir Clinksalot
I agree with Joey about Mr. Six. Â Sure, for most of us it's not what we would have wanted, and personally, my kids are out of that age-range ... but the previous kids area was there since the park opened and it was looking a little worn down. Â I can't imagine that kids area cost anywhere close to a proslide or other major addition.

DBJ
It's not really about whether or not if Mr. Six Splash Island is a quality attraction or not, it's about the impact of what it does for the park for capita spending and park attendance. Every kids addition they have added to SFMM in recent memory has not improved the bottom line. It's insanity to keep repeating this pattern. Step 1.) Build a modest kids attraction on the cheap side. Step 2.) Don't advertise it. Step 3.) Wonder why the kids demo didn't dramatically increase. Step 4.) Attendance stagnants, if not falls. Step 5.) Back to Step 1, hope for a different result next time. Going the cheap route with the kids attractions isn't working for the park. Â I agree that Masterblasters and Rockets clearly would cost more money than Splash Island. Consider though that if SFMM did go with one of the watercoasters they would would have the only one in the region. That is a huge selling point that would have made HH stand out in a crowded marketplace. The primary waterpark competition is Raging Waters and guess what, they have "Splash Island Adventure". Also a kids area, but larger. So SF basically installed a lesser version of what has previously existed in the marketplace, with a slightly different name. Â Kind of like the Mr. Six Dance coaster is it not? Â To me, I don't think it was a wise choice to go this route, and only hope the new management can move future attractions for kids in a better direction. Â To end on a positive note about the park, the food choices continue to improve with TCBY, and Studio 6F was a good decision.

I haven't taken my kids to Hurricane Harbor, and this new Mr Six Splash Island addition looks terribly lame and isn't going to get us into the park either.  A master blaster? You betcha! djbrcace1234
I also agree with the above when the coaster may be held back until 2011 for the 50th, as part of a celebration. Maybe American Adventures' Ridgeline Racer (it is buffalo themed - so SFMM will get El Toro!) will also find a home at SFMM in 2011, joined by the previously rumored 2011 adult coaster. A 3 coaster install, one for each age group, for the anniversay sounds like a good marketable promotion.   Think what Disneyland did for thier 50th, They revamped Space mountian, promoted new parades, attractions, and made a big deal out of it. I think this move is a planned move to make some sort of market ad as it is.

As Gregg mentioned, that play area hadn't been touched since the park opened. It must have been at least 5 years since they even added that second kids area with the small slide tower. I really don't think this had anything to do with the whole "family plan." I think it was simply intended to be an upgrade to improve the overall experience of the park. I can tell you from visiting waterparks this past summer with Robb, Elissa, and Kristen...a nice kids area makes a HUGE difference in the experience for both the toddler stuck in just that area and the parent left behind to watch the kid. I can also tell you that a happy parent is much more inclined to spend money on food/drink/souvenirs, so this upgrade is sure to have a lasting impact without it having cost the company a fortune. Â I compare this to something USH upgrading the trams to have larger HD monitors. It's not something they were able to market, but the positive impact it has on the guest experience still makes it worth the investment. Which IMO rules out the "they can't market the Metro so its not worth the investment" argument in a way. I know its a bit different, as it would cost more than a Mr. Six Splash Island or HDTV upgrade, but I still think the ends would justify the means. I mean, they dumped money on a Thomas Town nobody uses, I think investing in the Metro instead really would have made more sense.  Perhaps then the types of customers you're mentioning (parents) would be more inclined to spend more money if they could at least have one way to travel around the park, without having to haul the family (teens, etc.) the entire way. It would change the entire perspective of the park, an attraction to relax and rest on. Because even for the young adults, its a fair amount of exercise to round the park!
