sharwoo
^Stacking trains is allowing a train to stop in a designated area of the ride outside of te station (usually a block behind the station) due to the station being occupied by another train. oh yes , Is scream normally efficient enough that this never happens ? PeoplemoverMatt
So yeah, the rest of the park operation was great, but it only took one ride to taint my friend's perception of the park. This is true of pretty much any business in the service industry. Negative experiences can override several positive ones, just like how customers with a positive impression of a business may tell 1 person about it, but customers with a negative impression will tell 4-5 people about it. It just goes to show how important it is for each & every employee to always be at their very best, and that every guest interaction is an important one. SFMM162op
When it comes to SCREAM! please go to Guest Relations and let us know so we can inform the supervisor for that ride and also park management so these situations can be taken care of. It is really sad to hear this about my old ride, last year we made sure it was always clean and that are trains were always leaving the station in a reasonable amount of time. nightsgt
On the topic of Scream, I think the ride is in serious need of the Bizarro treatment. Signs are all hideously faded, the line is bare and uninteresting, and like it has been stated in the past, the whole moniker is seriously lame. ethans_dad06
^Well it has been said by management at West Coast Bash that scream was on their to-do-list, and I think that it definatley needs a rehab as well. Now personally I think they should add on board audio, pull out parking lot underneath, trench around the supports and fill with water, and then add some tunnels and light effects then you have a great experience to a great ride. I also think that might be in he cards for next year since it isnt going to be a major attraction year.
haiderodes
^Or they could just paint it? I mean its a solid ride. If it was in any other park I'm sure it would be a star attraction. The location and the fact there are so many other large coasters at the park, kinda keeps it in the shadow. I just don't think EVERY ride needs to have fire, audio, etc. But some paint and rehab of the general area would be nice.
FeelTheFORCE
I also think that might be in he cards for next year since it isnt going to be a major attraction year. Hasn't a new coaster already been confirmed for next year? I doubt they'd do both in one year, assuming we're talking about an X2/Bizarro-caliber makeover for Scream, and not just simply a paint job and some landscaping. Bolliger&Mabillard
I just don't think EVERY ride needs to have fire, audio, etc. Seriously. There are other visual effects than pyrotechnics. How about a lazer or water jet every now and then?

Well I never said anything about fire, I did however say water which I think would create a dramatic effect for a floorless coaster. And whats wrong with having another ride with audio? It seems like it is a very popular thing to have on a coaster and in my opinion makes it an experience, not just a ride. And your right, it IS a solid ride and would be a star attraction in a smaller park, but it isnt in a smaller park so it needs that extra touch in my opinion to bring it out of the shadow. The old management of Magic Mountain would have just painted it and called it a day, and if the new Magic Mountain does the same I would be highly dissapointed, because they arent fixing the old scars, but just trying to cover them up, and that is a half a$$ed way of running a buisness. Whats wrong with going above and beyond? Thats what Disney does and it seems to work pretty well for them.
atem122
I'm just wondering if sfmm could be able to pull off another X change, or if the GP would finally catch on
X2coasterfreak
It would be really cool if they transformed Scream! into Bizzaro. But yeah I agree that every new ride now has to have on board audio, mist, and fire. I mean even Terminator, really does a new ride need that? I really do not like that. Anyway Scream! really needs to get refurbished at some point now. It really is starting to get painful
atem122
I've got a question. Does anyone else get bored towards the end of the day at Magic Mountain? Like I hear about these people that go twice every month, and I just don't know how they wouldnt get bored of it. IMO most of the rides have a low re ride value, I still love the place to death though

atem122
^Yeah, but it seems to happen more with sfmm, I mean Disney rides have much higher of a re ride value since there's always something new to find, and I even thought riding the silver bullet at knott's never got old. However I havent been to knott's since I've been a total dork enthusiast so I'm betting my opinion would change
rcroques
On the topic of Scream, I think the ride is in serious need of the Bizarro treatment. Signs are all hideously faded, the line is bare and uninteresting, and like it has been stated in the past, the whole moniker is seriously lame. Agreed. I was actually talking to my buddy about the idea that another enthusiast had about turning the whole Colossus - Goliath - Scream area into a "Land Of The Titans". We came up with the idea that Scream! should be named Leviathan and should include a lagoon in the middle underneath the helix, water features, and rockwork. Also, possibly tunnel a portion of the ride and have plexiglass in between the rockwork... shoot a jet of water in between the plexiglass and then put colored lights behind it that sweep and move. I think that would look pretty cool, especially with the fact that the ever-changing pattern of the water would distort the lights a bit. As it is, I believe that the ride is themed after Los Angeles traffic (hence the parking lot). Traffic makes people want to SCREAM! I mean, it is built over a parking lot after all. Sincerely, R.C. rba13
So how will the bankruptcy today play in new rides and attractions?
CreditCrazy
^^ That's a great idea and it'd be very cool to see. Scream! doesn't need audio and fire, I'd just like to see it look nice withat least something...not even effects, although the water/fountain/pond idea would be awesome. I don't expect this to happen though. I'd think the most Scream! would get would be maybe a re-paint and grass underneath it. Even that I would love to see. rawrtotheargh
Colossus is built over asphalt but yet no one seems to ever say it is parking lot the ride. If you look there are even stalls painted in. I am not sure if it was for parking but i can tell you that it in fact looks like a parking lot.
ebl
^ Colossus was indeed built over a section of the parking lot, making it SFMM's very first parking lot coaster. No one seemed to mind, but then, Colossus was such an intense ride at the time that no one could mind. Eric
SuperMikeo
Yeah - wooden coasters sitting on concrete are way less offensive than a ride like Scream, especially when Scream's twin (Medusa) was so purdy. In fact, I think they should rename Scream "Medusa," paint it that granny-apple green, put in some grass. Ahhhh. Nothing bizarre about that. Whoever had that "land of the titans" idea - that would totally work. And speaking of Titans, they should give Goliath the version 1.5 upgrade and get that extra helix. Gotta love Six Flags. They theme the hell outta their GCI woodie while a big ole' B&M floorless coaster is sitting on a parking lot. The ONE ride where theming truly doesn't matter...has fire and a soundtrack (yeah, yeah, I know that Scream was old management, so get your finger away from the "quote" button). My last trip to SFMM rocked, BTW. Want a way to measure the new management's success? Here you go: SFMM Now > SFMM 3 years ago. By a million. Manic Monte
So how will the bankruptcy today play in new rides and attractions? It's probably as wait and see thing. But I suspect that at least for SFMM, the 2010 plans have already been finalized.
ebl
"...get your finger away from the 'quote' button)." (SuperMikeo) I tried pushing that button with my finger. Didn't work so well... Seriously, I'm going to give management time to get things together. What was done at the park over the many years of questionable management cannot be fixed with the snap of a finger. In fact, I think for every year of poor planning, etc., I'd give more than that for a fix. The park will evolve. But in the meantime, it's still a fun place to go. ethans_dad06
^ I agree with you when you say for every bad year of the old management, it will take atleast 1.5 years to reverse. They have made huge improvements the last few years and I have no doubt they will keep going as they have been. As far as the chapter 11, nothing will be done till everything is settled in court unless it has already been funded, then it will just be buisness as usual. I have a feeling they are going to emerge out of this in a few months and be stronger than ever.
Manic Monte
^ I'm sure Shapiro knew this time was coming and planned ahead as much as possible. I'd be willing to bet any capitol ex for 2010 has already been planned out and paid for in advance.
stuartnz
I'm looking forward to my SFMM trip in about 3 weeks. Last time I went, I was 12, fresh out of Disneyland, and I honestly thought the park was several levels of amazing. I'm keen to see an improved version of that. Although I guess when I was 12 I wasn't jaded by the internet telling me how terrible Six Flags is
