Apocalypse went down to a station wait now

Viper, Revolution, and Goliath are all closed today btw.

Apoc was running 1 train Friday and Tuesday when I went. Revolution was closed Tuesday also. I saw a mechanic walking away from the ride with a box that looked like an outlet plug cover early in the day Tues. Goliath has been closed since end of March.

I'm pretty sure the squeal was explained some pages back with a photo.

If that's the case, do you mind quoting it so we don't have to go searching?

Regarding Revolution, I know a popular SFMM blogger had his ear torn while riding it last week, not sure if that has something to do with it being closed. Maybe it's at that point where they're running into potential lawsuits by keeping it open and will be forced to get new trains.

it was open Monday. i took the shortcut thru the top of the path down passed the exit as i admired the horrible dirty conditions behind the station. lol

Paint issue?

I noticed that noise on Friday before the high 5. I didn't hear it Tuesday though.

My guess is that the curvature of the track is too high for the train: it's just like Amtrak squealing when it goes into a curve. But why it would jam to a stop in that first turn is unknown to me. Maybe they can send it out slower and have it ramp up to normal speed outside of the turn?

A lot of the time the squeaking noises are what make the coaster so smooth; RMC's have springs on their wheel assemblies that push the wheels onto the track at all times, and they can be a bit noisy.
I'm pretty sure the squeal was explained some pages back with a photo.
It's the shocks in the wheel assemblies. This is what makes the ride feel so smooth. If you notice on all RMC coasters with RMC trains, they always make a squeaking sound going through airtimes hills or really tight turns. This is the shocks keeping the wheels in contact with the track at all times.

Went 10 pages back, didn't see any photo or explanation besides the shock springs consideration. Not saying your wrong, just saying I haven't seen it nor have we gotten an explanation if other RMC's are like this.

squeal to me is just flat nylon or poly wheels on flat steel track. maybe even steel wheels on the flat track. (alan shilke said that wicked cyclone is currently running all three types of wheels) now, whether or not the noise matters at all is another story. unless someone from RMC gives us their opinion, not sure we'll ever know. but, i'm guessing it doesn't matter one bit.

Arrived this morning with my new gold membership printout in hand. The metal detectors opened at 9am. I immediately went to the annual pass office and was the only one there. With new card in hand, I walked to the gate and was 20th in line on the gold pass entry. At 9:35, I literally ran to TC. Out of about 100 people, I came in second which was an achievement for a 45-year-old old fart like myself. I learned that your position on the gold pass front gate line doesn't matter. All that matters is how fast you can run. Reminded of the old saying... if you and your buddy are being chased by a bear, you don't have to run faster than the bear. You just have to run faster than your buddy. lol.

So our "9:30 ERT" turned out to be 10:10 ERT because that's when the first TC train was dispatched. I was in the second seat and I had a ball.

I jogged to YOLO and rode it twice before the general admission crowd was let in and made the line too long. And to confirm, I asked if they offer single rider, and they said no.

Then my Drop of Doom marathon began. I rode it about 25 times today using the single rider line. I love this ride. It is very relaxing once you learn not to fight it. Just surrender and enjoy the fall. As someone mentioned, the value of the single rider line depends on the skill of the queue manager. In the morning, I got to ride every five minutes or so, but later, I only got to ride every 10-15 minutes because Mia the queue manager kicked ass! She was a master of filling the ride without needing single riders.

I witnessed a group of 4 customers being escorted by an employee to the front of the line. They each paid $300 for the VIP treatment. I asked him if it worth it. They said it definitely was. I asked if they can ride rides over and over again. They said they can only ride each ride twice in a row. In that sense, it is very similar to a platinum flash pass.

I rode Riddler 4 times in a row using the single rider line. I will never use the regular line again. One of the ride workers was very talkative. He told me that people vomit on this ride on a regular basis because they don't drink enough fluids during their visit. I actually rode 2 rides in a row by running from the exit back to the single rider entrance and making it on time. The employee was smiling when he saw me do this.

At 4pm, I rode TC again. The line was only 30 minutes long. A woman entered the line with me. After 20 minutes, she tried to let her kids cut the line in front of her. I don't tolerate when people do this, so before her kids showed up, I asked her if I could go in front of her. She said yes with a confused look on her face. I was laughing inside. She actually had the balls to ask a ride worker named Kevin if her kids could join her because "they just had to use the bathroom". Kevin politely refused her request. A moment later, I whispered to Kevin that she indeed lied to him and I thanked him for not letting her kids cut the line. I would had tipped him $5, but all I had was my discover card because I wanted to carry as few things as possible.

I chatted with a guy who bought the season meal plan. He told me it is an amazing deal for him because he lives within walking distance of the park. He could literally get lunch, dinner, and a snack 365 days a year for just $100 per year. That's about 10 cents per meal. He says he sometimes comes to the park just to eat and then he leaves. EDIT: MM is not open 365 days a year. My bad.

I drove back to the Fresno area quite tired from sprinting in the morning. I am going to use this gold membership A LOT.

Get rid of the OTSR! I hit my head a few times on them.

what's sad is, i pretty much witness line jumping at least once every time i go to magic mountain, including my one and only ride of the day Monday, TC.

i wish there was something more than a sign saying what they'd do about it.

25 times? Awesome. I use the single rider line on that all the time.

And maybe the throwing up on Riddler's is the fact that it is no longer smooth like it used to be. It is rough now and I hit my head on it the last time I was on it.

I saw someone hop the fence to avoid the whole lower queue of Tatsu Tuesday, where you walk under the track coming from ninja. The employee who holds up the line below and tells you to go up was looking in that direction after I looked at her after the guy jumped and she did nothing.

I am getting good at what I like to call "line cutting avenging". When a group of people try to cut me to join their friends who are just ahead of me, I cut their whole group so that ALL of them are behind me. You gotta pick your targets carefully though. I don't do this if a 300-pound guy named Bubba is among their friends.

Yes, Drop of Doom is my favorite ride now. The way I see it, it is a very inexpensive form of base jumping. I also thoroughly enjoy watching riders FREAK OUT on it. I laughed at a guy today and their friends noticed I was laughing. They were all cool about it. As for riddler, I planned to ride it 10 times, but I was getting nauseous after 4 rides, so I actually went back to Drop of Doom to "relax"!

half of the fun of drop of doom for me is watching people freak out. it's similar to people on top thrill dragster.

Hmmmmm, I always felt like it was the opposite...if you drink too many fluids before riding it induces nausea. I think MM just doesn't really give a f**k about maintaining Riddler like they used to since it isn't wildly popular anymore.

Thats okay, this is where I tell you that you're wrong. Go to the same page where you read my response, singemfrc was kind enough to quote it for you with the photo under my post. Please re-read it over and over until you accept that this is why it squeals. Good luck, dont hurt yourself.

Do we need another Q&A at WCB for me to once again raise the 'When will you restore Revolution to its original state...' question or will the upcoming anniversary be enough? I would think they have now seen what a monster restoration and change can do for attendance and PR...imagine an original Revolution train and layout w/o trims would do for the die hards and fans...

Its been at least a year and possibly longer now that the dusty and weather beaten sign at the entrance to Apocolypse has stated that a one train operation is due to refurbishment for future enjoyment or something along those lines...more like a permanent state at this point...where is the 2nd train??

My son and I met the young girl marathoning TC last Friday during the Gold Pass preview...she was quite a talker in line...lots of ?s on my KBF WCB T-shirt...and then always seemed at least 2-3 trains ahead of us...

here's an interesting question or observation...did the vinyl seats on TC all fade to the brown they are now or did they actually change the color?

i was just looking for a picture of the seat because i liked how they have an RMC logo in them on the backs. looking at construction images and the iappa pics, the seats are black. i know during the commercial filming i was commenting on how they were faded, but always thought they were brown, until i just looked at pics now.

man, the sun is just brutal out in the santa clarita valley.

^I noticed that too and thought it was strange. Either different trains have different color padding, or they changed them. I can't imagine less than a month in the sun they'd turn a completely different color, especially because they were black before.

Another thing I noticed is the padding on the cars is basically only velcro'd on. So essentially, if the general public wants to, they can just rip parts of the padding off during the ride. I think this may have something to do with RMC building their first coaster on the West coast, and out here, people are ruthless scumbags and will put their mark anywhere they find the opportunity. So while this padding may have worked for other rides around the country, someone's going to have to find a better way to figure out how to keep those things on there. In fact on Friday's ERT I sat in the back, and one of the pads on my right shoulder was already missing.

Freaking GP, can never have anything nice. So glad I got to ride this before they got their stupid grimey hands on it.
