The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I go to Goliath and knock out every ride on that end of the park as I mentioned (Goliath, Scream, Colossus, Batman, Tidal Wave (if it is open ) Riddler's, Goldrusher). It's like a precise sequence one after the other. Then you'll gradually make your way up to where you can ride Superman and Ninja. Then head back down to Deja Vu and Terminator.

Then I just worry about riding X2 and Tatsu. Revolution and Viper are never a problem (for me) when it comes to lines throughout the day. Though I usually ride Viper last. After waiting a hour or two for X2 usually I get off and there's about 20 minutes before the park is closed so I just go to Viper and ride a couple of times.

This sounds like a nice way to get some morning re-rides !

My only concern is that I personally have to pick up my flash pass at the entrance between 11:00 and 12:00 , so I'd have to run back to the back of the park , get some rides , and then run back to be in time for my flash pass..

Though that would be totaly worth it if it would get me a 100% ride count for sfmm in one visit!

BTW, I'd think I'll start off with 2 riddler , and 2 batman re-rides and save goliath for the flash pass...

^^^ I really don't think Batman is worth riding twice or Riddler's Revenge though the window is open to do those things without worrying about lines. I wouldn't do it personally...but then again I've rode them many times lol. I also wouldn't waste the flash pass on Goliath ( I don't know whether it is a waste (as in whether you get a limit or not--I never used them before), but its just because I have the opportunity to ride it many times at no cost first thing in the morning.

The last time I went to the park I followed what I did above. I rode Goliath 2 times to start. Then I went to Scream and rode it 3 times. Then Colossus and rode that once. Followed by Batman and Riddlers. I rode Riddlers twice (which gave my a headache -- I don't really like the ride to be honest, just the song they play by Sash!--Ecuador Bruce Wayne mix lol).

Was burnt out after that....because it can really get hot here especially in the summer...so I went on Tidal Wave and then I stood on the bridge and got soaked. After that I chilled for like 30 minutes and then went on Goldrusher and then up the long upward path to Superman and Ninja.

When I did this little sequence I finished riding everything from Goliath to Deja Vu prior to noon, 1 PM.

Though I didn't ride any of the flat rides so I don't factor them in.

I know I digressed and didn't really answer your post... perhaps try something like start with Deja Vu and Terminator first (go to the very back of the park . Then work your way down to Goliath (the opposite of what I do). I guess you could leave the cluster (Superman, Tatsu, and Ninja) for when you ride Tatsu whenever that is.

But you should be able to get multiple rides on a couple of those rides (Deja Vu, Terminator, Goldrusher, Batman, Riddlers, Scream, Colossus) by 1130 AM and then you don't really have to worry about going back to that end of the park...pick up your flash pass, head back to Goliath then maybe gravitate toward Revolution, X2, Viper, and then up to where they have the rapids/Tatsu/Ninja/Superman.

It is definitely possible to ride every ride if you can get to the park early and knock out the rides that will have no attendance for the first hour of operation.

Just whatever you do try to limit the amount of walking that you do. The park is huge and can be tiresome. I suggest google for the SFMM map and plan with it. As in the direction you'll take going from ride to ride.

Good luck. All this talking about this makes me really want to go back to Six Flags MM sometime.

^ Thanks for all the advices !

The big reason why I'm so keen on getting to x2 first is because you need to pay to use a flash on it , and as the flash pass has no limit , I was thinking of using it later on.

As it would obviously not be smart to stand 2 hours in line for x2 when I could also run for it first thing in the morning.

( I've got the stamina to go very , very fast so that shouldn't be a problem )

Though afterwards I'd now probably go straigth to terminator/batman/riddler/goliath , and then pickup my flash.

Just confirming , but is the service centre at the entrance really the only place I can pick it up ?

Yet again , thanks for the advice , and I think I'm really going to enjoy my first sfmm visit !

Thats strange they would just take out the cop car. I know GAdv did that in 2004 when the ride was painted yellow because the GM thought it looked bad, and SFGAm's junkyard was cleaned up and graffiti painted over that same year (also painted yellow that year) but the cop car was spared. They even copied that idea with the pickup trucked crash into a pile of dirt/cactus in Terminators line so unless they are trying to make it look like they didnt do the same thing twice I dont see why they would take it out. Or there was something wrong with it we dont know about.

^Are you telling me the cop car broke down? It probably over heated!

I wouldn't mind seeing a new color on Batman The Ride (All Black!) but please not yellow!

Maybe the car needed an oil change!!

In all seriousness though, I would love to see Batman repainted all black, but paint it a flat black rather than a gloss black, that would be super sexy!!

I thought the Batman car became the car with the Skynet symbol in the Terminator line.

Upon further investigation Terminator has a pickup truck, a jeep, and a huge bulldozer thing. None of them look like the cop car.

The Jeep and the tow truck are props from the set of the movie.

The destroyed truck while in line and the Ford Exploder (hehe... never thought I'd use that one literally) are actually old park vehicles... the truck was a maintenance truck that the mechanics used to roll around in. The Ford Exploder was used by either first aid or security at one point.

I think it's rather ingenious that Magic Mountain basically turned it's trashed vehicle fleet into theming for a new coaster. Saves them money, I guess.

Anyhow, I noticed that Batman is now sans cop car... I don't really miss it, however. What Batman really needs is a fresh coat of paint (I like the flat black idea) and for some of the theming elements to be restored (fan in tunnel, Batsuit lighting up, lighting in station... stuff like that).

Sincerely,

R.C.

Lets not forget about the mist in low spots of the ride! It was mentioned at West Coast Bash that they thought about bringing that back. The weather is perfect for it right now!

This is just random speculation here, but does anyone think that SFMM could be getting a drop tower next year similar to Acrophobia? The reason I say this is that:

1) Management said that they were working with Intamin

2) They also said that there would be a focus on flats next year

3) They also said that they wanted to add a drop tower that distances itself from KBF's and DCA's

Was that said at WCB this year because if it was then I totally missed it. Let me know if I'm the only one who missed that juicy detail...
