The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Thank you!

Today Saturday was a tough day starting out with a full freeway closure of I-5 around 9:45. It took some time (paper says 1 hr) to get it all cleaned up and get to SFMM. This accident was at Calgrove North and sort of like no mans land with no off ramps behind it except back about 5 miles to Roxford or re-direct to the 14. Oh well enough about that.

It was Hot.... It was crowded .... Its was fun

So excited for Twisted Colossus! The way it deviates from the animation is just making it even harding to wait! So INSANE! Can't wait for all of the airtime

the only real deviation i see is the block brake. the double down has a minor twist, but nothing major.

Does anyone plan to go to SFMM in May (or June) this year? I'll be flying to California for my grandpa's 90th birthday, but then also looking to hit one of my favorite parks up, yes, SFMM, so it'll be like a trip and vacation all in one for me.

It'd be great to spend a day or two with other ride enthusiasts, and a bonus if anyone was able to provide me with any rides in exchange for me to provide gas money, buy ya lunch, etc., (otherwise I'll be looking at the LA bus system to get me around).

The Twisted Collosus has me excited to ride!

You're right, it seemed like there was more. Still looks awesome though

Without knowing where you are, and when exactly you are going, it would be tough to get any nibbles on this. One thing for sure....you can forget about the bus. I know there is a way to do it, but depending how far you are, it is most likely not practical. Consider renting a car? Maybe Uber...

My daughter and I fly in all the time. Keep us posted when you lock down a more firm date. We might be able to fly out from Vegas

You might want to try asking this again a week or two before you visit. There are plenty of people on here who visit the park semi-regularly, but unless someone is traveling from out of state it would be unlikely they would make plans months in advance. You might be able to find someone willing to give you a lift and hang out for the day (heck, I'd be up for it if I was available and you happened to be staying somewhere convenient), but you'll have difficulty planning for a May or June trip at this point. If you can't get a ride, your best option would be to rent a car, or if absolutely necessary use Uber or similar. Taking the bus to SFMM is not worth it, IMO.

Also, if you're hoping to ride Twisted Colossus I wouldn't plan your trip before mid-June. While it's looking like a Memorial Day weekend opening is likely, delays have been known to happen with recent Six Flags projects. I absolutely would not expect it to be open anytime before late May based on the current state of construction.

Many employees at SFMM travel and use all the bus systems to get to SFMM. I know of workers from San Pedro, Arcadia, No Hollywood, and of course the Antelope Valley. So it must be doable.

that must be a rotten commute from San Pedro all the way there. only place i've ever even attempted to use a bus in a foreign area to me was in Hawaii, but i wasn't exactly going far. just trying to get to the mall.

anyway, depending on heat and schedule, i'm always up for a magic mountain day.

I have vacation from work May 16-20. If Twisted Colossus is open (or soft open) by that time period then I'll definitely be going to SFMM that week and then SFFT in September. If not, then I'll go to Six Flags Fiesta Texas for the soft open of Batman on May 17th and then come back to SFMM when I have more vacation in September. I usually only do one day, but when TC opens it's going to have an insane queue and no FlashPass, so I'll probably be spending a lot of time in that line, so I'll probably end up doing two days.

Yikes..hate to see you have to take the bus. If you're nearby the park I wouldnt mind giving you a ride to the park..as long as I dont have to fight the traffic of Los Angeles proper. I usually fly into Burbank (when I dont just drive down) and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn right across the street from the park.

Probably. And yeah, they probably get up super early. But combine the cheap commute with having a JOB I wouldn’t doubt it happens.

IdahoKat: If you have an extra $100 to spend to get around, and pretty much figure you're going solo, I would suggest spoiling yourself *a little bit* and renting a car. If you have a Costco Card, even better: One time my car was in the shop, and I rented a brand new Sentra from Enterprise for $109 for a WEEK, and they even picked me up and dropped me off.

Otherwise drop a PM with the details. I'm itching for a trip to the Mountain, and will probably take several once Twisted Colossus opens.

I need to see this video that's different.

Even in this image, the airtime hill looks a lot flatter than the actual track in the construction pic

guess cause i've been looking at every pic posted. that one you showed is like the double down pic. makes the angle look more than it really is.

While it's not quite yet a large Intamin-y ejector hill, that's the best-looking RMC airtime hill to come! Way sharper than in the animation. Sometimes, it's the simple things that work best.

By the way, preview of the element:
