On Saturday 11/21, Theme Park Review was invited to see the Six Flags Magic Mountain Holiday in the Park Drive-thru Experience. It’s rare for park patrons to get to drive through a theme park, so this

^ One of the most unique displays was the last video you posted JT. You stopped recording too soon. It's 3D and the moose is shooting snowballs at the mice climbing up the FT bar wall. I guess it's a tribute to the old Mooseburger Lodge that used to be in that building. The display is quite unique and entertaining.

yeah, i saw some of it while walking up. then, when i made the video, it wasn't doing too much. if i go again, i'll get a better video. it's definitely pretty cool.

got a couple pic of revolution. it was dark and all i could see that was different was the train wasn't in the station anymore.

Is there any word of when New Revolution is expected to open? Just wondering for the trip I'm planning in late April! I would love to ride it, it would be my first Schwarzkopf (I was foiled by "no single riders" on other I had a chance to ride)

They are currently aiming for a March opening so you just might be in luck!

Thinking about maybe doing a quick visit this coming Sunday. Think the park will be busy?

i went on sunday the 29th late in the day. it was pretty dead. the parking lot didn't look like if ever was that crowded. the parking didn't seem like it ever got that crowded. just into the section past the picnic area. it was a very cold day though.

Haven't gone here in years and I really want to visit. When do you guys suggest the best day would be? I wanted to avoid weekends but i guess the parks only open on weekends, and the two weeks for break.

If weekends are your only option, always choose Sunday. Get there in the morning, and head to twisted colossus and the back of the park first. No matter what day it is, I've always found that it takes people forever to make it to the back in the morning, so you can get half the park done rather quickly.

Finally it seems that SFMM was way ahead of the game and now all major parks... Disney... Universal....SeaWorld ... are all in a rush to install metal detectors. Seems that Disney's will be random until they "randomly select" 10 bravos in a row and then the poop will hit the fan. At Disney’s theme parks, guests will walk through bag check first and some in line will be “randomly selected” to walk through a secondary magnetomator portal before proceeding into the park.

Anyone have a guess on what will be the lightest day to go?

Sunday, 12/27

OR

Wednesday, 12/30

Even though most people are off that last week of December, my guess would still be Weds being the lighter day between the two. Thoughts? Help?

Both of those days will be bad...it's winter break for almost every school.

^So far the crowds have been pretty mild and all schools are out now. Parking hasn't once come close to filing all three sections of the main lot yet so crowds have been manageable. Last year was the same way, Saturday will be crowded, but that's about it.

I visited the park for the first time in a couple years last week, and had a question that I thought someone on here might be able to answer. Is there a reason that Goliath comes to a complete stop on it's mid-course brake section? I assumed it has something to do related to holding for the train to leave the station or something, but it didn't look like that was the case. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Oh, also TC is amazing, I now cannot wait for Joker at Discovery Kingdom (my local park).

^It's to reduce the G-Forces exerted on riders in the helix.

Correct because someone died from a brain aneurysm (pre-existing condition) on Goliath in 2001.. As far as it coming to a complete stop, I don't know the answer. I'm not going to act like I'm a ride op or engineer

I do know Titan's MCBR was slowed down drastically after that incident. I remember when I rode it opening year we would fly through the MCBR, later that summer it was always a complete stop and slow crawl out of the break run.

But does that require coming to a complete stop and just sitting there? I get the need for the brakes, but a complete stop (and wait) seems excessive.

I agree with you that a complete stop is not necessary but that's the way the ride was reprogrammed. I've never really been a fan of Goliath so really matters little to me.
